RESTLESS (12" SINGLE) Release date (UK): October 10. Cat. # 12MUTE541

  1. Restless [Extended Mix]
  2. Restless [Andrew Weatherall Remix]
  3. Restless [Agoria Remix]

See the image below... Could you see the promo (?) CD under the press sheet with the "green sleeve" as this upcoming 12"?

Bingo. I hate to say I told you but...Oh actually no, I like saying that. Told you! (page 1 of "More New Album News")

So you got the deails from Amazon Japan by the looks of it (via Petersaville.info). I see it's also listed on Tower Records Japan at a more expensive price.

Yeah it looks like a proper jewel case which you don't get very often with promo CDs. You found that on somebody's instagram? There will be one or two people around here drooling and scheming about getting their hands on that CD.

Agoria is an interesting choice of remixer. Proper techno artist. I suspect it will be a banging track, probably with just a bit of vocal left from the original. Anyone curious about Agoria could do worse than start with La Onzieme Marche. The breakdown and build-up from 4.22 is just fantastic (admittedly Phil Kieran is mosty responsible for the breakdown bit).

Good detective work Aracri!

Yep, I found it on the Instagram of a radio show presenter from New Rock 101.4 Station, California.

And yes, I'm one of these promo hunters! [:)] Until now I've just got a one track promo of "Restless" - the "yellow" one in a cardboard sleeve. Another "yellow" promo in jewell case exists and it contains two tracks: the radio edit and the album version.

So what is the proper title for the free download with pre-order? Another verse was added.

Something like "you too can go and study, this climate ain't doing so well.
get out of town, the streets are running rivers full of blood.
The more i see the less, the less that I believe.
The more I hear, the less, the less that I perceive."

Just had an email from New Order (well, Mute) that I guess could be included in both the New Album News thread and this one. Looks like there will actually be a CD single for the Restless mixes. Perhaps no need to hunt down a promo CD after all.

See the full email HERE. Or read the text below.

Hello! We're just a month away from the release of Music Complete, and wanted to keep you up-to-date on all our recent activity!

Last week we launched the video for 'Restless' the first single to be released from our album 'Music Complete'.

Stay tuned to our socials as we roll out the remixes for the forthcoming digital bundle and 12" release over the coming weeks. You'll be able to pre-order the download, CD single and 12" from next week.

The 8-piece deluxe vinyl collection includes the album plus extended versions of all 11 tracks on coloured vinyl and packaged in an archival acid free box, using 1300 micron grey white board and a wire stitch, which is debossed on the lid and base. 200 copies will be signed by all 5 members of the band; the signed editions will be dispatched at random and are exclusive to our web store.

PRE-ORDER NOW All orders receive an instant download of ‘Restless’.

You can also pre-order the album at iTunes, Amazon and Google Play.

That's the 5 minute album version. There's also the 4 minute single/video version (with no mix title, on Amazon and a few other download stores - but not iTunes), plus the 3 minute radio edit (on promo CDs only so far). Anyone heard the short radio edit yet?

Wonder how long the extended mix will be?

Yes, I did. I have heard it a couple of times on... Erm, the radio. "Restless" is playing on a daily basis on WFUV radio from New York City and I also have downloaded a 128 kbps version when it was available on KCRW's Today's Top Tune: http://www.kcrw.com/music/shows/todays-top-tune/new-order-restless

Which bit(s) were edited out to shave a minute off?

The Radio Edit cuts off the instrumental bit that starts around 02:50 in the Single/Video version, plays the chorus a couple of times and finishes with a fade out.

Correcting: two track promo in a jewell case comes in green as the planned 12".

Does anybody knows if "Restless" in the CD format will come with the promo video in it?

The Agoria remix isn't very inventive. Continuing to have faith that Weatherall will do a proper remix. Judging by his recent remix work and the Asphodells album, his remix will likely add a Hooky-ish post-punk bassline.

When I heard Weatherall's remix back in June, I seem to recall it having a sort of Underworldy electronic feel to it. I don't remember much about the bassline to be honest.

The link that Linus posted above is for American Amazon. Where do the rest of us order the physical release from? Not even NewOrderNow seems to have a listing or a link for pre ordering the physical thing.

EDIT: Well after some googling... Piccadilly Records in Manchester has the CD and Vinyl to pre-order, as does Rough Trade in London. Phonica in London has the vinyl only (to pre-order).

