The 'SECCstasy' Bootleg

... and here she is, the 'bootleg' in question.

12" Vinyl Album - 'Pink' background colour overall with a 'sun wall picture' (a wall at the S.E.C.C.?) on the front and a series of religious '3-D head carvings' on the back (not unlike a church).

No 'Mr. Disco' I'm afraid, however, the overall content is first class (wouldn't you agree?!... a fine vintage). I'm sure most of us would pay good money to see that little lot blasted out nowadays.

This should wrap up any questions about the origin of this piece of vinyl. As stated previously, an excellent recording... if not a slightly oddball find.

Any comments?

I was at this gig, it was a Saturday night and A Guy Called Gerald supported. I'm not sure whether the gig was played in the main SECC as the venue was all standing apart from a few seats at the back. I think they opened with Mr Disco and may also have done Blue Monday and Perfect Kiss but I could be wrong.

Me and my mates had an impromtu England -v- Scotland game with a few guys we met in the car park with an old tennis ball - I think it was an honourable draw until the security guards told us to sling our hooks.

I heard a recording of the gig the day before this show and noticed Run didn't come across very good live. Is the version from SECC super fast? I like Run on Technique but not live. Does Barney play the melody at the end of Run live on the melodica?

Round&Round on the other hand, sounds great live. perhaps better than the lp version.

1963 is really impressive live. Great intro.

Shellshock and Confusion were a little dissappointing to hear on the anthologies. For example, in the Doncaster show, Barney starts singing right after the WRL sample...i enjoy when he misses his que and the intro's are extended. Were these songs good live, in the flesh. Recordings cannot capture the real feel of a performance so i;m trying to assess their impact in a performance. From what i've noticed, barney comes in really early and the arrangements seem shakey. any comments?

it seems like the majority of neworder lp cuts are faded out at the end. when the reissues start streaming in i hope they reconsider the running times on Low-Life in particular. 8minutes is never too long when you're dealing with a neworder song.
