Have just purchasesd this months issue of Q magazine and the Hookmaster is featured in an article where he is phoned everyday for a week. Coincidently the 18th of May is in the duration of this week and the Ace Of Bass is more preoccupied in eating Chinese and going to the Gym on this day than paying Homage to Mr Ian Curtis. Has a food fixation got the better of the Ace of Bass or is it pure forgetfullness that Mr Bassmeister did not comment? Does he no longer care?

One of my best friends died from a brain tumour when I was 24 years old, 10 years ago. I can't for the life of me remember the date on which he died, just remember it was the summer. If I did know the date, I think it would probably pass me these days anyway before I remembered. Doesn't mean you ever forget. You just move on.

Obviously of course Hooky's had May 18th repeatedly rammed down his throat for the past 22 years, but of all the band, I'd say he's always been the most vocal in his rememberance of Ian (his comments at Finsbury, anyone?). But I'm sure in those past 22 years he'd have lost people far far closer to him - his mother passed away in recent years, didn't she? - which probably shades Ian's death just slightly as far as Hooky's concerned.
