That sounds amazing, especially track 8...

is this a limited thing, or what?

According to the other site, yup - limited to the first 3,000 releases.

Sounds wonderful - Elegia long version finally on CD, Perfect Kiss long live video version, etc - great stuff!

l8rs,

Nick ;)

how can you tell if you are ordering one of the first "3000"?
is this the UK release only?
how many copies will be initially made? what is Temptation 98... a remix? by whom?

so many questions.....?

well, The Video Perfect Kiss sounds hella cool. and the whole Elegia finally... other than that a rather mixed bag to throw out as treat to get people wanting to buy it... (a good idea actually to drive up some interest in what has been a rather lame and indecisive prelude... )

the bad thing about it is that is the "eBay.com" effect, whenever you have a "limited edition", people think about making a profit.

"According to the other site, yup - limited to the first 3,000 releases"

I guess that means there will be enough for everybody :)

GOOD NEWS ABOUT THIS RETRO RELEASE??!! :D This makes my heart/soul happy, hope I can get the limited edition...

Sorry about my hyperactivity, blame those damn Frappachinos from Starbucks, folks.

Temptation 98 is the version the band recorded in the studio around the same time they recorded the Peel Sessions 98 (Isolation, Touched By The Hand of God, Paradise, etc.).

They used that version only for their live performance celebrating the Manchester 2002 Commonwealth Games (there was a show organized at the time in which New Order participated and in which they PRETENDED to play -- they actually MIMED on this, which is a bit sad).

As far as I'm concerned, it's my favorite version of Temptation because it has more "drive" than the others. Unfortunately, it's more like a "single edit", so it misses a few lyrics. But with a little better production (like less reverberation), that could have had some success has a single on radio, and I wish remixes would have been made out of it.

As for the bonus CD, this is excellent news.

Temptation 98 is what you can see on 3 16...

Wow, when you think they are fooling us, finally something worth getting.

3000 copies is LESS than Run 2..

Now I just hope I will be able to get one.. if anyone knows where we can pre-order it and be SURE it will be the limited edition (only available in the UK), otherwise I'd buy the Canadian release...!!

I will check with my contacts :D

Just secure all 3000 for all of us NOOL'ers :thumb:

..and sell any remaining ones on EBay :evil4:

Funny, I'm checking the list right now, it seems like they checked this forum to make the tracklisting... or was it so obvious what fans were looking for ?!?

Let's analyse this a little...

Temptation 98 - You can grab it from the 3 16 DVD if you want.

Transmission (Live) - It's on 5 12, but not there.. I'm quite sure this can be found by bootleggers, I might even have it since I have some tracks from the BDO shows.

Such A Good Thing - many bought a damn useless CD single to have this.

Best & Marsh - Well, you have it if you have the R&R CD5

Let's Go - You have it if you have the Salvation soundtrack

True Faith (Pink Noise Edit) - Freely available for the people who bought Q Magazine when it was on their CD.. but still, this is a first official release for that one, but why the edit?

Run Wild (Pre-Promo Mix) - That's nice.. believe me, I prefer that version.

The Perfect Kiss (Live from Video) - Well, you can rip this easily.

Elegia (Full Version) -- Hehe, I'll have to take this out NewOrderOnline.com -- this has been our exclusivity since 2 years now, so it will not be something unknown for NOOLers..

Overall, it's a nice candy for everyone whining about the compilation, it's free, and RARE.. 3000 is seriously a very limited amount for such a thing.. you will OBVIOUSLY see the bootleg industry on EBay quite soon over this.

Personally, I will shop the UK edition for that release.. there is nothing new for me on this CD, nothing I don't have, but it will be nice to have them from an original source, cleaned, and everything. This is worth paying the extra shipping..

Well, that's the point I guess with this bonus CD, to make the whining fans shut the hell up.. I know I will...!! if I can get one!

Retro would cost £26.90 shipped to my house from Amazon.co.uk

Not bad, I'm pretty sure I paid much more for Heart & Soul from the US..