The Agoria Remix of Restless is available to buy on Qobuz for 79p.

You get the full quality FLAC for that or an MP3 download if you prefer.

The extended version of Restless comes in at over 8 minutes long. Somebody was asking about this.

The complete track times for the Restless CD single are:

  1. Restless (Single Version) (04:31)
  2. Restless (Extended 12" Mix) (08:14)
  3. Restless (Agoria Remix) (06:48)
  4. Restless (xxxy Build Up Mix) (06:47)
  5. Restless (RAC Mix) (06:44)
  6. Restless (Andrew Weatherall Remix) (07:47) (source)

Not bad.

The picture above is the CD single artwork. It cames in red.

I suppose the current color distribution is: YELLOW: 1 track single promo / 1 track single download / US 12" single. GREEN: 2 track single promo / 12" single. RED: CD single.

Probably just me but wouldn't it have been better to have the physical cd/vinyl etc release of the single a few weeks before the album instead of a couple of weeks after? And then release a second single in November from the album to coincide with the tour?

Still, i guess it's New Order afterall so it's never the more logical starightforward way.Like releasing The Perfect Kiss on the same day as Low Life so it gets somewhat overlooked (well that's what it felt like at the time to me)

Due to the stupidly long waiting times for vinyl these days things don't happen quite the way you'd like. Remixes can take time to be delivered, being mainly commissioned after the track is completed in the first place.

Anyone sussed out any economical options for buying the UK 12" and CD releases online and shipping overseas?

Spotted the first re-seller offering a pre-order on eBay but he ain't cheap: UK Restless 12" & CD bundle

I'll probably go Amazon for the US 12".

I've contacted the Mute AU distributors and they're not importing any singles, only album formats.

The Restless 12' and the CD single are available now on store.neworder.com (don't know if they ship to Australia)

The first pressing only will be green vinyl.

The CD single includes limited edition slipcase to hold all future CD singles from ‘Music Complete’. The slipcase will only be available from the New Order store.

£2.99 shipping? WTF? Even though i'm in the UK? £2.99 shipping for a £4.99 cd single that only has 2 tracks on (Restless and Restless Agoria mix which i don't really want anyway) I was only going to get it for the slipcase.Think i'll give it a miss.Tossers.

1 1 like

Oh, in the details it does state you get all the mixes but even so £2.99 shipping for a cd single? WTF

So, another option is to just download the 6 tracks for £2.99...and there will be nothing to ship [;)]

Hmm they must have added these Restless options recently. I couldn't see this stuff when I started googling for physical stuff and finding it on Piccadilly Records and Rough Trade's sites (as per a previous post here). I tweeted the official NO twitter too and they didn't reply. Bit annoying as I've already placed orders elsewhere...

Well yeah, but i like to collect the actual physical cds, vinyl etc when it comes to New Order and i'd like to have the slipcase thing. I've calmed down a bit now and guess i'll shell out like a mug the almost £8 for the cd and shipping. It's just, i don't know, is it normally nearly £3 to ship a cd single? I don't really buy cd singles online only cd albums so maybe £3 is the going rate but it's usually less than that to ship a cd album isn't it? A cd single in a jewel case is exactly the same size and weight as a cd album in a jewel case i suppose.

Fair point. It's £1.26 for a standard CD album on Amazon. Why should it be three quid for this?

Also cheaper to pre order Music Complete CD from Amazon (which i did) than from the NewOrder store.Although you could then get into the politics of Amazon paying their employees crap wages.

And you can argue that if you buy Music Complete CD from the NewOrder store you also get the HD and MP3 download included which you wouldn't get from Amazon but i will get them anyway because i ordered the Deluxe Box set.Only really bought the cd from Amazon so i can see and have the cd booklet on 25th September.Though maybe there'll be a digital booklet with the HD download? Then i really will have wasted my money buying the CD.

Well...

The CD single is £6.54 + £1.26 postage on Amazon which is £7.80 total.

From the New Order store it's £4.99 + £2.99 postage which is £7.98.

So for £0.18 extra you get the limited edition slipcase.

Glad I only ordered the limited vinyl from Piccadilly Records now and left the CD. Just ordered it from the official store.

I suppose it depends what the slipcase is made of, how many CD's it's designed to hold, and how it's packaged that determines the postage price. It could be flat packed cardboard or ready made from other materials. I don't see any info about this yet.

