love will tear us apart. i'm not a huge fan of atmosphere...mainly cuz of the vocals. low and droney...
...but you know, ian's voice can be an acquired taste.
This is like saying "would you prefer beheading or the electric chair?". I'm afraid I've played these songs too many times over the last 22 years, and my opinions are a reflection of this. Sure, they are incredible songs, but neither has lasted my personal test of time as well as say Decades, Dead Souls or New Dawn Fades. Voted for LWTUA anyway.

Went for LWTUA, just cos Atmosphere usually gets all the accolades elsewhere. It was voted no.1 in the Peel's Millenium 50 a couple of years back, with LWTUA no.3 so both are recognised by the discerning public as absolute classics.
Bloody hell this ones tough!
Such completely different songs (tempo wise anyway) that comparing them is almost impossible.
Tipped to LWTUA simply because although i think Atmosphere is a hell of a lot more emotive, Barneys whoops have lost it that edge that Curtis gave it.
I think Barney sings LWTUA better as well :)

Tough choice, I'm going with LWTUA though. This song was the epitome of their career, in my opinion.

Personally i dont think either are the best songs, infact i dont actually like 'Atmosphere' its well over-rated in my book and reminds me of funerals. Fuck knows how it was voted no1 in front of 'New Dawn Fades'(pure genius) but thats the way the cookie crumbles...hmmmm.

inaccurate?? these are the two songs most voted for by NOOLers as we narrowed them down. you may not agree with the choices, but that's the nature of the beast when you exist in a participatory society, man.

Seriously, I can't believe that LWTUA is winning. I mean I am so completely confused by this poll. Are there real JD fans voting on this, or people who listened to like one song 10 years ago and LWTUA was the only song they ever heard by them... because they thought Deal Souls was written by Trent Reznor. Come on, wake up, listen up, and stop voting for wrong song. LWTUA will NEVER be song Atmosphere is.

I voted for LWTUA, because there was only that song and "Atmosphere" (a song which i dearly love) but my favorite song is "Dead Souls".

dude, it's just a really, really good song. they both are, but it's just down to personal preference on these final two....

"Atmosphere" is such a drag, it just goes on and on. And I'm rather sick of LWTUA, to tell you the truth. I like it, but it's not better than New Dawn Fades, or even Transmission. But of the two...
