When you think "Broken Social Scene covering Joy Division's 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'," you probably imagine something hazy and beautiful and waltz-y and tortured. And that's exactly what the revamp-- to be featured on the upcoming soundtrack to The Time Traveler's Wife-- sounds like.
The Canadian crew tease things out while Kevin Drew pulls off an Ian Curtis impression that avoids parody while nailing the late singer's fraught sentiment. "Love Will Tear Us Apart" has been covered many (many) times, but never like this, exactly. Stream it below. As previously reported, an abridged version of Broken Social Scene are set to cameo as a wedding band in the forthcoming flick, which is out August 14. According to the trailer, the movie looks like quite the cheeseball sandwich-- but, hey, at least it's got Rachel McAdams going for it. And this cover.
