Lost Siren's Live?

Should they do this now, before the official release? It would certainly generate some excitement, although maybe it would also be seen as antagonistic?

Well I was really keen to hear Lost Sirens and dissapointed at the (indefinite?) delay. But i clicked Maybe as we dont know if there are any really good tracks on there (no, Hellbent doesn't count). If there are, then yeah it might be the only way we get to hear the tunes for quite some time.

something new has to be encouraged.

At least we would know whether or not it would be worth all the debate and future expense in buying the release.

I would love to hear that song live because it is a really good song and I am surprised that they haven't done any remixes on that song, it would have sounded very nice remixed also with a good club beat.

One on hand, it's an interesting idea, but on the other, I can just imagine Hooky's 'response' to the press if it happens.

Using New Order as a vehicle for Bernard's solo stuff is a terrible idea and would invite widespread ridicule. Not to mention it would totally devalue/belittle any contribution Stephen or Gillian (or Hooky) had ever made over the years to New Order's vast catalogue of songs.

In short, it's not on. If they tour as New Order it needs to be solely New Order material in the set. I'm a big fan of what Bernard's done outside of the band as well but it wouldn't be right to start inserting random Twisted Tenderness tracks into the set.

if songs from 'the other two and you' and 'superhighways' were played in their entirety , with bernard playing only guitar, melodica, and keyboards, and stephen and gillian singing and executing the show i would be ecstatic, and as tearfully in bliss as the aforementioned possibles. they could play peter's works from revenge and monaco, and i would be as proud to hear these guys. without peter , and not as a meanspirited gesture, obviously ,but as an homage. all the songs are interesting enough to hear live , so keep them coming please, and hurry please with sirens

In my opinion, Lost Sirens has been mostly judged and sentenced in it's absence which is a bit of a shame really. It makes the alleged Hooky veto of it all the more pointless and disappointing because the fans could have had something positive to focus on.

If these songs missed the cut for an album that includes some shameful dross and major evidence of a band that have forgotten the plot, then they must be pretty shite, and if Hellbent is anything to go by then no ta!

saved for later was the intention . 2008, 2009 could have seen a release of the 9th album. some songs need more listens than others . i remember wincing and hating raise the pressure . 15 years later i liked it all. they were, after all,trying to please , so i gave it another listen. and more marr/sumner is in our future

Saved for later my arse. Several were recorded with Brian Higgins, and they didn't like how they turned out so they binned them. Any concept of Lost Sirens is a barrel scrape.

i just read that higgins was involved with cher . so all of the lost sirens may be some sort of soul disco with high whiny voices. that won't work

Anyway, I hope Lost Sirens gets released someday so that those who want to listen to it and see if there's anything they like can do that. Even if they are not perfect, and even if it didn't fit on WFTSC, I wouldn't mind listening to them. In fact, I don't mind watching deleted or unused scenes from a film either, even if they didn't fit into it or was not good enough.

This is SO gonna happen mate! I think we all wanna hear the Sirens even if we're not expecting anything as strong as Technique or PC'n'L. Utimately as there've been relatively few actual songs over so many years / reworkings I'll just be chuffed to have something 'new' for my collection. Incidentally, the 'Lec made a very good album then a very disappointing album then a quite good one. With Revenge - Monaco it was disappointing then very good then quite good. Personally I never enjoyed the O2 - they're intriguing 'cos (a) they started at the height of my enthusiasm and (b) they're so different from the standard single - album - tour outfit, but release-wise it was all anonymous instrumentals and Stock Aitken and Waterman. I loved the Freebass and BL efforts but that's another story.

I would rather have them play "Denial" or, well, "The Him".

generally he'd get royalties for the song writing and a fee for use of the song but he wouldnt get a performance royalty on the cd , some legal person could elaborate further.

I'm overjoyed with the reinvention of their current setlists and the introduction of HTS, R&R, 1963, Elegia, AOC, 586 and ditching the now worn out JD stuff.

I'd love them to add Thieves Like Us, Vanishing Point, Mr Disco, Chemical, and Spooky to the list of songs..

No, not at all. We’d just done Waiting for the Sirens' Call and had enough material for two albums: We still have. We’ve got this whole bunch of tracks that we want to put out. You could say ‘Eugh, they’re just the outtakes that weren’t good enough to put on the last album,’ but they’re not. Basically, we realised we had two albums; it was more about how to split [the material]. So we ended up finishing off the first lot, but we still had eight tracks leftover. The idea was that we would finish those quite quickly, because everything with New Order seems to take five years. For one reason or another, history shows what, it never happened. Obviously there’s no way we can add to them now, it’s just a thing in itself, which is going to be like an eight track mini-album. We’re trying hard to get them out.
