The "Before & After UK release 15th July" rumour wasn't too bad. One trip into town and a few enquirys in the local record emporiums later and I relised I'd been had. The source of the rumour? Answers on a postcard to NOOL please.

where did that one appear?

right after the release of the first Electronic album here in the states...Wendy Naylor came on 94.5 KDGE, and announced that there were reports coming out of England that Barney had been killed in a car wreck...obviously, this was a very well kept secret, and a rumour that was circulating only in the Dallas area...

Rocket Mick probably had something to do with it!!

He's not a nice boy...charging Shugz 4.25 for a can of Stella!!!! :nonono:

Ah, wasn't that from our good friend Chris Z?

Funny you two should mention our dear friend Chris, because I tried out the search function yesterday just so that I could read THAT concert review again.

Didn't he also think that Billy Corgan was Barney's son?

Yes! Surely one of the classic moments in the history of this message board? :D

my favorite rumour from the band was that Gillian could not play the guitar before joining new order. i just watched the fact77 video, and you know, there my be some truth to that.

a knife and a fork, a bottle and a cork, thats the way you spell new york

I've heard that Gillian still doesn't know how to play guitar...so what's new????

besides...Mick assures me this is no rumor...but the honest to goodness truth!!!!

I heard way back when I was first learing about JD that Barney and Hooky had been angling for the guitar-playing, and Barney got his hands on a guitar first so Hooky had to settle for bass. Dunno if it's true or not, but it might explain why his style is very lead guitar-ish.

A rumour I heard is that Barney & Johnny Marr were gays.. it turns out both have families, those nasty bastards back in 1990 who told me ths

I'm sorry if you've seen rumours on this site, but the one rumour that beat them all is Sébastien's tracklisting of Get Ready 2 years before its release, it was published everywhere and everybody was sure it was true... he did that just to bug some people, but it was indeed very funny.

I heard a rumour that they weren't going to change their set list throughout their European Tour and then, well, fuck me with a barge pole..........

I know. The lowest form of wit.

huh huh-huh huh-huh....Jeff said, "Wendy Naylor". Cool................

Wasn't that when the Edge actually played "alt. rock"? Those sodding sods wouldn't know "alt. rock" if it kicked them right square in the nuts.

Speaking of being kicked in the nuts, remeber the episode of South Park when Robert Smith came to town to defeat the awful and diabolical MegaStriesand?

Roshambo!

i heard that too, cuz barney owned a guitar (had it since he was 16 i think) and hooky didn't, so hooky had to settle for a bass guitar.
