Music Incomplete - Shambles At The New Order store

New member here, but a long-term New Order fan since 1985. I'm having problems with the 'official New Order store' (which, of course, is just a front for the Warner Music on-line store). I usually hate downloads and on-line orders and much prefer to just go out and BUY records I want, but against my better judgement, I signed up for the store for Music Complete at the start of September, ordered the boxed set, and then a few days later, I ordered the Restless vinyl and CD.

I've had none of the promised downloads; they're on my Store account when I log in and go and look at it, but the downloads are shown as 'pending' and can't be accessed, and I've had none of the directly emailed download links I was promised. Of much more concern to me, though, is the fact that although I ordered the boxed set and then the Restless single, the store now shows my only remaining outstanding order as the Restless CD and 12-inch. My boxed set order is no longer mentioned, even when I click 'Show All' [Orders].

Have they got my boxed set order or not? I wondered, when I noticed this yesterday. After all, I have paid for it. I wanted to confirm my order. But of course, they don't take phone enquiries. So I tried to email, using the crappy form on the site - and it's not working. It just says 'Your message cannot be delivered - try later' - over and over again.

So, the site takes my money (a reasonable amount of it, too), but then doesn't deliver any of what it offered in exchange, appears to lose some of my order, and when I try to query the current status, it proves impossible to reach anyone who will take responsibility. This is not a great way to win customers.

This is why I like going to a counter, handing over cash and walking away with a music release IN MY HAND. After over 10 years of music downloads, so many of the companies providing this service just haven't remotely got their shit together. The documentation for these store releases is awful, it's unclear exactly what's on each, the information on what downloads come with each purchase is contradictory and then only certain people even get their downloads when they order anyway. So far, my experience of the store has been a shambles.

Anyone else this cheesed off at the 'official' store? I'm currently pursuing various ways of getting hold of someone who can give me a straight answer on this stuff. Hiding behind a form that won't deliver messages is just not good enough in this day and age.

I hope the album is worth it after all this...!

Harrowing stuff. Feel for you , mate.Sounds silly but have you checked your trash/spam in email? I discovered a week or two after setting up my account with the store back in June that their emails to me had been going to my trash/spam.

I've not had a problem with the store other than the Agoria mix download still showing as pending whilst others have received theirs.

Beware that if you ordered the Restless single with the Boxset or any other item they will only send out after the single is released in October! I found this out by rechecking my order! As I am going away Saturday this is beneficial to me as I don't want these going back and forth with Royal Mail/courier. Still doesn't explain why no download received or wtf is your Boxset. I prefer to check the covers and buy as seen so hate this new technology and online buying shit! I better go now I need a lie down. Respect Rocket Mick

Yeah, I've done all the usual, checking Spam/Trash etc, but there's nothing there. Thanks for the suggestions, though!

This stuff makes me feel like even more of a grumpy old man than I'm rapidly becoming. I'm not averse to buying on-line - but with most places, you can phone someone upo if it goes wrong, they can look up or track your order and tell you what's up. But the official store is done in a piss-poor, on-the-cheap model and is badly implemented to boot. So in summary, it's rubbish, so it goes wrong — and when it goes wrong, you can't get anyone to help you...!

Email them at this address:

help@wmgcustomerservice.com

I had a few problems with my downloads, but I eventually received them last Friday & Monday, but only after I had to email them several times. They said they were experiencing problems in sending them out, but on Monday, when I last messaged them, stating I was still missing the Agoria mix of Restless, I received a download link within 10 minutes. The above address is the one that they used for correspondence. The "contact us" site link only seems to work occasionally.

3 3 likes

Many thanks for the email address! I'll send the same message of complaint to that one that I've sent to a couple of other places. It'll be interesting to see if the phone complaint I've put in train at Warners Group results in anything too.

