answer the question, is peter hook a cunt? i dunno what that guy from the cure was talking about, hooky looks like a teddy bear to me.

The only thing I can think of is Peter used some of a Cures bass in a New Order song and when asked about it he said "For everything they stole from us, I dont feel bad."
There might be more I dont know?

I reckon Jarvo's right about this as Mr Gallup has done everything he possibly could to BE Peter Hook in more recent years - right down to ordering a bass guitar EXACTLY the same as Hooks from Chris Eccleshall in England which he then plays in EXACTLY the same stlye using EXACTLY the same notes the majority of the time...discuss...
well.......nowadays Mr. Gallup is playing a Gibson Thunderbird bass most of the time/gigs...

was there ever any contest? I mean, the Pistols or the f****** Cure! Simon who? didn't you use to compile charts? Lydon is as relevant today as he was 25 years ago & still the funniest man in pop music by a million miles.

We already have Jo Brand on our screens as a livin' tribute to Fatboy Smith and his cronies...so why are the Pink Floyd of Goth still churnin' and' gurnin' and noodlin' to ever-diminishing returns?
I mean, how many bands exactly still have big hair these days? That's so eighties! Even Bruce Dickinson from friggin' Iron Maiden has had his hair cut! .....And Michael fookin' Bolton!!
It is too...The albums by The Cure that I have and still enjoy listening to are:
Seventeen Seconds, Faith, Pornography (though you gotta be in the mood for that one), Concert (Live), The Head on The Door, and Standing On A Beach (Singles).
They really should have called it a day whilst they were still good though. 
Totally agree with you there Hubert ... Those albums you mentioned are the only ones I ever listen to and enjoy also
Do they have that reality show 'Celebrity Boxing' in England like they do in America ? My money would be on Mr Hook ....

the cure were threatening to break up a couple of years ago. there was all this hoopla about their last tour and performing 3 hour shows for their fans. blah blah blah. but something tells me that we've haven't seen the last of them. they're kinda like jason from friday the 13th, you don't know when they're really gone. i have a feeling they're gonna be releasing another record. is that a bad thing?

but what really irks me about the cure is their large catelogue of greatest hits, b-sides and live cds. they either really hate their record company or they're using their back catelogue as a cash cow.
Some of my friends are massive Cure fans (and I did like them, the Cure, that is, I still like my friends, up to "Standing on the Beach"), funny thing is that they were complaining that on Cure gigs they were playing too many either obscure back catalogue songs or new songs and hardly any classics. I guess us fans can never be satisfied, can we?
who are the Cure ? I mean really ? I cant see thru with all that makeup..and whatever happened to the Sparks ? weird...

You are SO right Snucker, about their many compilations, remixes, and live albums - they have brought out more of those than their proper studio albums over the years, but it now looks as if our own beloved heroes New Order are starting to do exactly the same thing - or rather, the bloomin' record company (I can see it now - for every studio album, they'll issue a compilation alternately. Don't believe me? Here: "Republic". "The Best/Rest Of". "Get Ready". "Another Best Of"/"Recycle".... Desperate or what??)

ironically, the "last" concerts were supposed to appeal to those massive cure fans, like your friends. you know, to say thank you for being such a hard core fan that you'll know or remember all the obscure stuff we've written. in that way, i think it also excludes the casual cure fans, cuz they wanna hear the hits right?;)
i wish NO would play some osbcure tracks, it would be nice to hear some them live. but what am i saying? i'll be happy if they played blue monday 5 times in north america. cuz at least they'd be here. :(

john lydon still relevant today? i really don´t want to offend anyone here, but i really wonder... was this meant to be a joke ??? maybe you can explain me, i guess it probably looks different to me cos i live in germany. but i saw the reunited pistols three times and what i saw was so ridiculous. i mean, being hated by many people probably makes an artist more relevant than being loved, but I only had so much pity on them.

New Order and John Lyndon are the only people offering genuine inspiration in the music world today!
I really love both bands, and I can't see why people always have to be so competetive about them.
Although I would probably prefer New Order above the Cure if I had to make a choice, I don't think New Order ever made an album as complete and beautiful as The Cure's Disintegration. There probably just too lazy to put in the effort...