BTW, if M. Jonathan Scott reads this, since I'm quite sure you are the source of this information, any leak about if there is a booklet with the boxset? à la Heart & Soul ?

I thought this was HMV's baby and they were paying for the additional disk anyways?

Guess we'll have to wait for the final world till the 1645 from Glasgee rolls into town?

JS, you were right about SAGT then?! What utter b8ll8cks!

Sounds reasonable, in the past HMV have given away other goodies, like the Get Ready booklet and a video with the Palatine box.

This tracklist is amazing !!!

Isn't there a possibility to get around 500 of this limited retro for the NOOLiner's from London Records ??? I mean...we decided the tracklist... :evil4:

I can't currently find any online records stores stocking this version yet. Surely HMV will have to have another entry on there stating it's the 'Limited Edition' version or something. Anyone know of anywhere online or "real-life" that's going to stock this version?

Get Ready booklet? :eek3:

Yes! In Germany HMV released "Get Ready" with a small booklet, which featured a small history of the band along with the new promopictures and a discography.

Hmm interesting, where does this 'HMV' connection come from or is this just an assumption due to past offers they have done..?

Remember Tower Recs gave away free G'Ready T-shirts, and posters with that Republic videodisc and CD so its not just HMV that give away goodies as release promotion...

HMV are supposedly paying for the bonus disk themselves. JS knows more.. .

If i go to HMV.co.uk and pre-order my copy of Retro now, what are my chances of getting this free bonus disc when retro (finally) comes out?

Well, i just ordered it... that'll be no food for a week when that comes out... but at least i'll be hungry and listening to the 16 minute version of elegia (hopefully)

What are the chances of us plebs downunder gettin a bonus disc? Much the same as England regaining the Ashes I guess :alien:

I just tried talking to someone at HMV regarding this limited lovely, but they weren't able to shed any light on this.

Anyone have a definitive on pre-ordering the ltd package?

I told you that there would be something of a result if you showed a little patience.

As Al J. & Candy the Bear will testify, I knew about this but couldn't really say anything - I all but told the forum over the last couple of days anyway.

Other than "Such a Good Thing" - which Barney insisted on including on this, I thought it wasn't that bad a collection at all.

By way of an explanation;

Andy Robinson called me here at work a couple of weeks ago asking what I thought might put a smile on some of your moaning faces. I passd on many of your comments and hey presto - your "rarities" disc appears courtesy of HMV.

I'm not a total cunt all the time y'know?

So if I order from MHV I shall get the Bonus disc? Sorry to bother you but where I live it's not easy to walk into the HMV?

not here, hmv and virgin know nothing about it, amazon sent me an incomprehensible reply that seemed to suggest they didn't understand the question.

Considering that many of the disgruntled fans are abroad, I'll see what I can do about getting a number of these additional discs just for the forum members - being that it's nearly Christmas and all that...Bah Humbug!

www.amazon.com has retro for a December 17th release, While www.amazon.co.uk has retro for a December 9th release. How can a person in the states secure the bonus CD?

Maybe this "limited" edition is on the same vein as some other "limited" releases... take the "LOTR:TFOTR special edition- Collector's edition" (the longest DVD title in history?): I've seen LOADS of them on my local FNAC (I won't buy the fucker, of course! Who needs an Argonath bookend? Please!) so what's "limited" about it?

I never thought I'd say this, but thank you Jonathan

What everyone wishes to know is, this disc is separated from the boxset completely? so this mean, if you have some copies for us, I can buy the Canadian edition ;)

I like HMV, but ordering it from the UK only for the bonus disc is a pain.. unless HMV Canada can import it for me...

And what everyone wants to know is, it's HMV only? so any pre-order from HMV should get one?

I guess you don't know that one!

This tends to suggest that behind the stony silent exterior the band has a modicum of interest in the NooL'ers views on such matters?

Can you confirm this JS ??

I'll tell you exacty what happened so you know what I know.