Whatever happens from here on in, it's *still* piss-poor. Firstly, it's crazy that I should have to get a contact email address from you fine people here, because their cheap'n'crappy on-line contact form keeps breaking, or only ever works intermittently. If you're going to be cheap enough to not offer phone support, then make sure that the one means of contact you do offer works, and is responded to promptly. But that's not the case here. Secondly, it's crazy that so many other people from this small on-line community are having problems. This is Warner Group's on-line store - it's not like they're not used to delivering downloads from all sorts of artists to all kinds of customers all over the world. And yet it's working as flakily as we can see. Finally, I think it's similarly mad that the results of people using the service are so varied - some get their downloads on time when promised, others don't but get them later, yet others do but only after they've complained and made a fuss, and still yet other customers again don't even get them when they *do* complain. Such variability of outcomes does not suggest a reliable, time-honed, smooth-operating machine. Quite the opposite, in fact.

This kind of crap makes me long for the days of my friendly record shop - sadly long since gone. Walk in, hand over the coins, walk out with music you can play anywhere. Job done.

As Charlie Brown would say: "Sigh..."

I've been banging me head against a wall too. I accidentally opened the 'Plastic' download link on my iPhone (too many times apparently) and now I can't download to my PC.

Customer Care (LOL)

Dear customer, we are sorry, but the following error has occurred during your download : Max download URL hit has been reached Error code:DEL.SHO.T003

If anyone can send me their Plastic MP3 I'd be most appreciative because I haven't had a reply from Warner Store despite countless emails.

Anyway its good to be back on here after years in the wilderness (and recently lurking) although I had to reregister on to the Forum again. Some great discussions and comments re: the new album.

Unrelated to the "shambles" but if you were lucky enough to spot those music retailers who put vinyl copies of Music Complete on sale slightly early this week and managed to nab a copy then you'll be pleased to know that the Mute web site listed on the download card is now live. Basically if you bought a vinyl copy you should get also get the album in standard MP3 format as well as studio-quality 96khz/24-bit FLAC format. Hurrah. It bodes well for people expecting digital copies tomorrow I would have thought.

not having a 'fine time' on their website.

first they cancelled my order for the boxset.

ok, i then i ordered it again.....

now, i can't login into the website, i can't recover the password, and no response to the emails.

forget about getting links to the songs........

anyways, at some point, when the boxset comes out, i should be getting (away with) it..... or maybe not...

they did charge me for the fun though.

LOL - same here [hi]

Got up this morning I thought that you might like to know

I received Restless in full just a few weeks ago

Not entirely unbelievable, given this technological age, so have sent a message to customer services and will wait it out. I paid upfront for the HD album download, got the Restless single for free, wasn't given a sniff of Plastic, have no idea where Music Complete is.

Same.

In fact, I have FOUR identical e-mails telling me the HD download is ready. Clicked the first one and got Restless, if I click any of the others I'm told that I've reached my download limit!

Maybe the actual CD will drop onto the door mat later - but I'm not holding my breath...

Brilliant. Despite spending £70 on the box set bollocks I can't even download the album 8 hours into release day.

Anyone else not got access to their download through the new order store?

Add me to the list of disillusioned fuckers who received 4 emails at c.4am with a link claiming to be Music Complete HD download, only to get Restless again.

Clicked on the second email to see if it had a corrected link, only to be told I'd exceeded my download limit! The cheeky bastards.

If it wasn't for -1 and his delightful samplermix, I'd be getting out my blunderbuss and hunting down Mute techs.

Oh, I also had a 5th email, saying that my CD is out & about with my local Hermes delivery agent. Fingers crossed, there, I guess.

And still no clue how I can purchase the extended mixes off them. That's going to be fun!

The other link led to

"Sorry, maximum download limit expired" or something before i even logged in to the store and then when i did log in the download doesn't even appear or show.

F*cking shambolic does not come close!! I now have an email but...

neither link works (MP3 nor HD audio):

One link in the email gives me this:

Sorry, maximum download limit have been reached.

