Fine Time - Good or Bad

I know it's probably inbetween but some sections do sometimes sound really weak. Probably not worth a poll but i'm bored.

I think its genius, demented instrumentation equals pure pop genius.

Genius. Punk + Acid. All versions are great. Far better than Chemical Bros, Underworld.

In between. It's not the most genius song I've ever heard by New Order, but clearly not rubbish either. Fun to dance too, though, but not something I'd be listening to over and over on my playlists.

It was alright at the time, but sounds rather dated now.

about the whole porn-aspect, do you think those modified vocals (esp. the extended version in the silk hurley mix) were intended to be taken seriously--? i actually really love this song, because it always cracks me up... but not sure if it's a case of laughing at or laughing with...

It's definitely New Order.

Not really a great dance song. Odd naive attempt at making "pop" acid house. I've always liked it, New Order not taking themselves too seriously and having fun with lots of energy.

Genius in my opinion. It's not my favourite on Technique though and I prefer Round and Round to it, but still good, brilliant intro.

Remember this coming out. I was so excited rushed out and bought it and.... thougt it was the worst NO track I've ever heard! Lucklily Tecnique followed, one of my all time favourite albums and suddenly FIne TIme clicked and I thought it was OK.Still my least favourite track on Technique but great cover for the 7" and 12". Not great but not bad either.

Bit of a lazy attempt to ride on the 'acid' sound of the moment. Responding to, rather than leading, a new sound IMHO. Heard a song by Coldcut featuring Yazz on Tay FM yesterday, reminded me how much I hated much of that late 80's dance music which basically sampled anything and stuck it on a bass-line. Godawful!

I tend to agree with Chris that Technique was not that notable, especially in the context of all that had gone before.

Great intro, great outro (especially the "You've gpt style... lines) but utterly rubbish in between.

Mr. Disco was a far better dance toon.

Fine Time just goes to prove the theory that NO relased the wrong singles.

For me, living in a small and dull shitty town at that time, it was a tune that gave me kick in the arse to go and get up and hit the rave/house/acid scene in Amsterdam which i was following from a distance back then.

dunno why but it inspired me in a way, so yeah for me a great tune...

i loved it when it first came out, but now i think it's a train wreck. barney sounds constipated and i hate the keyboard part.

I suppose its more of a track intended for the live show. The recorded version, just reminds me of why meds are prescribed these days. I mean initially hearing this as the first single, im sure some of you ended up with depression. Yet it fits alongside the orders refusal to conform with general pop music. I doubt any of the other bands from the era would craft something like this. Though i'm not so sure any other band would sing about girls being too young..
