I won't do all albums today, don't worry... for those who worry about polls, it will eventualy avoid to have threads about "your favorite.." as we can refer to those poll-threads automatically to continue the discussion.
So, what's your best Electronic "Electronic" track?
I must admit, this is a tough one.. but I'll have to go with my first love, Getting Away With It...
My vote's for Patience of a Saint. I'm a big PSB fan, and this track works out well...
"Why should I care, I'd rather watch drying paint..."
Should Getting Away With It be included?
My vote's for Reality. It would be right at home on Technique. Johnny Marr has said that this is was the first track they worked on.
...very tough one...but my vote goes to "gangster". i remember Barney saying that he wanted to use it as a new order-track but it didn't really fit into NO'style...anyway, great lyrics! Also, the (extended) FBI-Mix on the Disppointed-single is great! 
I instinctivly voted for GetTheMessage, as its probably the most electronic type track electronic have ever done and its synomous (spelling?) with Electronic and all they stand for me..
If i thought about this question too much i'd be agonizing for ever and a day!! and of course they always say first impressions count! ;)
Besides the line dont do me any favours is spitted out with such throwaway venom its simply peerless :D
But then again Getting Away With It and Barney walking in the rain is too bloody good not to get a mention..

i had to pick 'get the message'. i have some great memories associated with it, so it has particular sentimental value for me, as well as just being a cracking song!
dunno what eponymous means. but getting away with it is one of my favourites, next to forbidden city.
'Getting Away With It' ( Al, this track is available on most non-UK releases...) is a very good intro to Electronic, a very positive first impression....then when the album came out, 'Patience of a saint' became my fav.
..but my vote for LONGEVITY goes to.... 'GET THE MESSAGE', a very cleverly structured songs and even all those remixes ( DNA, etc.. ) sound superb, even today...A TRUE CLASSIC......

That's why I voted for "Get The Message" as well. This song passed the time test, not sounding dated these days as the majority of the songs in this album.
I'm I know this might be cheating, but I just GOTTA vote for this b-side track to the album called "Free Will". This is my absolute favorite instrumental in music history! Ever! A true masterpiece. It encpompasses everything that defines a mixture of dance/pop/rock. Marr's guitar solo towards the end...simply marvelous! Free Will>>>>everything else!
But if you say "Hey Isamu! That's cheating! You MUST stick the "Electronic" album no exceptions!", then I'll have to pick Idiot Country. The absolute catchiest and infectious tune ever to come out that era. The chorus is just too damn catchy...

Surely it was only on the re-issue, and certainly wasn't on the original on the day it was released (May 28th 1991 if I'm not mistaken - an important date in the life of Jarvo for reasons other than New Order. The Tuesday after Bank Holiday Monday as I remember!).
Interestingly, Barney's favorite Electronic track didn't receive any votes in this poll so far.
Barney on "Feel Every Beat": I really like the beat and the raw feel. Electronic never wrote anything like it again. Q magazine, November 2001

I'm surprised.. I bought mine when it got out, and has GAWI on it (Canadian edition), so I'm a little surprised it's not on the UK release.
The order above is the order of my album.. and I've never seen the album without GAWI to be honest, it's listed as is on all discographies I've seen (note that they are all done by Americans 
)
Again, there are a lot of tracks I liked on this album, but I voted for "Some Distant Memory" as it still has some (personal) emotional impact on me....especially those last couple of measures, with the strings and the oboe playing...
I remember a prime time Radio 1 interview with Barney at the time when Get The Message was a hit - the DJ asked what the song was about and Barney replied something like 'its about birds that spend all yer money and give nothing in return.' - In a time of political correctness I found his directness and honesty inspiring.
PS - I bought the CD in 1991 and it's not got Getting Away With It on it, though when I play the CD on Windows Media Player its listed as track 5 (thought it cannot be played!) - I'm sure there's a reason for it..

Barney should've put "Gangster" on Republic , even though it's Electronic, sounds more New Order-ish than "Young Offender" or "Liar"

Looks like I'm the only vote for Soviet. Go Soviet! I've always been drawn to instrumental pieces, and this is a classic.

Soviets dead powerful and everytime i hear GTM it sounds 'wrong' unless its following Soviet!! I think i must have somewhat overplayed that album in the early 90's for that association to happen!!!
Feel Every Beat is classic (that piano at the end....) but it has to bow down to the might of Get The Message. One of those songs that everyone NO fan or not seems to love.
Funnily enough I was having a quick scour on the popbitch website today and this very question cropped up. One of the comments was "And if I drove a faster car I'd drive it bloody well" Fucking genius
And you know what, I tend to agree.
btw - There was a black-covered remastered copy and that had GAWI on it. And a very welcome addition it was too.
I think that's the version I have! Was the cover black and silver? To get back to the original question, I went for GAWI but it was a toss-up between that and GTM. I'll have to dig the album out some time and give it a spin.

Yup, that's the one! After reading this thread obviously had to listen to it last night. Great album, not a duff track on it.

Some Distant Menory is my favourite Electronic song ever. But I've missed the thread as well...that comes with being poor and only having limited acces to Internet (when the boss isn't looking).
Been going through an Electronic phase the past week ;) The debut album still sounds superb (I probably even rate it higher than the NO albums - every track is a classic). I have the original Factory release so no GAWI but still have the CD single around somewhere. Just re-discovered the b-side to Forbidden City called Imitation Of Live after a good few years and it really is an impressive track that should have made the album.

Well, BCE, give it a try... this is one hell of a rollercoaster! Mind you, I AM from 1966, so I'm an early NO-fan and very, very much in JD too, but "Electronic" is a classic, it's f**king true! Very hard to choose a favorite one, but hell... let's go for "Reality", a guitar driven rush of blood to my head every time I hear it. Superb.
