Following a string of well received international dates throughout 2011 and the most recent UK concerts at The Lowry, Salford, Peter Hook And The Light have announced a UK tour for May and June 2012, visiting a number of cities for the first time to perform Joy Division’s debut album “Unknown Pleasures and returning to London for their second ever concert in the capital playing Closer, following up April's sold out Unknown Pleasures show at the Scala.

Beginning in Liverpool, the tour sees Hooky and The Light play their second ever Scottish gig in Glasgow before returning to England with dates in Nottingham, Sheffield and Oxford, all of which are “Unknown Pleasures” concerts whereas the London date sees the first ever “Closer” concert in the city.

Tickets for all these concerts go on sale from 9am on Friday 16th December 2011.

In the only previously confirmed other UK date for 2012, the band are to play “Unknown Pleasures” and “Closer” in the same evening at Buxton Opera House on Saturday 25th February 2012.

Playing the albums sequentially and in track order, both Martin Hannett produced LPs are considered seminal, much loved classics and their influence remains pervasive today, both with fans and for the many bands, influenced by and who have taken on the template of Joy Division’s sound in the modern era.

“Unknown Pleasures” is considered one of the most stunning debut albums ever released and “still powerful enough to floor you 30 years on” (NME) while on“Closer” Hannett’s incandescent production permeates the record alongside a band that had grown much in confidence approaching their second album.

Both albums have come to yield many landmark tracks, “Unknown Pleasures” with “Disorder” “Insight”, “New Dawn Fades”, and “She’s Lost Control” while Closer, considered “a start to finish masterpiece” by Pitchfork Media counts “Atrocity Exhibition”, “Heart And Soul” and “Twenty Four Hours” amongst its many highlights.

With each album in full during the concert, The Light also turn to Hooky’s early repertoire to perform many other Warsaw and Joy Division tracks, some of which have never been played live previously.

Since The Light’s debut of “Unknown Pleasures” in May 2010 at The Factory, Manchester, Hooky and the band have performed across festivals including Benicassim, Vintage, 1234 and toured much of mainland Europe, Australia, North and South America. 2012 will see a stretch of central European dates and a UK date in the North West in February at Buxton Opera House before the band return to Australia prior to the full UK Tour in May and June.

Is this the first time The Light have played London? So it's £31.15 on See Tickets for Islington after all the bullshit fees are added on. Ouch! I'd pay about £15 to see Hooky growl but this price isn't really floating my boat.

It's every bit as good as UP, the band is great, but I've heard all the JD stuff now, I want to hear something else, either NO stuff or even better something original.

We already did an Unknown Pleasures show in April this year in London at the Scala, it sold out and was a top night!! So this is why this visit to London is a Closer show... But yeah I enjoyed the 1234 Festival gig as well.

We've been knocking around some ideas recently, some of them are really interesting, hopefully we can develop them whenever we get a bit of time. We are touring a lot so there hasn't been much time to do much up to now... My dad has his own ideas and myself and the other 3 do as well so lets see what happens with that.

And nah at the Lowry I had my new Yamaha with me as a backup bass, had to use it as well on the second night when my straplock popped off.

nice bass, a little short on frets though, I love having 24 to play with, I've used them all!

Hopefully your dad will give you all a break from touring so you can write some stuff, I know he loves being on the road, but you'll need to recharge the battries at some point.

Peter Hook And The Light perform 'Still', the third and final of Joy Division’s releases live, sequentially and in its entirety for the first time at The Factory in Manchester on Friday 18th May and Saturday 19th May 2012.

Released in October 1981 to counter the slew of unofficial and bootleg releases which followed Ian Curtis’ death, “Still” firstly comprised studio out-takes and mainly unreleased or lesser heard tracks while the second side is a live recording of Joy Divisions’ last ever concert at High Hall, Birmingham on 2nd May 1980.

At the concert Hooky and The Light are to perform each disc separately, starting with the studio recording and then replicating the final ever Joy Division concert in a double header alongside various other tracks from the band's back catalogue.
