reading tilting at windmills by andy miller (about a bloke who doesnt like sport but wants to compete at the highest level so takes up minigolf!)

in it the order are mentioned - a quote

"i've never bought the theory about the specai lrelationship between football & pop music; it's only ever pointed out by people who like football. football records are rotten, aesthetically & spiritually. even "world in motion", the single new order made with the england aquad in 1990, is rotten. it was a collaboration in the vichy france sense of the word. here were the former members of joy division cheerfully doing their ibt for the war effort - love will tear us apart, but football and england will bring us together. and you 'd be hard pressed to find a starker contrast with the polymorphous perversity of punk than the sight of peter hook pissing it up with gazza."

goes on for a bit longer about other groups then adds

"of course world in motion was quite a good record, but who cares about that? in retrospect, we can see that new order invented the nineties. the fucking fucking bastards."
