Hi all - just heard a fairly strong rumour that Hooky's "Unknown Pleasures" tour is likely to hit Australia in a few months, probably September.
Unconfirmed still AFAIK, but the info I have comes from a member of the local support act, so probably fairly solid...

Update - I have heard now this is confirmed, Hooky and friends playing Melbourne on Sept 24 supported by the Wreckery. Sure it will be good anyway, though....

But the general consensus up to now is that the gigs we have done have been very well received and not distasteful in any way really.

Maybe 'distasteful' is too strong. It's not how I want to remember / pay respect to the legacy of Joy Div is all. I'm not sure who the guests are this time but the idea of Rowetta singing the songs of Ian Curtis is not for me, sorry. Seems to be the thing at the moment for once-great bands to rehash past glories (which I can sympathise with as they make bugger all from CD sales) but something about it just doesn't sit right with me.
Saw the Pixies for the second time on their 'comeback' tour recently and it was very clearly just a money-grabbing exercise. They were flashing ads for their gargantuan merch stall (tea towels? bags? postcard sets?) on the screen just before they came on. They played a join-the-dots set and moved on to pillage the next town. My memory of one of my all-time favourite bands was tainted and I don't want that to happen with Hooky and NO who I still respect greatly. I'm happy I got to see NO live a couple of times and am resigned to leaving it at that.
But, you know, I would be happy to be wrong and I hope it's actually great.
Just had a look at the ticket sales for the Australian gigs
I'd say if you wanna go to one you will have to be quick, a couple of them are almost sold out already, unbelievable!!

Did I mention I think it's a brilliant idea and I will be there with bells on? 
Perth and could you consider Wellington? Wellington's a lot closer to Sydney (direct flights from there to Wellington) and Adelaide and Brisbane than Perth and you'd have a sold out crowd.

I saw the Unknown Pleasures tour in Norwich back in April and it was brilliant. Really enjoyed it and I would recommend you go. Also met the man himself afterwards - he is a legend! Ps this is my first post on this forum so hi to you all :)
Not keen on standing anymore esp. for shorties like me...so I got my Gold Reserved tix exactly 12noon on the dot last Wednesday pre-sale, got front row up the balcony, yay!!!
Btw, wonder u Sydney ppl notice those full page ad for this gig appearing in our street music papers lately ....continuing the fine tradition of errors/typo in anything Factory/New Order related

I only noticed that after I was considering attending the COASTER music fest which was advertised for Sat Sept 25th :D
Just emailed Red Ant Touring in Australia encouraging them to bring Peter Hook and Co to the San Fran Cisco Bathouse .

As it stands the adelaide and perth shows are going to happen, but there are just some more things to be ironed out before they get 100% confirmed.
There are also potentially going to be second nights added in melbourne and sydney due to an amazing response to the entire tour but those 2 dates in particular, i'll put up any news i get as and when i get it myself :)
Denis, that sounds good i will be in touch about where is good to go in brisbane, because our concert there is on my 21st birthday! cheers!

From Triple J: "As previously reported, Joy Division founding member Peter Hook is coming to Australia in September to perform the band's debut album Unknown Pleasures as well as early legendary singles 'Transmission' and 'Love Will Tear Us Apart'.
He's put together a band that includes his son, and they've already done shows in the UK, earning really good reviews. Hook recently told Tom and Alex that he's been a little terrified by the experience, because of the expectation of Joy Division fans.
The Australian tour was originally scheduled with just three dates - in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Additional dates have now been added in Adelaide and Perth. Tickets for those shows go on sale next Friday August 13.
Here's the full run of dates:
Fri September 24 - Melbourne, Palais Theatre Sat September 25 - Sydney, Enmore Theatre Mon September 27- Brisbane, Tivoli Theatre Tue September 28 - Adelaide, Her Majesty's Theatre Thu September 30 - Perth, Astor theatre"
Nice. But Her Maj in Adelaide is a very unusual choice - certainly not a rock venue by any stretch! What about the Astor in Perth?
Anyway, I have voiced my queries with this concept but of course I'll be there and will no doubt be loving every second of it. What else am I going to be doing on a Tuesday night in the City of Churches?
Social D is also touring for its first time in Australia... a good month for the Aussies, eh?
Adelaide went on sale yesterday but be warned that despite it saying everywhere that Ticketek was handling tickets, it's actually being handled by Bass. Took me all day to work that out - but still managed to get Row A seats.
Mind you, seats at a Joy Div tribute?? The Governor Hindmarsh would have been a much more intimate and suitable venue than a rickety old theatre IMO...
