FAC 51 The Hacienda is delighted to announce its arena at this years EH1 Festival in Edinburgh, an event which sees a once in a lifetime bill of DJ’s and Acts put together by Scotland’s biggest dance music promoters, Colours and Streetrave who’ve shaped club culture North of the Border for some two decades now.
A new and exciting addition to the festival calendar, EH1 sees the very best DJ’s and live acts across nine arenas all hosted by the very best UK clubs and which see the finest musical talents on the planet coming to Edinburgh for the debut of EH1. For FAC 51 The Hacienda’s arena, a superlative bill of talent has been amassed in one of the strongest line ups seen to date. Rightly at the top of the bill and in a rare UK appearances is DJ legend Frankie Knuckles whose list of remixing and production credits spans the whole development of dance music from the mid Eighties to now, from the classic “Your Love” to one of the records of last year, his remix of Hercules and Love Affair’s “Blind”.
Also over from the United States in a rare appearance is Detroit techno pioneer Derrick May. From “The Dance” to “Rhythim Is Rhythim” to “Strings Of Life” to his sublime Mayday mixes including the classic reworking of “Sueno Latino”, Derrick May’s production skills and knowledge of techno is second to none and he commands a uniquely respected position amongst the dance music fraternity.
Danny Rampling has only recently returned to Dj’ing after a self imposed retirement and having played with the Hacienda and Streetrave at The Streetrave 19th Birthday Party last year at Glasgow’s The Arches, he returns here to celebrate the 20th and has always remained ever popular with the passionately dedicated Scottish dance crowds.
The Hacienda’s bill also includes a number of Fac 51 mainstays, those Mancunian dons of all matters techno, 808 State DJ’s, New Order’s Peter Hook, original FAC 51 resident Jon Dasilva and also the Heavenly Sociable Jon Carter in a super strong line up of DJ’s. To round it all off, EH1 will also see a PA by Happy Mondays’ and Black Grape’s Shaun Ryder as he delves into his classic hits for the delight of the EH1 crowd.
With a mixture of indoor and outdoor arenas and since the event also coincides with the internationally renowned Edinburgh Festival, great attendance is expected and a fantastic dance experience is to be expected. Production of the highest standard is Streetrave’s and Colour’s forte and with the sensational line ups, EH1 seems set to become the UK’s finest, strictly dance music festival of 2009 and beyond.
As the Manchester nightclub that reshaped club culture throughout the world, FAC 51 The Haçienda today exports its inimitable brand of musical hedonism and excess as The Haçienda Tour with gigs across all four corners of the globe which move forward the inimitable legacy and reputation of FAC 51 and brings it right up to date for 21st Century clubbers.
FAC 51 The Haçienda’s unconventional attitude and lofty position in music history means that the creative energy and dynamism on which The Haçienda was based has never fallen away. The Haçienda Tour recreates this as a contemporary Haçienda experience featuring immaculate Haç décor and superbly individualistic lighting, all in an authentic FAC 51 style and designed by the original FAC 51 team.
