Any relationship is valid...record company, members, birthplace of the manager, etc.
Obviously NO and JD are not included...I will say The Smiths and Happy Mondays.

There could only be one answer for me ...the Manchester band that got me into Manchester in the first place, Magazine :D. There are a couple of connections: -the founder, Howard Devoto, also founded the Buzzcocks with Pete Shelley -he set up the gig at the beginning of 24 Hour Party People where Tony Wilson says "There's four lads over there who will become Joy Division"
I will never forget the first time I put "Real Life" on the CD player. A life-changing experience.
Next on the list would be The Smiths, Buzzcocks ...and some others I can't think of right now.
Stone Roses,Happy Mondays & James. Also quite liked The Railway Children. "Brighter" was a great song.
Buzzcocks. They kicked off the whole thing, there wasn't really a "Manchester" scene before them.
Not all directly from Mancland and in no particular order.
Charlatans James Inspirals 808 Roses Northside Doves Mondays Smiths ACR
Favourite band outwith JD and NO that are still going would be The Charlies, just pipping The Doves.
Favourite not with us anymore would have to be The Mondays. Loadsa happy memories from their gigs, including 1 night spent kipping in Leeds Rail station with John and a couple of his pals

Makes Barney's lyrics seem, well, kind of like Dicken's.
The Mondays and ACR.
Oh, and I've seen 808 State a billion times, but they're a bit old hat now, aren't they? (Er, as are the other two, I s'pose).
In no particular order,
Easterhouse, The Fall, Buzzcocks, Quando Quango, Smiths, ACR, Happy Mondays (85 to 90), Charlatans, Railway Children (if you include Wigan, but they did have one album and 2 singles on Factory) and The Stone Roses.
OMD WERE NOT FROM MANCHESTER THEY WERE FROM LIVERPOOL. AND THE BEST MANCHESTER BAND IS...............................

Easterhouse and The Railway Children! Great bands, sadly missed (yes I know that The Children are still around but these Internet-based bands just don't cut it for me...)

Posh Wirralites, to be more precise.
The Fall and Doves are my pick after New Order.
Does anyone here remember a Manchester band called New Fast Automatic Daffodills?
The Chameleons The Smiths Stone Roses The Charlatans James Magazine Buzzcocks Oasis (94-95) New Fads, yeah, they were good. 'Fishes eyes', 'Big' were great.
Any of you has the Inspiral Carpets records? Is their singles collection still available in the UK? Here in Spain is really diffiult to find any record of them.
