For those who missed it...WFTSC leftovers to be released

New Order heed the call New Order are to give a full release to their final songs, PS can reveal.

The band recorded seven songs from the sessions for Waiting For The Sirens' Call in 2005, which will appear as part of a reissue campaign next year.

Stephen Morris said: "The remaining Sirens ones are the biggest we haven't released. We all really want to give them a big push, they're too good to be thought of as unreleased leftovers."

Why not make 3 more songs and just release another album, add another album to their discography and make some money out of it, just a thought.

Great news. So does this mean every album including Sirens will get a re-release or will the extras on each album not relate specifically to that period?

Hey even if they release only 7 songs, it's like an album to me,

7 left overs from wftsc 1 miracle cure song 3 instrumentals from control soundtrack

this equals to 11 songs, enough for an album, i know it's kind of silly but thst's the way it is.

What I meant was, will the Sirens extras get added to a re-release of Sirens or will they be spread across several of the other albums to make us buy each one just to get those extra tracks. I was expecting them to only re-release the older albums not necessarily Get Ready and Sirens. But if every album gets re-released and each has extra tracks taken from the same period as when the original album was released (as per the suggestions made on this website) that would be great. Comprende?

That's certainly how I understand it - i.e. Sirens leftovers on the end of WFTSC! :)

Or there's at least 6 opportunities for more compilations and adding just one to each... cause we all know we could use more compilations of NO

I certainly hope the Sirens' tracks won't get added to the older albums as extras, they'd be right out of place on those. But however way they're gonna do it, I'll be buying it that's for sure :)

This is great news (for those of us who rate Sirens highly) - I'm looking forward to 7 more tracks of that quality!

My guess is that they felt they already had enough quality songs on WFTSC and the leftovers were of a good enough quality to form the core of the next album which never materialised.

I agree, this really is the worst time for NO to split. The release of Control, then there are all these pseudo JD/NO bands running around... Imagine the concert with all of them together...

I guess promoting remasters is great at this time, but some concerts would be better

If some of the dross on WFTSC can make the final cut then heaven knows how bad the leftovers are!.I seriously hope i'm proved wrong though

I just hope that the highlights of Hooky's archival demo stuff makes it onto the reissues as well.

The way I understand it is, they were left over as barney likes to take near complete songs away to do the vocals for, then maybe re-arrange and add bits, but while he was doing this, Steve, Hooky and Phil continued to write more tracks, they were left over as they were not finished in time for the album release date, which I should imagine had been set by warners. It aint like factory anymore, the album has to be issued at a set time. So not being on WFTSC has nothing to do with the quality of the track, just it's state of completion at release time.

I can't wait to hear them, no reason not to do a mini album, like the one (can't remember the name) with EGG, Tamptation, C&W, Hurt and Mesh on.

You'll see the touring again once hooky's finished sifting for hens teeth in rocking horse shit.

Ideally, it'd be great if the album/EP whatever we want to call it includes the 3 tracks off the Control soundtrack. It'd be fitting since these last 10 tracks would constitute the last studio recordings of NO.

That was the reason for the first place... they were going to rush out another album after WFTSC, they had it all planned, everything was going great... somehow they took a wrong turn, or somebody must have finally heard that Siren.

Great news! If they are recevied well then it may force them back together one more time. They are obviosuly some communication again between them again to agree to this. The whole world has gone JD mad last year and this year. Next year is NO turn.

I totally agree! right now, with all of these NO/JD type bands being popular, and with Control and the JD documentary coming out, as well as the new live DVD, it would be the perfect time for New Order to release a new album and do a tour.

It seems like it would actually be happening of Hooky hadn't quit. Steve mentioned in Brazil 06 that New Order had a new record to finish, and obviously Steve and Barney want to move on, hence Bad Lieutenant. I mean.....I just cannot help but think that BL is basically makiing songs that would be New Order songs, they just wont have Hooky.

I mean.....why would Hooky wanna work with shitty sub rate trendy bands like the Wombats, and not New Order? Its silly. I respect his choices.....but I think that if Hooky wasn't so angry or stubborn, we might be getting ready to hear some New New Order tunes.

Perhaps doing th reissues and releasing WFTSC part two will make New Order realise how awesome they are and they will get over thier differences and make a new record and do some gigs.

And I don't buy the age thing. The Pet Shop Boys are over 50, and they still record and tour regularily. And thier last album, Fundamental, was one of thier best.

I think that if NO dont make some new music, they are really selling themselves short, because they are magic.

For what its worth, I am a younger New Order fan (I am 25) and Ive been a big fan of New Order for 10 years now......I think that WFTSC is one of New Orders finest albums and its the one that I actually play from beginning to end the most. It flows really nicely as an album.

On the subject of "are they sub-standard tracks", Steve and Barney said the only reason they weren't on Sirens was because the other songs "fitted" better. Barney even said "Sirens is great, but wait til you hear the other tracks cos theyre even better!" (I'm paraphrasing not qouting- it was in the NME)

Indded I remember Hooky saying they were too NewOrderish. Well IMO there's nothing wrong with that.

I would still like some confirmation other than a teletext before I start saving my pennies.

This time I think I'd just get the cds as my vinyls are still in excellent shape.

Anyways they would have to get together at some stage for mixing purposes or like. I'd like to think something like, H: How about we whip up a couple of quick tracks to finish the album? B: OK , could happen.

In the past some of their best work was when they were under pressure and fighting.

Why not just issue those seven left over tracks as a bona-fide EP or mini album instead? On their own imprint or something? I mean, to hell with convention! Other bands are issuing music in formats other than the tried and tested (and boring) single-album-single-single-single-cash in best of-single formula, but then I suppose that is kinda beyond their way of logical thinking I guess??

Here's an even crazier thought. Add the extended versions of their Control soundtrack songs and possibly throw a vocal on a couple of them. For this they wouldn't even need to meet.

I always enjoyed the NO album instrumentals.

Regardless of format, I'm glad they're releasing these tracks, can't wait to hear them

A full-on collection of previously unreleased tracks. Doves did that with some b-sides, "Lost Sides", and it was quite successful.

I think he means that these are finished "official" tracks from the WFTSC sessions. Does anybody know if they actually have many finished tracks from earlier times that are not just demos or unfinished songs? Always seemed like they have said that they only bother to finish the tracks they will release.

Oui. I understand. But I dont think they will reissue Low-Life with Madonna stuck on the end. That just wouldnt work or make sense.

I read at the time that they ditched the songs because they sounded too much like The Killers. Be good to hear.

they could always add the 'Vietnam' and 'Soundtrack' and voila, a new NO album. Then again, seeing how WFTSC is about £1.99 in every shop I go into, something tells me it didn't sell particularly well. Wonder if the 'bonus' tracks will be the 12 x 12" remixes?

I loved WFTSC, I played it all the time, so I'm very excited to here this news, I hope it happens, plus I'd love to hear the 12x12 remixes since I don't have a turntable I've never heard them.

why's everyone pining for them to reform? We had 30 years of music from Hook / Sumner and Morris : nostalgia ain't what it used to be so why pine for the past? I'm spending the rest of my life in the future, so that's where I'm looking.

I really hope they avoid the currently fashionable "online only" path because the quality invariably sucks and most fans will want a hard copy to fuss over and add to our collections. There has got to be a CD and preferably LP; limited edition numbered vinyl sounds good to me.

There's also the fact it's not really long enough to be a proper album (7 tracks) so what category will it fall under... album? EP? Extended Maxi-single? I don't really think bringing tracks like Vietnam or the PS Soundtrack into the mix is the way forward as they're totally out of context next to the new material.
