Few of my NO clippings

That review of The Rest Of is a classic and one I tend to agree with (even though I bought the CD). It could easily have been written by myself, though I would have added a few expletives in it.
All my clippings are in a box in the loft and would take forever to scan, spent fookin fortunes on music papers and magazines over the years just for the odd snippet ![]()

I don't think I've heard anything from that CD.
It would be much easier if the pages weren't so big because I keep my clippings in a binder...

Fookin' Ell, Barney in those specs looks like Kevin Rudd the Aussie PM!![]()

Thanks. If anyone has any to share...:D
I don't suppose anyone has a copy of a spoof Hello piece with Hooky and Caroline Aherne? My memory of it is sketchy, I seem to remember someone sitting on the loo in one of the pictures?
I'd never before seen that review of "Technique" a few posts up. My memory was that it got blanket glowing reviews, yet that writers ambivalence about the sound of the record is unnervingly prescient given that "Technique" now sounds akin to a tasty but very smelly cheese called "Lancashire Blue (1989 vintage)"
Someone buy that scribe a half.

It's the first time I'd read it too. I thought it was just one of those clever-arse reviews by someone trying to sound 'street' by getting Barney's name wrong and slagging off the cool band's good record. What was it in, the Face or something?

I think it was in Q.
I was tickled by the journalist's suggestion that the record sounded dated when it came out. I know that's a truism about "Republic", but even though bits of "Technique" have dated very badly indeed surely it was fresh as a daisy in January 1989?
I'm afraid I'm just not in any way hip enough to answer this question myself. Can anyone???!?

I'm hip enough, but too cool to bother.
Anyone found that Hello spoof yet?

Cannae mind anyone sitting on the bog
but I know the piece yer on about, can remember the house looked massive, big garden and a few ornaments and stuff. Canne mind what magazine it was in, but I know I have the clipping somewhere.
A scan would be brill, Shug. If you can find it, I'll tell you why I'm interested in it ;o)
It was probably Select, that was the one I used to buy the most when I was that age.
A fiver says there was someone sat on the bog though.

That's when Hooky shoulda badgered Barney to get AGE OF CONSENT back in the setlist......you agree to most things if yer pissed enough to dance to Ricky Martin ![]()

That, Shug, is bullet-proof logic ![]()

Err, that's not it though.
The one I'm thinking of had Mrs Merton on the bog.
You sure that wasnae a dream?

Thanks. Now I have to find the time to read it...
anyone got an NME or MM of Revenge, that shows Hooky all bloated and drinking/partying hard? it was hilarious, but i haven't seen it in like 18 years...... he probably bought up every issue in the UK and burned them.... it was NOT flattering....

I remember that article and, in fairness, Hooky and the rest of the band were quite deliberately letting it all hang out for the photographer. The whole piece did seem to indicate that, whatever their merits musically, being on the road with Revenge was a lot of (bloke-y) fun.
Unlike being on tour with New Order, natch.
I might have Uncut mag somewhere in the loft. There was about a 20 page feature on neworder from about 1999.
one clip ill never forget though was from smash hits. it had 5 facts about NO and one was that they played "thieves like us" on the show, live, and it went down the charts the following week. i think that was a first. only NO are capable of doing that:\ohwell:
I don't have any of the articles you guys are talking about but I do have some different ones I'll scan soon.
Matt Brown, Switzerland: Peter, how the fuck do you get that bass sound? PH: I'm not telling you. Fuck off.

Classic. Thanks for the clippings, everyone!
