I was just listening to the New Order mix of Regret.

Some people were telling New Order should produce themselves in the next album..

Do you think this mix would be the album mix of Regret if New Order would have produced themselves on Republic? If the answer is yes, probably it was a good thing Stephen Hague was around, because the album version of Regret is seriously good..

There is also another proof when you take the Bernard Sumner mix of Run Wild (featured on Get Ready) and Steve Osbourne's version you'll have on Retro's bonus disc..

Sure they can do it, but sometimes, some people have the edge that can make a song a classic...

I think it would be nice producing themselves again. you see, I look at them nowadays at the country (steve´s home) and they seem so pleased with all that. they started to enjoy the time with each other. so it would be a perfect moment for them to do it. it´s a perfect situation, don´t you think?

by the way, nick. check your mailbox. I sent you a mail completely out of topic. I need your help :D

i don't think they are capable of producing themselves anymore... with the egos and Barney's "odd" decisions or desire to become another Pet Shop Boy. Hooky did some interesting stuff with Monaco but i doubt that Barney would let him have that much control.

personally, i think that a new records emphasis should be about New Order being an indie band, all the band members together, which has always been their strength, instead of trying to have outside help or having a super-polished "pop" sound, or trying to complete with the very very very very much played out British progressive house and trance scene. i think that keeping it simple should bring out the best in the band, coming around full circle. they need somebody they respect to produce who will stay in the background.