Miles (DVD director) called a couple of weeks ago and asked if he could give Andy Robinson my office number. He said Andy wanted to talk to me about something. Obviously I said yes and about 15 minutes later, Andy called and started talking about this extra disc. He talked for about 90 minutes about all manner of stuff and asked what I thought would make up for the shortcomings on the "Retro" release. Shortcomings as far as you lot were concerned that is. I mentioned various tracks and he agreed with some but not with all - no demos - remember now? I did ask...I should also point out that it wasn't only reaction on this forum that prompted Andy to get in touch.

As far as I know, it's only HMV in the UK. Not sure how that effects foreign orders. I can only ask for extra copies for the fans here - I cannot promise anything. I am hopeful however...

Anyway, there you have it - there is a bit more I can't say yet but that I hope comes to fruition.

Yours,

Jonathan S.

Yeah I know it's not only this forum Jonathan, but it was the first thing I said when I saw the tracklisting :)

Any help would indeed be good, because 3000 copies is a very limited amount for New Order fans..

And of course, you know about what malicious people will try to do on EBay...! I can see EIL.com from a thousand miles coming up with this on their site for a very high price!

That wasn't directed at you Nic - any conversation I had with the bands manager related ONLY to views expressed on this forum.

I asked for the original accoustic demo of "60 MPH" & the rehearsal session for "Hurt" but was told that it just wouldn't happen but I agreed that you'd all like the rambling version of "Elegia" etc.

Of course, we are offering NewOrderOnline's structure to put up a competition or a draw or a giveaway for this bonus disc if you, Jonathan, can manage to get some for the members of this site, and especially those who are regulars here!

That would be a nice gift for everyone indeed! :)

First of all, thank you for making this happen and second, what is the acoustic demo of 60MPH? Is that the Dave Kahne mix or the version on the premix promo?

Well, as long as us die-hard fans can all get our hands on a copy, this is a bit of a result. Well done. To keep all of us completeists happy, it would have needed about another four or five limited edition discs, but the stuff that's on there is certainly sought after, that's for sure.

Any news on if we'll get copies with the free disc if we've already pre-ordered from HMV?

Andy.

I cannot claim anything other than a little involvement in this - but I was asked and that's really nice I have to say...

As for the "60 MPH" demo question;

Neither - it was the first demo recorded at David Potts house and indeed Pottsy plays keyboards on the track. There is even a "1,2,1,2,3,4" count at the start.

I've got it on CD already anyway, but can I ask why it's an "excerpt" from 'Let's Go' on this bonus disc?

Andy.

Indeed, excellent work there young Johnathan. E-mailed HMV.co.uk before about getting hold of the bonus disc, no reply yet though. Somehow I have a slight fear that they'll say "sod off, you're already getting a 4-disc box set for £16.99, you'll get the bonus disc if you order it for £35.99". Then I may start crying, what with me being a poor first-year student and all. Then, when I pull myself together, I might start going a bit mental :violent2:

but surely, if it's HMV's first 3000 sets...and since we were the first to order...am I being overly optimistic???

hopefully not...I did book me summer trip to London before the official announcement of Finsbury...could I get lucky twice in one year?

I have been a good boy...soooooooooooo!!!!

Well, I'm happy since if I get that bonus CD, I won't have to buy WIM2002 to get all New Order tracks.. ;)

But well, uh, I don't have them anyway..

There is still many things missing.. other True Faith 2002 remixes, that Area:One LA show, which had a promo, the original mix of Crystal (remember that mp3 everyone got waaaaaaaay before the release?) many other pre-promo (first mixes) of Get Ready...

We can find a lot of these.. but there isn't any that beats Elegia.. now I just hope they will do a mastering of any kind on that one ;)

That was just a faded in-and-out excerpt from the original 7:08 version which you can get hold of on the 'Here To Stay' UK 12". I think it's on there by mistake, as the running time on the sleeve is the album version, but it definitely is longer - the one on the 'Get Ready' rough mixes bootleg.

