Anyone got video/audio of that insane version of Krafty were Barney shouted throughout?

The best record of all was Al's description of how events unfolded. Hilarious!

can´t remember was that portugal or spain? i do remember barney had a little discussion with hooky after that song.

it was portugal

and it sucked

and it was pathetic

that is hilarious!

what set him off????

i'd think he was 'commenting' on hook turning up too loud, from some past incidents, but the bass sounds reasonable.....

that was enchanting. the sound of a band coming apart at the seams.

Alcohol, in the main, I think?

To be honest, I thought it was really funny at the time. Surprised other people are being so precious about it. If anything it was a hilite in an otherwise sterile festival. Wouldn't have taken much away from that particular gig if this hadn't have happened.

Sounds more like 'Penny Rimbaud of Crass Joins New Order.'

A good singer might have ruined their voice, screaming like that during a song when they're not used to it. Thankfully, Barney seems to be okay.

Remember being in Barca the night before and getting wound up by JG/Al cos I didnae have the money fer Lisbon. Still gutteeed I missed this and remember getting the text from Al saying Barney had done a WEIRDO to KRAFTY version, having said that, Barca was a great craic anyway :viking:

Blimey! He really opens up on that. Cheers for Mr Nash for tipping me off about this when we bumped into each other earlier. Young Mr Sumner sounds rather pissed off with something. I wouldn't want to wind him up!

LOL. My cat flinched when the screaming started.

HAHA! That was priceless. Thank you so much for the link. I'm sure it wasn't too funny for Hooky and gang, but for someone far away like me, that was hilarious. Barney can be so funny and I like him for that. I never get bored with New Order.

Sent you a PM.

It's a throw back to the old days in a way. Like the version of "this time of night" where he tells Eddie the bass sequencer is too low. Only this time he gives us that shouting you all love so much, for a whole song.

I think I downloaded an mp3 of that and burnt it to a CD---the first time I heard it, I thought that Bernard sounded like a child having a temper tantrum.

I love pissed off Barney live moments - favourites include "Turn that light off you cunt" during Blue Monday on Pumped Full Of Drugs, and when Barney rips his headphones off during radio 1 session of Temptation - you know, the one where he's wearing his white shorts!!! Classic.

Two warnings:

1 - It's horrible to listen to

2 - It's an M4A file, not an MP3.

Don't say I didn't warn you

Fuck me Col, that is awful

really, really, really awful

Two additional warnings:

1 - Don't drink anything whilst listening to it

2 - Don't believe there is any such thing as waterproof mascara

My God.

Besides the obvious problem here, is that canned harmony on the vocal?

Those are infamous parts of the Sumner legacy.

Surely this is all Hooky's fault?

He does warn him to turn his bass down.

He's even more furious than with Steve in BBC2 when Steve was banging his drum slow during In a lonely place in 84 and with the problem on the sound of his guitar during Sunrise in Tokio 85

I'd say that was more like Barney being too high to have perspective of tempo, Steve worked his arse off on that
