...actually there are two definite favourites, Loveless and Dream Attack, but i'll go for Loveless because of it's brilliant lyrics.

Difficult one. I love all songs, except the three singles and Mr Disco which I find too... superficial. They lack some substance (I'm not talking about the one they took when writing Fine Time  ). I'll go for Dream Attack, but Loveless and Vanishing Point might be my choice tomorrow.

and I absolutely adore Mr. Disco...strange how fans can have such varying opinions of the same song...

Same here.. I voted for Run because it is my favorite New Order track.. but I truly like Mr Disco despite its ridiculous title.

I don't like Fine Time, Guilty Partner is so-so, the rest of the album is just great.

But, you have to make a decision!

Vanishing Point, but I love Round and Round, Fine time, and Mr. Disco about equally....damn these "only one vote" polls!

Actually, I voted Love Less too! :shy:

Mr. Disco just for those trippy synth effects about 1 minute before the end. People listening with headphones know what I'm talking about :music:

What about All the Way? It's pretty much perfect in my opinion.

tough choice between the sublime Vanishing Point...and the equal genius of Dream Attack

superb album crowned bt the sublime run...

Tough question! This album is total class. I could easily pick "Mr. Disco" or "Dream Attack" or "Vanishing Point" or "Round & Round" or even "Run" but my vote goes for "Love Less". I've always loved this track. The lyrics seem heartfelt, probably about his ex-wife I guess?

vanishing point= goose pimples.

Run

Its the epitome of NO accoustic with a big ass ending. I truly think they only enjoy themselves once the singing is over and they all can concentrate on the long ending, each content to contribute--Hooky's bass, Barney mixing up guitar here and there, Steve keeping the beat and Gillian's heavenly keyboards.

My second choice would be Mr Disco, a very catchy tune.

Vanishing Point, one of their best songs ever, especially lyrically.

I would normally go for Vanishing Point, but I been listening to Round and Round a lot lately, and it's definitely growing on me.

The toughest of choices considering Technique is far and away my favorite album. For me the top song has to be:

Mr. Disco-I absolutely love the lyrics, and the synths/keyboards and the whispered finale all add up to one incredible song.

That being said, Loveless was initially my favorite, and Run was always in a knockdown, drag out fight to take the title away from whichever one held it for the moment. Vanishing Point's lyrics are impressive, but I like the instrumental versions (making out mix) musical arrangement a bit better so Vanishing Point is incredible but not quite at the extraordinary level of Mr. Disco, Run, and loveless.

1st: Vanishing Point - amazing tune, the melodies and lyrics blend so well on this one 2nd: Mr. Disco - really catchy, great synth stuff 3rd: Run - my favorite of the singles; agree with the posts about the great jam session at the end. They could stretch it out to 10 minutes and I'd still hang on every note

So I'm stunned to see Dream Attack in #1 by a wide margin. But that's what so great about New Order - so many great songs to identify with!

definitely Vanishing Point.

The Finale to Run is gorgeous, I definitely agree, I could listen to that for ten, or twenty minutes and I'd be just fine with that. As a teenager, and in my early twenties, I always used to put that finale in my walkman and listen as I drifted off to sleep, what a perfect, dreamy, amazing tune. I always associate it with evenings and with mornings along the Califorian Coastal Mountains/Hills that I grew up around.

Difficult one, because I like all but one (i.e. Fine Time). Had to go for Vanishing Point after a lot of soul searching.

All the Way got my vote, it's my fave new order song. That chorus is a work of genius... why wasn't it a single?!

Hello all - this is my first posting here (and probably one of many tonight, as I catch up with all these threads) :)

Technique is my Number Two fave rave NO album, so picking a winner here was definitely a tricky one to call.

Vanishing Point just about edges it for me, although Mr Disco, Run and All the Way weren't far behind.

Hard one. I like Fine Time a lot regardless of popular opinion--I think it's an amazing dance track and it was gutsy to release as a first single. I find it was tastefully done. However, on the other end is Dream Attack which chills my core. Vanishing point has amazing programming too. If I was back in '89 I'd probably pick Fine Time, so I'm going with that.

"Dream Attack" is probably my favorite New Order track ever. I think it shows the best qualities that make New Order unique, superb and the best band on this planet.

so hard...had to go with vanishing point.

V.tough choice...round and round was better as a single remix, best semiacoustic track was loveless, closely followed by guilty partner.

Agreed. I went with Fine Time too, if only cos I couldn't hope to choose between the likes of Dream Attack, Run, Round & Round or Mr Disco. Fine Time just stands out as something 'different' about the album. And Hooky's bass as the track closes is simply gorgeous.

i hated mr. disco for years. then i really listened to it. whoever posted about listening to it with headphones is right on - but use big closed headphones, not those ear bud things. the song's beats are panned everywhere! love that!

good lyrics to, how can you not like: i try but i can't find you... a very simple yet deep bernard sumner lyric.

Has been and will always be All the Way....knew it on the first listen all those years ago

Dream Attack - one of the loveliest things I've ever been lucky enough to hear. :)