The recording of "Elegia" which is due to appear on this disc was referred to as the "20 minute version" by Andy and will come from the master recording - I have no idea what re-mastering it may or may not require. What I do know is that New Order do not have an endless well of cash to draw upon when it comes to re-recording or mastering or indeed any "post" work. It all adds up and it's cash that could be better spent elsewhere. I had hoped that the original recordings of "Ode to Joy" would be in there too - Andy & I agreed it would be perfectly apt for a Christmas release but it's a recording many of you already own - no matter how shit it is quality wise.

The Area One shows were mentioned as Andy liked the idea of a live JD track being used. I know there has been alot of cross talk about the "promos" that appeared via REPRISE - not all of it good. It was a leak at that end that caused alot of problems and indeed, it was that leak that saw me wrongly blamed for the "release" of the original monitor mixes of "Crystal" & "60 MPH". Andy was NOT happy about that at all.

Apparently, any cunt with even the remotest interest in New Order could get a hold of these tracks over in L.A. If you recall, I mentioned them on or around the 6th January - many months before their intended release - and it's true that I received them from the United States.

Maybe now some of you will see why I was so vocal about what we should or rather souldn't be talking about so openly within the forum - it is viewed/read by all and sundry and not always with the most favourable outcome - except this time of course!

Andy was quite dismayed at the thought that many of you think they don't give a fuck - they do, but they are a business as well as our favourite band and they have to operate as one in order that we get the best return from them in future.

As for helping our foreign friends (ex UK that is) get a hold of the "bonus" CD - I cannot promise anything and as such any extras I get will go to non-UK fans only and this would have to be done privately - no "official" site tie in I'm afraid. Once again, NO PROMISES - I will do my best. It would be a shame if the disc didn't go straight to those it was specifically intended for but the main reason I want to "help" on this occassion is to stop the Esprit & Ebay vultures cashing in...which they will anyway.

Obviously now I'm worried about my pre-order on HMV's website (yes, for that lovely cheap price!!!!), as in, will HMV be providing me with the limited edition version with this bonus disk, or will I just get a bog-standard release? Is this thing limited to the stores themselves, or is it applying for ordering over the net at HMV.co.uk? So many questions, I'll be pissed if I don't get the bonus disk in the post with the box set.

Regarding the critisicm of New Order, I think its pretty much spot on, lets not forget that this box-set is a way of saying sorry for the RECYCLE cock up of a few years back. As a die hard fan I feel not only have N.O. totally sold out (London Records suck, admit it), but now they are releasing poor quality stuff that us fans already have in our collection anyway.

I hope I'm wrong, I'm actually fucking gutted that New order aren't the kick ass Manchester band that I loved, and as a fellow Manc it pains me to say it.

How abouts getting Barney and Hooky on this website to answer our questions/issues about releases?

I'm also pissed that as a born and bred Manc, we who live in this city, and are die hard fans of N.O. get no special treatment of any kind regarding releases, and I thought Hooky was "fuckin' proud to live 'ere", bastard!

Bring back the hacienda, Factory records, and Ian, I know he's alive, I've been in his bar in Spain.

must say, with this extra disc i'm really looking forward to the box set now. just a shame it couldn't be fitted in the box as a "rare" disc to go with "live", "pop", "fan" etc.hope everyone here manages to track down their copy. i'm assuming it'll be a separate cd stored behind the counter in hmv to give away to buyers, rather than part of the set. i know a chap who works in hmv so i'll see what i can find out...

Jonathan, you got us wrong.. it's the LABEL that don't care about us, not the band.

The label wants to make money by releasing something that will sell.. all hardcore fans owns mostly everything, so why everybody was whining.

But now the band is showing some care over the label, and that CD is paid by.. HMV!

