anyone any thoughts about the best manc bands. I do reckon New Order are there at the top but they are closely followed by others. I dont know if its because im from Salford (my mam used to get the bus with Barny when he worked at the Town Hall records dept) or its because the music that has come out of mancheter is that good. Either way I am glad. As I say New Order are the tops but in my mind they are closely followed by the Smiths. The Stone Roses then the Mondays. There are other bands though who I couldnt rank. Doves (Pounding is one of the best songs of the modern day) Northside (Take a trip reminds me of my school days. Happier times)to be honest I could go on. What are your thoughts. Also, I was at Move last year. The line up this years doesnt even bear to lace last years bands laces (Inspirals not included) did anyone else hear Barney say that they would be going in the studio to write an album. If so, does anyone have a rough date of when this is.

there are threads about the recording of the new album but you will get a more up to date response on the radio 2 documentary i would've thought as that is looking at the bands past, present & future...