And the other link takes me to this:

Dear customer, we are sorry, but the following error has occurred during your download : Your order is not ready yet. Please retry in a few moments. Error code:DEL.DEL.T002

****** UPDATE: one of the links is now working (MP3: 155MB) although link states HD, but still not the other HD link.Happier for now but they seriously need to get their shit together.

Have been following the shambles and double-checking the email links for my HD Audio and (presumably) MP3 downloads - no joy still, and now on clicking either link I get a "Sorry, maximum download limit have been reached." Funnily enough I haven't received any download files yet, so who knows how I've exceeded any limits!

Have emailed the WB customer support but if anyone else has got hints/tips please advise, thanks.

Useless shitmunchers. Here's how it works.

  1. "You'll Get A Download On Day Of Release!"
  2. "Here's an email - here's your download" (12 hours after release!!)
  3. "Oooops Downlaod Not Ready". (but we won't tell you every attempt to find your download counds towards your bullshit download limit)
  4. "Maximum Download Limit Exceeded"
  5. "Why don't you throw an email into a black hole and see what happens?"
  6. "Hey! You've got an empty postbox and you haven't got your fancy box set on the release..."
  7. Tumbleweed.

INCOMPETENT.

Had a reply to my complaint (sent at 6am) with new links.

First link led to Restless - despite being labeled as Music Complete - and I now have three copies of this.

Second link led me to Music Complete - and then told me to bugger off because site was busy.

Tried again straight away - now downloading an ENORMOUS file.

The HD download is 1.4GB and takes approximately 48minutes. I am currently on 0.6GB.....

1 1 like

I'm finally downloading what I take to be the MP3 version (148MB) after a number of emails to customer support, lots of failed links and repeated downloads of the Restless MP3. I hope that the HD download will someday appear on the account dashboard in the official store because even though there is another link in my email that I've yet to get a successful download from, it seems a bit hit and miss with these emailed links.

Out of interest, I still don't have a working download link for the Agoria mix of Restless which I'm not overly bothered about because it's shit.

I have problems as well. I ordered the box back in June. No problems with Restless and Plastic downloads, but no email on the download of the album for me yet, the store says I don't have any downloads either. Still says my order is pending. I checked my credit card and it's still a pending charge there....ugh.

1 1 like

I have had the download for Music Complete (147 mb), that was after numerous emails.... the other download links sent (twice now) still say I have exceeded the limit though all I have done is tried to download them. This is just stupid and very annoying.

I've got 2 emails with 5 links all claiming to be "Music Complete HD Audio Download". So far, 2 have downloaded, both being Restless, labelled as mp3's, however only one works and I already received it weeks ago. The other 3 files are still to download as they are taking some time. I do hope they're not all duplicate HD files as it's taking an age and will be a waste of time.

At least they seem to be working I suppose so I shouldn't really complain.

1 1 like

Finally downloaded, converted, uploaded to cloud, downloaded to phone - off for a three mile walk and a bit of shopping with my headphones glued to my ears.

For those still waiting, don't lose heart. I suspect that their download site is getting crippled by the HUGE spike in traffic this last twelve hours. If you get two links (like I did), go to both of them. One is possibly Restless and the other will be the album. The Zip file is 1.7GB and the entire contents (when opened) are around 3.4GB.

Freaking amazing sound in HD, unlike nothing i've ever experienced when listening to music. Not sure which preset is best yet.Trying a few different ones with each track - Rock or Full Bass & Treble or oFull Bass or Full Treble or Dance or Laptop/Headphones (guess this one as i'm using headphones right now) or Classical or... god there's so many choices and then you can even twat about with the settings with whatever preset you choose..

I posted this on the New Order Facebook page this morning in a response to a post saying "Its here!":

"Except it's not "here" for the suckers who shelled out £70 for the box set which supposedly includes a download of the album. Give me my download you bastards"

Mute have responded:

"Sorry about the trouble with the box set download of the album, there was a technical issue this morning. This has now been fixed.Contact customerserviceteam@warnermusic.com if you still can’t download!"