Can you not cancel your original order for this @Fotzepolitic from the source you placed it with as it's only a pre order? You can with Amazon. Depends on their terms and conditions I suppose.

I've just think about that: Will not the Restless green vinyl be exactly the same as the one included in the deluxe vinyl box of Music Complete ? [skeptic]

Besides the 2 pcs of vinyl within the box set that contain the album, the remaining 6 pcs will carry the extended mixes of the 11 tracks. 2 tracks per physical copy, the final one being one-sided.

The 12" copy of Restless available to pre order now is 2 sided and therefore a different item than the one that will be included in the box set.

I have confirmation of this also from Mute.

It depends on where you've ordered them from really. Amazon for instance should deliver on the day of release. Other places who have a courier service in place for an extra fee most likely might not get to you until a couple of days later via standard post.

According to the site the estimated delivery times are as follows:

Standard Mail: Europe is 1-7 business days, USA/Canada 7-21 business days and to the rest of the world: 7-30 business days.

Courier: UK is 2-3 business days, rest of Europe 1-3 business days and to the rest of world: 7-10 business days.

Seems strange how standard delivery doesn't mention UK and courier delivery not USA/Canada? You're looking at 1 - 7 days anyhow. Hopefully it will be the former and they get posted out the day before release.

Thanks for your informative post, but if USA and Canada are included in "Rest of the world" then why are they stated separately under standard mail, but amalgamated for courier delivery? My point being that you would expect both options to be consistent with the areas stated. And by your supposition, UK standard delivery would be minimum 1 day, but by courier 2 days. Doesn't really make sense when you think about it does it?

According to an email I received today: "Available on green vinyl, digital download or CD, all purchases from the New Order store receive the RAC and Agoria remixes instantly."

Now when I ordered my copy of the CD 2 days ago, it stated I would receive the Agoria mix only on 15/09 and this is still pending. Has anyone received the downloads or have they just started doing this for new orders, and those of us who have previously placed an order won't receive them?

I pre ordered the Restless CD last night from NewOrder store. After it all went through the download of the Agoria mix showed up as "Processing" , however after 45 minutes it was still processing and i went and did something else.Much later i'd forgotten all about it and turned my laptop off and went to bed.Remembered today and logged into the store and it states the mix had downloaded but i don't have it / cant find it anywhere as far as i can see.Not that i'm that bothered, i'll have it on the cd anyway.

Yup, they appear to be fibbing - RAC remix doesn't appear on the "downloads" and Agoria mix states that we'll have to wait until 15/09 even though you can buy the mixes elsewhere...

First up, anyone complaining about shipping in the UK should cool their jets. I've taken out a second mortgage to ship the vinyl box set plus Restless 12" and CD single down here.

Next up, are Mute new to this digital download game?

  • They stated the Restless RAC and Agoria remixes would be available instantly. Now they're listed as Agoria (15/9) and RAC (18/9)
  • Did anyone actually receive access to a Restless download upon pre-ordering the album? It states you do and yet.. you don't.

They'd want to ensure they've pressed the right buttons on the 25th...

I pre ordered the box set when it was announced. I did get the Restless download via email notification on the day of release. The current status of my CD single just shows the Agoria mix as status 3 - whatever that means? Available date is 15/09 as mentioned above.I've emailed the store anyway to ask for clarification on this. Should hopefully have an answer tomorrow.

CD has SONY, Columbia and Mute logos on it, and D Miller is named as A&R.

Anyway, “Always” is a great song… but this is going way off topic.

It's other Mute artists I'm more interested in, especially for remixes of the other New Order singles, surprised they weren't made use of for this single… Carti Tutti, Factory Floor, Maps, Rex the Dog… lots of potential. Vincent Clarke has being doing some great remixes as well.

Would be interesting to hear Moby remixing some of the new material but I'm not sure if he's on Mute any more. His last couple of albums came out on his own "Little Idiot" imprint but I think he still has ties to Mute in the US at least? As Spittingcat mentioned Maps, getting one of his remixes would be great and I know there are a few Factory Floor fans out there not to mention Steve Morris himself.

I'm assuming the download of Plastic came off the back of the purchase of the deluxe album set.

Just received RAC Remix and a free download of Plastic (which I wasn't expecting), however the Agoria Remix, which was the only one I was expecting initially, is still remaining elusive at present.

