In wich way did NO influenced your lives? Here's my contribution to the discussion: my 18 month old son is called "Pedro", wich is portuguese for... Peter! Guess who I named him after?

They've dictated my holidays for the past year. ;)

And my credit card company sends them Thank You letters.

They altered my perception of music. Through listening to JD and NO, I began to appreciate how singing off-key, playing very simple notes (sometimes incorrectly) could actually be as technically advanced as the most polished classical performer or composer.

If it wasn't for Barney I might not be inclined to shave the sides of my hair.

Funny that, I had the same "inclination" (nowadays I'm more into Hooky's haircut circa 1985/86)!

The taught me at a very impressionable age that being hopelessly drunk, lazy and talentless is no barrier to self-advancement, a lesson that I have lived by ever since. As have, coincidentally, most Stoke City squads I've watched over the last two decades......

THE MEEK AND TALENTLESS SHALL INHERIT THE EARTH!!!!!

Joy Division/New Order were (and still are) the main reason for learning English (to understand the lyrics, read the books, etc). Also, to watch New Order live was the fundamental factor to my first travel abroad. And I’ve been taking Prozac as well. :)

Sounds nasty, Jorge. Surely in 1985/86 Hooky was going for that brylcreemed-back look?

Do you wear thin ties, black shirts and baggy troosers up to your armpits too?! ;)

(for reference, see the Tube appearance!).

Well, the influence has been huge. If all the time, money, enthusiasm and energy I´ve invested (some may say wasted) on them through the years had been invested in some nobler pursuit let´s say the stockmarket I would be extremely rich by now.

That would mean I would be a snotty, wine drinking, stinking, if-you-want-a-friend-get-yourself-a-dog, golden calf worshipper. :car:

And oh-so-happy!

I don't know that they have influenced me much other than choice of holidays...

but they have provided endless hours of entertainment...and I'm sure this will hold true...now that they are

Well, they've certainly influenced me enough over the years to now despise them (and everything they now stand for) with every ounce of my being..... ;) :evil4:

Couldn't possibly explain how they have influenced my life, the best way to explain is that my Uncle John "gave me the gift" and I have passed it on to at least 2 ex-girlfriends, Darren who is Baldrick, Malky who is Boris, and Mark who is Andy MacDonald!

How have they had an influence on my life? I've always admired the fact that they couldn't be arsed to do things the industry way for a long time, and that they couldn't give a flying **** about what most people thought.

They couldn't gi' a fook aboot us then, so noo Ah canna gi' a fook aboot THEM ..... THAT's why Ah won't be botherin' wastin' me money gannin ta see them play live anymore! Simple, really!
