!!!

Wait until the folks over at FUC 51 get wind of this.

"Hi Xxxx,

Thanks for your email.

I had a meeting with Hooky yesterday to discuss the packages.

The EP will consist of 2 brand new songs by Peter plus 2 new cover versions. One of the tracks will be remixed by a "name" remixer. All four of the tracks will be licensed exclusively to us for a period of 20 years, for release as a 10" EP only with this book. We are still discussing the tracks to be recorded, hence the reduced pre-publication price. 100 coloured vinyl copies of the record will be issued with the Deluxe limited edition package and 400 black vinyl copies will be issued with the Regular limited edition package.

There is also a high likelihood that we will be including a limited edition DVD of a night at the Hacienda with the package.

The Deluxe edition of 100 copies is selling well already, via our website at www.foruli.co.uk.

Please do not hesitate to ask any further questions you have.

All the best,

Matt at Foruli Publications"

Granted he has been busy but to be fair to the guy he's brought out a new book and a new club. You'll never make a success/any money out of those ventures without publicity.

With Freebass due, no doubt we'll be seeing even more for some time.

Nowt wrong with that.

Same as Bad Lieu. I'm just happy there's some activity.

(But for the record, I've better things to spend £600 on than a book)

Well, the only thing I'd be interested in is the 10" single, but I'll be damned if I'd pay (at least) 350 quid for it...

Ah well, there is a market for these limited edition books - I remember George Harrison doing one some time ago - they're worth a bleedin' fortune now... Perhaps, in 5 or 10 years time, these will too, and I'll wish I'd have bought it...

C'est la vie! :p

for a laugh, when i was 21 in 1992, i asked my mum if i could have my b/day party at the hacienda. so she goes and phones them up. £1500 anyday apart from friday/satdy. bricked it in the end. looking back , would've been quite a do.

swap yer my copy of the Timelords "The Manual (how to have a number one the easy way)" for a hooky special.

I had to put that price through an online currency converter to get my head round it.

That's a little over 80000 yen; people have the right to charge however much they want, but er, that's a shitload of money for me.

Since it's a limited edition, I guess that might justify it to the people who actually buy it.

For those in the world who have the money to buy this, who want to buy it and think it's worth it; go for it. :shades:

That closer musical I was talking about is coming soon.

For £600 I'd expect Hooky to come round and read it to me.

SInce we all know jack reads the posts........

Hooky youve always been my favoutite memebr of NO and Ive had great pleasure over the years from your music (all of which i've bought by the way!) and concerts but really mate 400 or 600 for a bloody book is a piss take! For those non rock stars posting here thats a weeks holiday or a months mortgage payment ...surely even the most lunatic viking will have to pass up on this. If this was coldplay or bon(G)o doing this the opprobium would be huge. youve given a lot to the manc scene and I am geniunely grateful for the happyness your music brings but this is really really poor. Hopefully they will gather as much dust as the bad loo piss take box sets (which now look a lot more reasonable in price!!)

ps......imagine how many more copies of the book( ansd how much more money you would make!) would be sold if it were priced reasonably !

What a set of whinging gits you are, no ones making you buy it if you don't want to!!

And remember NO/Factory lost £10 for every person who visited the Hac, so who is to begrudge them now making some of that cash back.

Yup, agreed - if you don't want to buy it, then it's simple - don't buy it...

If 350 quid was something that I wouldn't miss (without thinking, "I could spend it on xxx instead"), then I'd pick it up in a flash - it will be collectable in the future.

Well, we all know we don't have to buy it (and I won't), but for there to be new music exclusively available only to those rich and stupid enough to spend this astronomical amount of money is a little annoying to say the least.

Also, I wouldn't expect to get a return on your money, the ridiculous starting price pretty much kills that, plus I think the market for all things Hacienda will be pretty dead in a few years 'cause the world at large will be sick of hearing about the whole thing.

It should have been around the £200 mark, any higher just seems like greed.

My sentiments exactly Mr J J.

I don't pretend to know anything about kind of people New Order are, but it just seems very out of character for Peter Hook to do something like this. Not to mention it just screams extortion.
