My very kind good lady wife bought me a ticket for the exhibition at the 02 and we went along last week to see it. It's divided in eras rather than decades so there's a sizeable eighties section. Behind a large glass cabinet, there are several items of NO interest:
An Emulator mark 1 plus original floppy disc. I'm not sure if this was the actual beast that featured on Blue Monday but there were some felt-tip pen marks on the keys. It also looked like it had been gigged a bit although I couldn't tell if it was the one that required a sound thwack from a lump hammer to load the discs!
A copy of the original BM 12".
Hooky's Shergold six-string bass.
The original channel sheet for BM from Britannia Row, dated 22.10.82 so there you go: BM was recorded a whole six months before it was released!
A Technique poster.
There's a fair bit worth seeing apart from the NO stuff and you can even buy a framed Joy Division photo in the shop!