I don't really know what the financial set-up is with HMV and the "bonus" disc but I do know that some of the tracks I suggested for inclusion on the CD were out of the question due to legal constraints; I said that the "Celebration" version of "Dreams Never End" or clean versions of the latest PEEL recordings (including "Transmission") would be brilliant extras but the recordings belong to GRANADA TV/BBC and NOT the band and as such would have incurred third party costs. This would have caused a problem...blah, blah, blah...the point I'm making is that the band truly wanted to give "us" something more and they've made a genuine effort to do this - I SUSPECT that HMV stumped up the cash for the CD as it's in their best interests to have done so but I'm really not too sure how that sort of deal works.

There has to be some way to get "the happy one" on there without anyone noticing! :D

Jonathon, thanks for making us all drool with anticipation. But, alas, I am but a 20 New Order fan from across the big lake in little ole USA. I can hope for a CD, but I won't get my hopes too high. You are my only hope for it. There is no way I will walk into a store in Michigan and find the extra disk version. I am not going to spend $60 US to order from HMV at the outside chance that maybe I will get it. I will pick up my box set from the local record store and sell you my firstborn child for the bonus CD.

That just reminded me that the promo of 60 MPH, with the David Kahne Mix, was available for sale in a used CDs store on the net which was based in L.A. -- we contacted them and they had just sold it, but they suggested to put the thing on tape and send it to Nicolas -- which they did, free of charge!

Wow.

Don`t forget us downunder in Aust and NZ.

By the way if anyone downunder needs a copy of the French International Ltd ed, let me know I have a few to trade or share cost of importing, about AU$50ea. that totally rocks about the bonus disc, 4:45. i haven't really posted here in a while but that disc has certainly piqued my interest. glad to know that the band and their management do care about what we think. i was quite disappointed with the box set's list and wasn't sure how well it would sell. seems a little expensive for someone just getting into NO and, as has been repeated extensively here, most people that dedicated to our fav band have most of the stuff on them. i guess it was just a hard call all around.

cheers,

iain

That would be so fantastic, i can't even put it in words !!! i already pre-ordered a copy of "Retro" from Amazon germany and it's labelled as an UK-import, but i really doubt that this is going to be a limited one...if there's any possibility to get any limited edition copies for the NOOLiner's from outside the UK i would appreciate this !!!

Eil.com have there 'retro' stock listed as limited edition 57 tracks at £29.99. Haven't counted if that's the difference between the bonus c.d. and the regular release. The promo they're trying to off-load for £75.00 has 51 tracks.

hmmm, just checked and there's 9 tracjs on the bonus disc  Does the promo just have less stuff than the regular release?

A question for you Hank, Ive often been tempted to buy promo CDs acetates, how long do these acetates last? Remain playable? Are they a waste of money?

I'm sure 4:45 has mentioned many times there's no such thing as a cdr acetate. I've only ever bought promos on vinyl. Vinyl acetate deteriorates very rapidly and is probably only good for a dozen or so plays if that.

Jonathan - thanks for this heart-warming news regarding non-UK fans - very intrigued... played telephone tag with HMV UK all yesterday afternoon to ensure the limited one could be ensnared and had no joy - reminds me of the search for Substance ltd double cassette box - was it really only available at Woolies or is that a distortion of the truth?!

looking forward to further news with baited breath. Many thanks.

So an acetate CD is only term to describe a promo cd, and they have longevity?

In general, I'm always wary of anything with "CD-R" in the title, be it acetate or promo. I mean, any idiot can record something on to CD-R, knock up a genuine looking label and sell it at an inflated price.

NB Any resemblance between that statement and eil.com is purely coincidental.

I feel I must join the masses and congratulate JS on his efforts - many many thanks.

Love the NME tracklisting ("Let's G" was from the 'Salvador' soundtrack, eh?)!! BTW, finally got hold of a second hand VHS copy of this the other day - crap film, great music is all I can say there - some of the songs sound different from the soundtrack, but I could be wrong...