The 3 remaining files I had eventually downloaded after about an hour or so. They were zip files, 1 containing the mp3 versions of the album, and the other 2 containing the FLAC files. I extracted the first HD folder fine, which contained the first 7 tracks. However, half way through extracting the second folder, my device decided to switch itself off. I retried this, once back up and running, but to no avail. It told me that the file was now corrupt.

I tried to download the file again from the original link I was mailed, but it now will not work. I only downloaded each file once, but it wouldn't work a second time. I've had to email customer services and explain this to them.

All the original files were labelled as HD downloads too, so I had no idea which was which.

Now I'm just waiting. Most probably won't get them until Monday now. Grrr.

1 1 like

Bit puzzled now.I thought i'd downloaded the HD version but have i? The whole album file in total is 1.4gb so that has to be the HD right? Each track is 96Khz 24bit Bit Rate 4,608 kbps Audio Quality Perfect (Lossless) but it says they are Flac files... Should it state they are HD? Buggered if i know.

1 1 like

That's correct. The FLAC files are the HD download.

The store has just resent me two simpler files, citing they were having problems (again) today.

One is lossless FLAC and the other mp3.

I'm sorted now.

Are the extended versions on this download, or is t just the 'regular' LP mixes?

Oh great. So the downloads are the 'regular' mixes. That means the only way to get the extended full length mixes is on physical slabs of vinyl? Thanks Warners. What about those of us that like to listen to music when not welded to a turntable at home?

I must admit I'm disappointed that the Limited Edition 2LP (Clear Vinyl) I pre-ordered from the official store did not arrive in the post either yesterday or today. That is quite poor as they've had months to plan deliveries and post them slightly early so people would receive their physical copies on release day. Being the first proper full-length New Order album in 10 years it's just.... yeah... not wonderful. What rubbed salt in the wound for me was being in a record shop yesterday and seeing literally piles of the clear vinyl edition but there was no way I was buying it twice. Incidentally, I am not talking about the Deluxe Box Set which we were warned would be delayed (fair enough).

I have experienced similar problems with numerous other "official stores"; I ordered the latest Leftfield album from their store and it arrived approximately one week late and their communication was vague and crap - the e-mail reply equivalent of shrugged shoulders. Similarly with the recent Chemical Brothers CD, I got it a good few days after it had been delivered/displayed on shop shelves. Why are 'official' stores so rubbish at delivering stuff on time? I'm certainly going to think twice and order elsewhere in future.

Record labels really do need to do right by fans who have handed over their money months in advance. Those on the record label technical side need to ensure the infrastructure is in place so when fans place a pre-order in good faith they get the product on release day or at the very least an decent explanation why not.

Otherwise I fear exasperated fans really will just shove two fingers up to the whole process and appropriate the music by 'other means'.

On a more positive note (for the band) I notice that both the Limited Edition 2LP (Clear Vinyl) and the Deluxe Vinyl Box Set have completely sold out on the official store.

No word on if they'll be pressing more copies... if they're both supposed to be limited then that's doubtful?

Long time since I saw “the server is too busy” here!

I hope we can get non vinyl extended versions (whether cd or download) because it appears I no longer own a turntable and haven’t for many years. Ideally everything including all remixes would eventually be available at the iTunes store surely - why would they not be? I haven’t had any probs with that, touch wood. Loving the album. Just can’t get enough, quite literally as I have only managed 2 and a bit listens yet. Busy day and I’m not one for headphones. But I am in its grip, in a good way. Long may it continue 😎

You know what the real problem is here? The record companies, after losing out to amazon, Apple and Google are incredibly late to the digital distribution game so they try to catch up but won't pay to do it properly (just like Hooky is too tight to pay for a support act!) So they massively underestimate the demand and end up letting their loyal customers down. Not only that but they imagine that it is going to be simple to set up a storefront online for each label and artist that will cope with widely varying spikes in demand without any serious problems. I mean, it's not like anybody has ever managed to do it properly before is it? (I'm being ironic here obviously.)

