What's your favorite NO prodution work? I mean outside production work, ie our heroes working for other people for a change! My vote goes to Barney's work on ACR's "Won't stop loving you". Oh how I danced to that one (it was 1990, mind. I used to dance like a madman in those days...)! Electronic's remix of ACR's (again those guys!) "Shack up" was ace too! And what about Mr. Shaun William Ryder's "Freaky dancin'"?

Mine goes to Section 25 "Looking From A Hilltop" produced by Barney. Stone Roses "Elephant Stone" produced by Hooky is nice as well.
The Only Truth by Paul Haig.....full 7 minute version of course. Barney produced it and supplied gee-tar. Totally love Freaky Dancin, as well.
Peter Hook's best work was with The Stockholm Monsters, IMHO.
My vote goes to Hooky for his production of Elephant Stone
The 12" version is my fave Roses song which was also mixed by John Leckie, although not too far behind that would be Barney's production of Freaky Dancin' - didn't like it at first - but as usual after a few listens it grew on me, one of my favourite Mondays tracks these days;)
mr sumner produced a song called reach for love by marcel king...released on factory i think.....its very very good..has anyone heard it???

Yes it's on Palatine. It's very disco. I've just had a quick leaf through the Palatine booklet, which tells me nothing about Marcel King, but apparently Shaun Ryder told Wilson that it was the best record Factory ever released.

cant remember what year it was released but as most things factory it was very "before its time"..still sounds quite good now.

I also have that ACR 12" with The Barnster - it's pretty fookin good
Also have the "Good Together" 12" with Barney & Shaun Ryder doing the backing vocals, another great track.
Also love the "Security" 12" (I have a white label of it) that one's winging it's way to the Rocket Man seeing as it's one of the few things the buggerado hasn't got:D
Yeah - it's got to be that Section 25 12" "Looking From A Hilltop" Barney did with Donald Johnson of ACR. But he did good with "Freaky Dancin'" as well, a suitably scuzzy production there that really did do justice to the Mondays image at the time....
As for Hooky, Steve and Gillian, I'm not much enamoured with any of their respective extra-curricular production jobs to be honest....Hooky did a lot of work with The Stockholm Monsters but my knowledge of their material is miniscule to say the least.
This Time I'm Not Wrong and Out of Control are really good tracks, but only the work of Bernard Sumner and respectively the Doves (Sub-Sub) and the Chemical Brothers.
So it's hard to say these are New Order's work.
How about the New Order mix of Regret ? ;)

Can anyone backup the theory that Bernard produced Technotronic's 'This Beat is Technotronic' which I think ranked high in the UK charts.
Not a soulful classic, but a stomping pop tune that filled the early nineties night clubs and rave events.
It was 'Rockin over the melody' (rockin over Manchester mix) a remix rather than a production credit, Top tune as well.

looking from a hilltop as well, one of my all-time faves... splendid production, works so well (same as the whole from the hip album), barney's work with section xxv is till classic to me. a shame they went by almost unnoticed, still have hopes on more new material to surface - maybe barney can use some new order-off-days again to produce???
