Bernard Sumner: New Order Will "Hopefully" Record New Stuff
Archived32 replies · 3,188 views
"We'll be playing a combination of our favourite songs. I don't want to give too much away but we will throw a few songs in there that we've never played live before," Bernard admitted before confessing that with 30 years of back catalogue it's challenging to put the set list together. "It's hard to fit them all in in the amount of time we're allowed to play for. It's not too bad if its our own gig - we can put more songs in there - and we probably will put a couple of Joy Division ones in."
So WHICH songs that they have never played LIVE will they play?
Saville soundtrack please.![]()

I'd imagine that's shorthand for "songs I can't for the life of me remember ever playing. Or indeed writing."
Which would be a much much longer list.

Given that Pineapple Face is a Revenge track (read Peter Hook), not bloody likely.
Audio won't play for me...would anyone be so kind as to tell me what he says about American dates?

Totally agree with you, Special is a beautiful song with some of Bernard's best lyrics....would love to hear it live again.

What Do You Want From Me, then?
That's one of New Order's, isn't it? It's got their trademark bass part and everyfink.
Special is special and I always found republic under-rated. It really does document the factory/new order split and the band split really well, better than any interview about the subject. You just have to look at the song names and lyrics.
Regret Ruined in a day Liar
Etc....
Ps we'd settle for a replublic quality album these days, shows how bad the recent efforts are.

Maybe you're thinking of For You?
Don't worry...guess it will be same old songs on the setlist, since they play a lot of (shorter) festival shows it will be a greatest hits only me thinks...
For the UK tour and the oz/nz sideshows it might be different but i would not count on it that much.
However...i am open to surprises! So come on New Order!

hookys legal team are giving their pants a nice coat of cream over the residuals that will come from the use of the name for any new recorded material.

Er, your first request for New Order to perform out of their wealth of original material & back catalogue is a faux-reggae Keith Hudson cover version from 1982?
As for including the likes of Miracle Cure and Out of Control, that would be a bad idea. Not to say they're not good tunes but New Order should not be a live vehicle for Bernard Sumner's solo collaborations.
I say that as a big fan of his solo offerings too.
They should end the gig with a special 30-minute version of The Happy One. They can all just walk off stage and not come back. It will take the punters a while to figure out the gig is over.

The missing sirens i HOPE.
Well sorry now, but if they don't play Freude Schoener Gotterfunken I'll be gutted. Absolutely gutted.
Just picture it
Gillian - The melody - perfect Steve - Nodding and smiling behind a keyboard doing shag all - perfect Bernard - The random off key notes, on his melodica - perfect Phil - The white noise - perfect Tom - Nothing - perfect

I wouldn't read too much into these comments, Bernard says a lot and most of it is contradictory. Look at the confusion around the Stuart Price collaboration - on, off, maybe on again. This is pure conjecture but I wouldn't be surprised if NO recorded the stuff which the Barnster already wrote for the next Bad Lieutenant album - partly 'cos the line-up is so similar, partly 'cos in this world of economic crisis a NO album'd create more financial (and critical) noise than another BL one. Meantime I'll adopt a wait-'n'-see approach. And hope we finally get the Sirens outtakes at least!
A lot of the comments NO have made recently about their plans are of the 'we'll wait and see' types. ![]()
