Jack - do you tell the old man what everyone writes about him on this site?
Archived30 replies · 3,763 views
Don't worry he reads it.
I would like to say. Hey Hooky, what right do you have to tell the other members they cant work. What right do you have to tell your management they cant work. What right do you have to tell all the people who work for New Order they cant work.
I see your trying to rewrite history, But I didn't forget. You quit the band. They owe you nothing. New Order still have a right to exist.
Btw. Their new tour sounds great.
I still wish that they could resolve their internal problems and arguments and could be New Order again, I have met Hooky 3 times and he has been very nice everytime and signed anything that I gave him.
just mad a hooky? the fuckin lot of em deserve a bit of your anger to be fair. the entire band are a bunch of lazy arses at best, they spend years doin fook all and then when they do get a move on, they spend the bulk of the time slaggin each other off. they should all hang their heads over this, cos none of em are squeeky clean on this. so pointing at any one of them in particular is a bit stupid really .
i wouldnt respond to any criticism from anonymous internet posters but hopefully he might learn something from the general feeing.

I too met Hooky multiple times and YES he always signs anything that the fans gave him. I remember back in 93 when he was in LA doing a radio show. He actually hanged out with all of the fans for about 30 to 40 mins in the parking lot. He was very nice and candid.
Jack tell your dad for always being accessible to his fans and hope to see you soon in LA.
If he gets the message that people would like him to record new music then thats fair enough surely and also when he is out performing with The Light the reaction he gets possibly provides a balance,it must be strange for him getting all the hate from (mainly)anonymous internet persons whilst getting a (mainly) positive vibe from fans who meet him in the flesh.
if you've got something to say, instead of clogging up the boards with inane drivel, please don't hesitate to come and say it face to face ??
:)
our numerous tour dates will tell you where we're going to be. see you soon ![]()

You tell em Jack. Hey what did you do in Toronto that was fun??? Great show, my buddy was too pissed drunk so left early.

What about people who AREN'T internet hardmen but are still honest enough to tell your dad when he's gone off the right path? Or can Hooky not take valid criticism? He put his argument out there for all to see, most adults would expect some honest reaction to it.

So...he'll only take on board feedback once you've paid for your ticket.

I won't be at any of em NEW ORDER
I think talking about what any of the members have said in interviews is acceptable. You know, asking questions among the users, wondering what somebody meant when they said something etc...

Wrong.. I think you'll find the last person from here that I invited to a gig was guestlisted, got in free & enjoyed it.

Fair enough :) Looking forward to going back.
Band politics aside I personally think it's pretty cool of Jack to keep coming back here and offering insight. None of us are thrilled with the current state of affairs but it can't be easy reading some of the personal stuff.
:\pimp3:
Jack, I hope you don't take it too seriously when people get on here slagging off your Dad. If it wasn't for your Dad and the rest of New Order, they wouldn't be on here anyway!
For me, yes, it is sad that Hooky isn't part of New Order anymore because of all the memories I have of New Order touring since 1987, but it looks like he's really enjoying what he's doing so good luck to him. And its also looks really successful and music is his business so you have to have make some money to keep the wolf from the door.
And for those on the forum who just enjoy slagging him off, I suppose they are allowed their free speech and to give their tuppence worth, but I bet if they happened to meet your Dad, they wouldn't be giving him a hard time. They'd be kissing his arse instead. Its only a guess, but I reckon they'd be fairly hypocritical.
I don't care what their current issues with each other are - I'm just forever thankful that they - New Order - existed in the first place and that they were able to create some of the best music ever.
New Order changed music forever for me and took me on a journey where I discovered the indie/alternative side of music way back in 1987 after seeing the video clip to True Faith.
I've got some very fond memories of scouring record shops looking for anything New Order or Joy Division related.
New Order have been part of my life for the best part of 25 years.
And Jack - you should be proud that your old man was part of that.

That person would be me (many thanks, Jack), and I totally and completely enjoyed the Light's gig here in NYC last Fall, they sounded fucking fantastic and it as a great gig.
Took my girlfriend, who likes New Order but really isn't familiar with Joy Division with me. So she was hearing a lot JD songs for the first time played by the Light, and she really enjoyed it. Hooky and the Light lads had put a lot of work into the show and they sounded really, really awesome.
I don't agree with some of Hooky's comments about the other member of New Order, especially Gillian, but he is free to speak his mind and while I wish he were still in New Order, I enjoy what he is doing now, just as I enjoy what New Order is doing now. I don't make it personal.
I look forward to seeing Hooky and the Light next time they play NYC.

Why dont you give them your phone number Mike? Maybe Hooky will give you a call.
Got to be said it's ironic this thread was started by an oddball who recently asked us all if we had decided to "black out" the Hooky postcard in our copies of Low-life. Arguably that is something Jack could tell his old man about.
Then he has the audacity to try and bluff "You tell em Jack". Not fooling anyone though, 'cairns' the little shit stirrer
I think people should definitely consider this before replying to any more of his threads, he's just trying to get a base reaction.