Oh, and btw, Esprit's tracklisting for the promo misses off the last 5 live tracks off it's tracklisting, but it is on the promo for those completely insane people like myself who must own everything...

l8rs,

Nick ;)

The german online-magazine www.intro.de also reports (in their latest newsletter) that there is going to be limited bonus-CD "Retro". BUT...I don't know if this is an official confirmation for germany or just a "copy & paste"-job from NOOL or worldinmotion.net or even the NME...

i spoke to a clerk at hmv-atlanta. they have no listing for the retro ltd edition, either domestic or import. he suggested calling an hmv uk store directly and ordering over the phone. the numbers for the stores can be found with the store locations on the hmv uk web site. i think i will wait and see a couple days before i pay international long distance. this might work.

I asked in the local (UK) HMV in person, and they only had the 'normal' retro listed on their computer, they didn't seem to know anything about the ltd edition.

David Sultan has just written in WIM that the bonus CD will be bundled together with the first 3000 CD's with no HMV tie in.

All together now:

Confusion, Confusion, Confusion

You cause me confusion, you told me you care It's calling the changes they'll last till the end Ask me no questions, I'll tell you no lies The past is the present, the CD is mine

CDR acetates;

These items are no more than cheap promos that scratch easily and in no way merit the vast sums charged over at EIL or Ebay - avoid.

"Vinyl" acetates;

These are aluminium discs coated with a thin layer of "acetate" or wax and carry the test pressing of a.n.other track for test-listening purposes. They last all of 2 plays accurately.

These are very rare as they cost a fortune to produce - usually only 1 or 2 would be pressed.

Shaun Carruthers = cock!

Latest on the "RETRO" bonus CD is that it IS an HMV tie in that SHOULD extend to all territories. Furthermore, despite the fact that the packaging was not designed for 5 discs, it will be included within the "RETRO" box....turgid...turgid...turgid...

H.M.V. = "His Masters Voice". The most famous record label in the world I reckon with the most recognisable centre labels of any record company - the one with the dog listening to the old 78 rpm "gramophone"...

Unfortunately HMV only has stores in 4 different states in the US (Georgia, NY, Mass. and Ohio). So if the limited edition 5th CD makes it to the US through HMV they won't be widely available to most of us.

Hi fellow NOOLers:

I e-mailed HMV.ca about the Ltd Ed of Retro and received the following reply:

"Thank you for your message. The New Order "Retro/4 CD set" that is in your order is the only "Retro" CD that HMV.com is offering; we are unaware of any 'limited edition' printed sets. Nevertheless your item has 57 songs which include rarities, B-sides and live tracks."

I hope they have it or else I'll be mighty :\pissedoff:

No - HMV is a subsidiary of Thorn/EMI. The record label came first and the 'logo' was so widely identified with music, that the company adopted it (and the name) for the music chain.

there is one of those blue plaques for the dog in the hmv label in park avenue in bristol showing where he used to live - ridiculous - its a dog!

HMV do a lot of exclusives, the dvd for 24 had one for instance, usually these are advertised in advance so hopefully the adverts will appear shortly...

Explanation from the RCA website:

Nipper and Chipper In the late 1800's, a virtually unknown artist named Francis Barraud of London saw his little dog, Nipper, sitting attentively in front of the talking machine. Barraud was so impressed that he decided to put it on canvas. Nipper, the alert Fox Terrier with an ear cocked to an antique phonograph, became the best known dog in the world. The painting, called "His Master's Voice", became the trademark of the Victor Talking Machine Company in 1901. RCA purchased the Victor Company of Camden, New Jersey, in 1929, and the purchase included the Talking Machine manufacturing plant and the Victor dog trademark. Nipper has been used in RCA advertising materials since 1929. Chipper, a Jack Russell terrier, was added to the family in 1991.

I found a pretty decent page to get the full story..

http://www.danbbs.dk/~erikoest/nipper.htm

From another site:

Though only used by EMI today as the marketing identity for HMV Shops in the UK and Europe, the 'His Master's Voice' trademark is still instantly recognised and sits proudly and firmly in the Top 10 of 'Famous Brands of the 20th Century'.