I've finally got my HD and MP3 downloads and I thank Warner for that (and how does that work? Is Warner the international distributor? Are they handling Mute's delivery platform?) but I do hope things are smoother when the extended versions are released.

Warner is the strongman over many imps. You know it is Warner when your YouTube channel gets a dent as soon as you play one single note of any record under their control.

I am wondering if the live shows will get hit when folk begin to upload in November.

I've cancelled my pre order from Piccadilly Records now and ordered it from the New Order store as you're the second person on here to say you've got your copy.

Incidentally, after I ordered it, I was promised instant downloads of both the Agoria and RAC remixes. I already have them, so not bothered by this, but this was part of the email I got soon after:

Item Restless - Limited Edition 12” Green Vinyl (Pre-order - released on: 09/10/2015 1 £7.99

Item 1 (Pre-order - released on: 09/10/2015) Item 2 Restless (Agoria Remix)
Item 3 Restless (Agoria Remix)

Only one download came via a link, which was surprisingly the Agoria Remix. No RAC mix was sent.

It's all a bit crazy. It's not like it's just gone on sale.

They're not the quickest at sorting things out are they? If emailing the store and Mute hasn't got you a response try contacting them on messenger, if you have it, or commenting on one of their Facebook posts. Sometimes you might get a reaction. It helped in getting my downloads sorted when I had a problem with them.

Can anyone help me out with MP3's of the extended versiosn? Warners email is a black hole.

Do you mean the download page for the extended mixes only has Restless twice (which aren't even the extended , box set, version? Can't quite understand what you are saying here.

edit: You download the HD and MP3 versions of the extended versions from the Mute page stated on the small card with a download code that you should have received inside the box set, not from NewOrderNow

I'm about 400 miles from home with a parcel from Hermes waiting in my porch. Good thing I have someone I live with otherwise it would've been there for several days waiting to get fucking stolen.

When I ordered "Restless" I got the MP3's from My Downloads inside the NO Merch Store. When I ordered "Music Complete Fancy Schmancy Box Set" the downloads aren't inside the NO Merch Store but on a seperate download card inside the physical box set? That's inconsistent. Also, good thing my box set - which was abandoned outside my front door when I was hundreds of miles away - didn't get stolen.

When I get back I'll check the box set. In the meantime I guess I'll wait to hear it. Grrr.

Yep, that's correct. You'll have to wait to get home, open your box set and look for the download card which directs you to a Mute download page ,not the NewOrderNow store, with the extended versions in HD and MP3.

Do not use warners controlled new order site. They are truly dreadful.they messed up my restless 12" and now they will not answer me after messing up my t shirt order with an Ed Sheeran mug[clown]. Of all the things to send me instead a fuckin Ed Sheeran mug, maybe I can use it as a piss pot

7 emails later and still no response, they are a disgrace and obviously never heard of customer service. How the hell do you complain about these bunch of tossers?

I think I may start sending the same email to them 100 times a day to get a response. Luckily my box set did arrive, it's the first thing they have got right.

Unless it is a store exclusive then I would avoid and go elsewhere.

When I had problems with downloads of Restless after the problems with the album and previous instant grats, the store just decided to ignore me. They admitted that they were having problems, but obviously they didn't know how to solve it so just buried their head in the sand which pissed me off even more.

So I slagged them off in a post on NO's page and I got a reply from Mute:

"Hi - please contact mute@mute.com and we will take care of this immediately. Thanks!"

This I did, and after a few days I received working links to all the current available downloads.

However, Mute seems to be selective in their replies. It depends on who you get.

I made a few enquiries over the poster, then one day someone messaged me and offered to send one to me if I gave them my address details. I excitedly forwarded them on, but then nothing materialised and I just felt let down by them. Don't get someone's hopes up and then take the Michael. I just think through when and where I place my orders now. I won't use the store if possible.

Basically there's no guarantees with them, it's just the luck of the draw, but try and email Mute. You never know, they might pleasantly surprise you...

