Is Waiting For The Sirens' Call worthy of being New Order's last ever single?

Well, we'll all be waiting a long time now, maybe forever, but who knows, the Siren's Call may be answered, so yep, this is an OK song to go out on... although I don't think we've heard the last of them yet.

Wait...isn't "Guilt is a Useless Emotion" really the last single?

I personally love this song. Listened to it the other day for the first time in a while and was struck as to how good it is. Probably wouldn't quite make my top 10 ever NO songs, but it's a cracking tune nonetheless.

I think it's an awesome song...worthy of closing their career (if it IS the end), it's got NO all over it and is comfortably in my top 10 NO songs.

Aye; it's not the worst of tunes. I suppose it's a half decent introduction for the "ignorant" to check out New Order's extensive back catalogue.

Of course, if it's anyone with a modicum of musical taste, they'll soon give up on the NO crap and discover the overwhelming art and beauty of Warsaw and Joy Division!

Contrary to what a lot of people think, I think the last single should be a crappy one, rather than a good one.

There was a promo CD, so it does exist in physical form! Besides, NO certainly won't be the last band to release digital singles. Sorry, guys. A single is a single, regardless of form or country. As far as I'm concerned, Guilt was it. :p

Sirens was probably one of their very best songs, not sure it should have been a single though. Then again I hate singles anyway, the whole concept of singles leaves me cold, album tasters at best, the idea of releasing several singles from an album when the album is out is just shit.

Good Song... One of the better ones on the album. And it starts that sequence of 7 (ish- not really sure about Draculas Castle) songs which most bands would have been happy to release as the bulk of a best-of

For me its a brilliant track. One of their best. (Ive got it on promo CD, but for some reason it will only play on the car CD player?!!)

I like Siren's and with Turn could have been a good double A. It's their flip whimsical side which I like as a contrast to their dance/rock etc.

Yes! Love the song and the video is quite fitting if it is their swan song. Best single off the track with Turn and Guilt being serviceable otherwise rest is crap.

Bernard had said WFTSC was his favorite track which probabaly means he poured a little extra in making this fine single. Which begs the question why it wasn't released sooner especially to America where it could've made some measureable success. But that is just me and somewhat biased to the song.

Going out with a Grammy nod. I feel 'GIAUE' should be considered the last single. I like WFTSC, but it's only the second-to-last single

Maybe if in time they release their "vault" material we will get a hit single from there?

Who cares? The shambles of NO falling apart seems like an apt conclusion, fitting for a band who cared so little about such things that final gigs, singles, albums, statements should be flawed... Turn would've/should've/coluld've been a better ending, as it is on Singles, but there's something comforting in that...