Nice one! We might get the Agoria Remix next week sometime if they can figure it out. [:d]

Glad i've also ordered the CD now you've said that.Though i hope i don't have to wait nearly all day for it to drop through my letterbox if the download is malfunctioning.I wonder if the download will become available at midnight on Thursday? Maybe in iTunes it will but i haven't ordered it in iTunes.Maybe the NewOrder store team will wait til they get up and have had breakfast on Friday morning before they press the button? I've booked the day off work on Friday for the day of days so not a problem for me staying up to find out if the NewOrder store download is available at 00.00.And then i'll probably be up til dawn listening to it.

Just to add to the con-con-confusion, I've now received a Plastic download but no sign of the Restless single, or either remix.

And I can't access any via my account.

Really instills great hope they'll sort the album downloads out on time, yeah?

Yeah - a bit odd that, happy to have it but I wasn't expecting another 'instant grat' download from Warners...agreed, the album d/l better bloody well work on the 25th....

You could have just ordered them from 7digital... [:d]

You and your 7digital!

What are they ponying up for referrals these days, OB?

Nothing! The warm feeling I get from knowing I've obviously been a BIG help is payment enough...

I eventually received the Agoria mix from the store yesterday so I'm hoping they have any problems sorted.

Did anyone else receive the Restless 12" from the New Order shop early? It was a pleasant surprise. It is slightly warped but sounds great. I had ordered the deluxe vinyl box, but the 12" made me go looking for the vinyl of the record today. Went to 2 shops and struck out at both. I will have to try again tomorrow. The extended mix (different from the Japanese CD) is really nice. I am also liking the Weatherall mix.Restless 12"

Did you order the 12" by itself? I'm wondering if people who ordered the CD single at the same time also received the 12" early.

Speaking of ordering the 12" and CD as a bundle, I received an email from Recordstore.co.uk today, which went like this:

New Order have unveiled the first remix and full details of their 'Restless' single package, released on Mute on 9 October 2015.The Agoria remix and the Extended 12" mix feature alongside further remixes from xxxy, RAC and long-term collaborator Andrew Weatherall. The 12" green vinyl features both the Agoria and Weatherall remixes, along with the Extended 12" Mix and a download code for access to the full remix bundle. This bundle includes a free limited edition slipcase to hold all future CD singles from 'Music Complete'. Pre-order both 12" vinyl and CD packages and save £2! Click to pre-order!

Might be of interest to those of you who have had enough of the new order store. As you can see, you get the slipcase through these guys as well.

Just one question: Recordstore say in the email that you "save £2!". Well their price is £13.99 for both. The New order store price for both seems to be £12.98. How is Recordstore cheaper? Also, Recordstore are adding £3.95 postage bringing the total up to £17.94. I can't see that the new order store is adding any postage, but I haven't completed the transaction. Who's done it? If it's £12.98 v £17.94 then Recordstore are having a laugh...

Recordstore are selling the 12" single seperately for £8.99, and the CD single seperately for £6.99 (including slipcase)... So, I guess £13.99 is £2 cheaper than £15.98 (well, £1.99 cheaper)!

As to whether it's cheaper than the New Order store, good question - at least you'll get the 12" and CD single from Recordstore either on release day or shortly afterwards... From the New Order store, you *might* get it in time for Christmas! [clown]

Just an FYI for those who may not know, but the UK Mute Bank site is fulfilled by Recordstore.co.uk. So ordering from either site is more or less the same thing.

Mute stopped handling their own fulfillment a number of years ago when they closed the Harrow Road offices whilst under the EMI umbrella.

Yes, that bit was a silly question from me. They are of course comparing to their own (high) prices rather than anyone else's.

Having gone as far as the checkout stage on both sites, I'm pretty sure the new order store is cheaper. They don't appear to be adding any postage costs on at the end. (Has anyone been charged postage at the end of any physical order from the new order store?)

I would check (as I ordered the CD single - for the slipcase - before I knew it was going to be available via Recordstore/Mute), but their shop site seems to be down at the moment?

Got in via a Google cache of the store.neworder.com webpage (which, after logging in, managed to display properly)! [:d]

The CD single on it's own (with slipcase) is broken down as follows:

CD Single - £4.99 Postage - £2.99 Total - £7.98

This is about a quid cheaper than RecordStore which is broken down as follows:

CD Single - £6.99 Postage - £1.95 Total - £8.98

I did order the 12" by itself from the US Store. For some reason the CD single is not available from the US store.