Due to there (apparently) being no HD Audio version of the upcoming Tutti Frutti single - only 'Audio Download' is available for pre-order - I'll probably purchase the CD elsewhere this time around.

The NO store is a good idea but Mute need to work on it and make it better. I am rather surprised after so many years of digital music being the norm, fans have had such poor experiences.

That said, if the store suddenly decided to offer an HD Audio version of Tutti I would most definitely reconsider where to spend my cash (hint, hint...)

I'm in the same boat.

My boxset never arrived. Ordered within minutes of it going on-sale. Got the delivery confirmation email but the parcel never moved from (or arrived at?) the depot.

Emailed all week. Frustrated beyond belief!!

Wow i'm beginning to realise i've been lucky with the NewOrder store after reading some of these stories.Box set arrived on time without any damage, the mp3 and HD downloads of the extendeds went smoothly (though yeah, those were from a Mute page not the NO store), the HD and mp3 downloads of the original album went smoothly back in September on release day.The singles slipcase arrived on time only very very slightly damaged. The Restless CD arrived on time. The only problem i had was i never did receive the Restless Agoria mix HD (or was it just mp3 that one? Can't remember now) download - it's still sitting there in my account but i can't be arsed to chase it up, i have it on the CD single.Wary of any future dealings with the store though, my luck has to run out sometime.

I kicked this thread off, and I did have much to complain about. My downloads of the Restless mixes *never* became available through my account — someone at Warners had to send me them after I complained by phone and email (and although I no longer need them, the mixes are STILL showing as 'pending' on my account). What's more, my order of the boxed set NEVER appeared on my account's order list, which seriously worried me for a while in case it had vanished into the ether like some other people's orders on here.

On the other hand, the album downloads did come to me over email automatically on the release date, and the box turned up in the post at my place on time last week, despite the store's continued insistence that my order didn't exist (which underlines the cruddiness of their systems — even when talking on the phone to Warners staff who were checking through the on-line system, they couldn't confirm that my order existed, but it must nonetheless have been in there somewhere, as my box WAS eventually delivered)! None of these subsequent successes excuse the spotty performance of the store, though, and clearly others have their horror stories to tell, as a quick read through this thread shows. It's pretty clear that the Warners-run on-line store is a shoestring-run crock of an organisation that manages to successfully fulfil some of its orders while making an utter dogs' dinner of others. I'm no particular fan of the iTunes store (give me old-school CD and vinyl sold from a bricks and mortar store by staff that love what they're doing any day), but the iTunes store is a model that runs smooth as silk compared with the cowboy Warners operation, which is odd considering iTunes had been running as a successful business for years before Warners came along with their on-line operation. All they had to do was copy what Jobs & Co had set up, but obviously in the current climate of declining music sales, they didn't want to actually put any real money behind it, so, surprise surprise: a) it's done on the cheap and b) it's crap.

Music Complete is an absolute triumph in my book, as are the 'Boxtended' versions and package. I just wish it hadn't been such a grind for some people to get the damned thing...

I complained to Mute and it was sorted straight away, got an apology even fromWarners. So if any of you are still having problems I would email Mute with your store order number.

although i had my problems with the store.

i would take this anyday over anything from apple, for itunes.... that bloated software junk that keeps asking for updates, and is a slow molasses like program, with a horribly cluttered interface. *#*$#*_$*_#*#*

unfortunately they have some exclusives that force people to use their ancient software.

On the other hand, it's ideal for me because although it may have the odd glitch, on the whole it’s practically instantaneous, with no worries about the law breathing down my neck in a few weeks/months/years. Have internet connection, make purchase, receive item. And no faffing with vinyl. [:)]

that doesn't do any good if you bought the boxset.

the download codes were inside the boxset, so if you didn't get it. no luck.

There’s no mention (that I can see) of download codes at the NONow store or at Amazon either. Not necessarily disbelieving they would be included, but suppose they weren’t - if that's what you bought it for, not the vinyl. Only place d/l codes are mentioned is here, I think? Doesn’t matter though unless you buy it, which I haven't.