The bonus disc is great... but... I was really looking forward to the 7" Ceremony and Temptation versions. Also, MTO would have been nice. I do own MP3's of all these already, but I just seems like they could have pulled it off and finally put them on CD for the first time.

Can anyone confirmed that the preorders from HMV.UK are getting the bonus disc? I ordered mine at the 16.99 price. If not, I'm offically changing my name to the Grinch this X-mas.

The webmaster blokey (David Sultan) from WIM site had this to say on his forum:

"London Records confirm that they will be giving away the bonus disc for a limited period of time in all stores that are stocking the box set - it is not exclusive for HMV at all. The Bonus Disc will be packing it in with the booklet inside the box set - not separately."

So then it is London Records' word against the band's management. Who the hell do we trust?!!?? I'd have to go with der management based on London Records' past history.

Not really new, been reading the board for a while, but never really posted and had to re-register. i guess that serves me right...yeah, ok, enough of that... HMV in the UK, lists retro as 4 CD's for £27.99, however, scroll down and the limited CD is track-listed and then down at the bottom of the page is this, "Available for a limited time only with 9-track bonus disc." with a scheduled release date of 2/12/02.

i guess i better put in my order....

From HMV.co.uk -

  2. Transmission (Live At the Big Day Out, 2002)

  3. Such A Good Thing

  4. Theme From Best & Marsh

  5. Let's Go (From 'Salvation' soundtrack)

  8. The Perfect Kiss (Live Take From A Video Shoot)

  9. Elegia (Full Version)

Available for a limited time only with 9-track bonus disc

SO does this mean that my pre-order (at the price of £16.99) will definately have this disk?

Also, are HMV.co.uk pre-orders distributed before the allocation to the high street shops themselves? What I mean is, as I have pre-ordered, am I guarenteed the first pick so to speak?

thanks

Matt.

I'd imagine almost definately not Matt. Odd though you never mentioned before your pre-order was at £16.99!!! I suppose it makes up for it being a 4 disk set though!!

In all seriousness though I suspect there's just no way you'll know. I suggest waiting for it to arrive through the post and if it's only got 4 CDs run off and look in every shop for a 5 disk set and give the 4 disk one to someone for Christmas. Or maybe HMV will take it back as part of some 'if you are not 100% satisfied deal'.

I love (I mean loathe) how everyone keeps asking the same question "Is the version that I pre-order from ___ going to have the bonus disk?" Let me answer this REALLY repetative question once and for all... why the heck are you asking us? How the hell would we know? The websites you are ordering from don't even know. When your package arrives in the mail, you will know... until then, please stop asking questions that no one here can accurately answer. It gets annoying after a while, I think I would rather have all the threads go back to complaining about Retro than to see that question a bazillion more times over the next couple of months. You pay your money and you take your chances.

Jonathan.. you mentionned there isn't any Peel Sessions tracks due to the rights belonging to BBC and everything (the point is not on who belongs the rights)

But then, there is 2 tracks from the Glastonbury 87 on Retro, which was released 3 times by BBC.. they managed to get the rights for those, but not for the Peel Sessions?

I can now tell all of you, with the utmost certainty, that none of you will find a 5th disc in any of your packages...

last night, while sitting around drinking continental lagers with a few people, who shall remain nameless for a moment, I came up with a cunning plan!!!

Myself, Jack Dangers, Mark Griffin and another man, who insisted on calling himself Buck Satan (but he bore an uncanny resemblance to Alain Jourgensen) set out from Meat Beat HQ, berwick street, soho, and proceeded to HMV HQ...our plan was evil, so to say, but we managed to knick all 3000 of these so called "bonus" discs!!!

we then proceeded to take them to the Scottish highlands, where we hid them in terra cotta pots, in a rather isolated location (and no, this does not mean Muffy's vegetable garden, so Mickler, keep away from Muff man's abode)...

we then surrounded them with rabid wolverines...and have devised a plot to make these discs available only to the faithful here at NOOL....don't ask for details yet...but just remember, when the time comes...you will be happy...

that is all...
