Do you realize Republic will be 10 years old this year :eek2:

So Regret is soon to be 10 years old.

How does it feel?

And I tought I was listening to an old song when I was listening to BLT in 1993...

1993 was the year in which I started to become more self-aware of things, and just about on the cusp of puberty. Had I been a couple of years older, I would've discovered Regret, then delved into the back catologue.

Instead, N0 went away until 1998, and I didn't get fully involved until late 2001. Soooo many wasted years

Really sad...Regret is a tremendous hit, and it hasn't been equaled by NO in TEN YEARS

I'd sorta fallen out with New Order (four years was too long in between albums) and discovered Orbital, and rekindled my passion for The Fall-ah (who were very prolific in between 89 and 93 due to their signing a major deal with Parlophone :nerd: ).

When Regret came out, I was overjoyed. When Republic came out, I was disgusted... where were the mean Hooky basslines ? Over-produced dross, IMHO, although there are a couple of sparkling moments on there.

And to think that we had to wait eight years for the next real New Order album !!

Incidentally, my over-riding memory of Regret is (and this will only apply to people in the Central TV region of the UK) Sunday afternoon live Nationwide First Division football, with commentary from Alan Parry and either Greavesie or Ian St John : Regret was the theme tune to the ITV programme. Anyone else remember that at all (my team, Nottingham Forest, were relegated in 1993...)
