Another FYI for Aus NOOLers, the ad for the new Ford Falcon (as premiered on the broadcast AFL Grand Final) uses a large portion of "Slow Jam" as the theme for the ad.

I suppose at least it's better than Mitsubishi using Barenaked Ladies and New Radicals...

so, you got that damn barenaked ladies advert, as well? my god, it spread. i don't mind music in adverts, as long as the music and the ad are cool, and the product isn't douches or something. wonder if the slow jam one will cross over here. i'd rather hear that song on tv one million times than that barenaked crap.

Good spotting, Smokie Bear.....and a quick one tooo...

Yeah, my missus pointed it out to me this afternoon while I was in the kitchen preparing my Chow Mein....no, I didnt drop my noodles....

but, wow!!!...New Order on a TV ad!!! Good choice too....them picking TOE JAM...coz I know that TV ads usually spoils the song for you but in this case, the damage's already done on the day I bought GET READY....

hmmm...so are they trying to convince you fine folks not to run out and buy said car...

a Ford Falcon...I wonder just what the hell that looks like???

I'd imagine it was a nice little earner for the band. Ford are one of the highest profile advertising accounts in the country.

Slow Jam features heavily throughout the ad and actually comes up trumps! The footage depicts a new silver Ford Falcon (the XR8?) cruising through some scenic rugged terrain, with the hookline: "I can't get enough of this". Was quite stunned when I first saw it.

I'd like to meet the guy who had the foresight to run with a little-known New Order album track for such a huge campaign. Car "lifestyle" advertising has worked well here before, but it's always been backed by big hits (Springfield, New Radicals, Barenaked Ladies, Joplin, Eagle Eye Cherry, etc).

Imagine if people actually switched on to New Order because of Slow Jam...

I was eating dinner when I heard a song which sounded very familiar on TV. It took me a few seconds to realise it was Slow Jam. It's getting quiet a bit of play.

Outside chance of Slow Jam being released as a single purely on the strength of an advert?

Durex - "age of consent"

ATMOSPHERE was used on a SKY advert this morning, only caught the last bit of it, I think it was for the new Sky TV guide or something.

To the Aussie contingent (CTB, Depthy, Ahmad and See Ye) fer the chance to win a Live New Order video, you's have to do a wee competition......in no more than 10 words explain

Why the Aussies are gonna piss all over England and win the Ashes in the forthcoming games.

Post yer answers here, the best answer wins the video.....then the lucky winner can copy it fer the others. Having just sent me ole compadre Brendan Sunrise one, I didnae realise it was so fookin expensive:lol:

GOOD LUCK:D

OK, I'll have first crack if you like Australia will express their domination over the "Empire" by demonstrating their sheer arrogance and bogan nature (with a fraction of skill also). This is seen in thier late-80's style shaded eyewear, comedy zinc cream application and propensity to show more skill playing drunk than the 'poms' do sober on the pitch. I don't really like cricket, so I'm not really bothered either way actually. What's on yer Vid, Shuggles? CTB :bear:

I can probably think of a thousand reasons, but I'll boil it down to two words: Robert Key. Yes, the Poms have chosen to replace Graham Thorpe with someone who looks like he should be selling ice cream down at the seaside and whose plans for winter include "taking it easy at home and playing some hockey before Christmas". Have a look at the fearsome features that will terrorise the Aussies this summer: http://msn.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,8990-1065712,00.html

I just saw the ad for the first time ... I love it ... Really suits the commercial and seeing it reminds me just how much I like Slow Jam (except for the 'pretty soon it will be tired' line) ....

Theres nothing wrong with easy money ... !!

Is it an original?

Ok, I've just shelled out a small fortune to watch the 4th & 5th tests & you're telling me we've no chance? ;)

Why didn't I ask you boys first.

Ps Who's Robert Key?

Best use of music in an advert: Buzzcocks "What Do I Get?" for some car (I think the Rav 4 or something like that)

Worst use: Blue Monday Sunkist Singalong

Bloody Aussies:nonono: Have a few tinnies and try and stick to the rules!

The new competiton allows 20 words;)

Johnny Boy, yer not seriously goin tae the other side of the world to see ANOTHER English massacre:evil4: More money than fookin sense!

As fer the video guys, it contains Live at Hultsfred 15th June 2002, 30 minute Interview with Steve, Barney and Hooky, excerpts from Planet Rock (all thanks to lovely Maria from Sweden) and fer the last hour I'll shove a couple of bonus live TV appearances;)

Seeing as ye's have fucked up the Ashes competition (just like England will:lol: )

I have come up with a new competition:nod: In 20 words or LESS I should win this lovely gift from Shug because.....

This vid is well worth 'avin chaps, if only for seeing Barney fall flat on his arse during Crystal . The interview sees them in fine form as well, check out what Barney refers to their last album as, in all seriousness as well.

I'll be well up for abit of sunshine come Chrimbo Shugsy :shine:. Fcuk the cricket, reckon we'll be losing 3-0 before I've even packed me sun block. But 2 weeks on the lash in Melbourne & Sydney is defo worth it even if it does take 1 1/2 days to get there :nonono:. Just hope the Order don't announce any NYE gigs to promote this box set.

Must remember me passport this time.

What, no west coast JG? A few hours closer!

I look forward to spotting your glowing white frame in amongst the Barmy Army... The closest they'll get to cheering a win will be the toss so remember to turn up early.

;)

:\pimp3:

BTW I missed the Prem League scores last weekend- any idea who won Gilesy?

Ideally would have loved to have set up a Perth visit but really wanted to see somewhere different on the return leg so settled for 5 days in Hong Kong.

Still, it's not too far for you to nip over to the East coast for a few jars is it? Quick internal flight, a short xmas break.....

Premiership? Grrrrrrrr. To be fair, Arsenal were awesome & they put on one of the best displays I've ever seen a team give at Elland Road. I'm just getting into practice at supporting a team that gets soundly thrashed. Before you say it.

Well concerning the cricket,

The boys realise that Aus is too nice to leave so they defect to become Aussie Cricket Hooligans (None of them would get a game for Aus anyway)

The boxing day test in Melbourne is where i will be seen this year. Day One, 34 degrees and only medium strength beers. What is wrong with this picture? :evil4:

Well, ......latest news is that this car, FORD FALCON has been temporarily recalled .....due to supension problem....

Will they recall the ads?....Or recall the music?....And replace it with...maybe Turn My Way?...( no, they won't, there's some line about not washing the car.... )

Entertainment Tonight used bits of "Everything's Gone Green" as background music when they did one of their stories (celeb getting married/arrested/shot/ODing, can't remember).

I'm not a big fan of Ford products, song would have been better served to be in a Honda advert
