Oh wow! This is news to me...... I kind of feel some excitement welling up here...just the prospect of hearing Gillian singing / trilling again after a 12 year absence.....that's TWICE THE LENGTH OF TIME that elapsed between the Other Two's first and second albums!!!!!

Ah, the first bit of decent news on this site for years... :)
I shall (obviously) be pre-ordering both the 12" and CD single... :)

Fantastic, I'll be buying it
as soon as they put up a pre-order link.
Let's hope it's not being sold exclusively as a limited edition for £350 with a signed piece of the Hac bogs (joke).
Seriously though, looking forward to some new music.
Roll up Roll up get a copy here:
http://www.recordstore.co.uk/productdetail.jsp?productPK=unittest-z12D6flXWE7iqqVZpN3IEb-1
seems there are some signed copies....
Well, I like it - it's beating the other side-project outputs at the moment...
First track - mellow (in the same vein as New Order's "Soundtrack" CD), with the second one more upbeat.
Pre-ordered the package, obviously... :)

Eh? "Destroyed" is one of his best and least commercial albums. Top musician.
As for the new Other Two offerings I like them. They're clearly not designed to be 'pop songs' and are a bit alternative dance sounding. A breath of fresh air with not a guitar (or bass) in hearing range.
Looking forward to hearing the rest of the tracks on the 12"+CD which I've just ordered.

Moby is far from dull, his last two albums have been fantastic. Fully agree 'Top musician' ![]()
The 'Swing' music is taken from a Peter Saville exhibition which was on earlier this year. More info HERE The record was available to buy from the exhibition, so it's been out a while .HERE
Looking forward to the Factory Floor mixes as well, impressed by the few EP's I've heard by them up to now, good live as well
Well.....any OT is better than NO OT at all, if you get my drift!

Expected better though - Superhighways the album is such a tough act to beat.

I've just had an Email saying this has been delayed due to a manufacturing problem.
They say they're expecting delivery of the stuff next week so hopefully we should still get the CD+12" before the end of the week.

cHEERS-the most important news i've had this week.Yes...a bit of a SLOW week.
Swing when you're WINNING!![]()
I am a bit confused as to why there is a "manufacturing problem." I had believed that the item was already manufactured and was sold at the exhibition. I was under the understanding that these were just leftover or additional copies now being generally released.
Does this mean that the museum/exhibition edition is a different pressing?

Yeah it is a bit confusing. I presumed they had already signed the vinyl by now. Maybe it's the CD?
Maybe it doesn't matter anymore as I've just had an email from recordstore to say: Your order has been shipped. Hurrah!![]()
Postman just knocked at the door with Swing ![]()
Nice packaging - single is minty mint with "Best Wishes" and lovely signatures from Steve + Gillian.
What a blast from the past - first vinyl 12" single I have bought since Run 2 back in the old days!
Yep, mine arrived too. Not so much of a delay after all. Excellent.
Just ripped the CD to my iPod and I'll be giving it a listen on the train this arvo on my way to Paris. Will post a verdict later. I'm open minded as this is clearly meant to be a soundtrack rather than a full commercial album/EP.
Superb ITEM...love the ALL THE VERY BEST(could have put ROCKET)from STEVE.Gillian G.

6 track CD
How come you got it then ERIC?
:p
Well I havent dug the record deck out of mothballs yet but, on the CD I'm really liking Tracks one and four. It's not Gillian, it's Stephen on vocals. (Well I presume it is). If someone played it to me blind and said: You know this artist, guess who...I probably would have guessed at Underworld. Which is a good thing.
Gillian says in the Clash Magazine interview that if Rob Gretton were around he could guide them what do do next. I'd suggest Stephen + Gillian + Bernard (either with or without Hooky, and either with or without the NO moniker) should, together do more electronic stuff like this. Sounds a hell of a lot more progressive and exciting than Bad Loo IMHO.
Reeally loking this 12" and CD great little package with it being signed as well. Pretty good techno track, like all the remixes, Factroy Floor are a decent band seems like Steve and Gillian have a good effect on Factroy Floor and vice versa. Certainly a good thing Steve and Gillian are liking decent modern music like this
Ordered the signed 12", but being me, I couldn't wait for the mail so I've downloaded the single via Juno yesterday... but why are all stores calling them "Gillian & Stephen, formerly known as 'The Other Two'"? ![]()
I thought it a bit odd how the CD that comes with the 12" doesn't include what's actually on the record I.e. Inside and Outside. Still, you can buy said tracks in wav format from Juno.co.uk for two quid each and simply reburn the CD with the missing tracks (which is what I've done).
Initial impressions are erm, a bit mixed really. I realise it's not meant to be a pop single and more soundtrack-ey but well... I'm continuing to listen... giving it a chance. I expected something along the lines of the Saville Soundtrack from 2003 (which I love) but Swing has a far harder electronic edge. It's a dance choon basically. My favourite 'track' at the moment would be the 12" b side "Outside".
I suppose it does sound a bit like Underworld (no bad thing) but only really one or two of the tracks of the total eight hold the attention for a bit. The FF remixes tend to meld together as they sound very similar and repetitive.
Steve, Gillian and Bernard should definitely get together and do some electronic stuff. This is the best sounding electronic new order related stuff since they stopped producing themselves.
I received this package today and would definitely recommend it. The best tracks are on the 12". Like Ally said, those tracks are not strictly on the CD. However, they seem to be slight variations on some of the CD tracks, "like they are being played next door" as it says on theothertwo.co.uk.
Some undeniably recognisable Gillian/O2/NO sounds on the record, like the choir-type sound that was last heard on "Here To Stay".
Recordstore.co.uk says "back in stock soon" - I'll probably buy an unsigned copy too just because the cover looks so good (despite all the white)!
Also recommended is the other "new" O2 track just out, Fritz von Runte's remix of "Loved It" which is available here (be quick, there's only a handful left!).

Best wishes.. Steve & Gillian G
Good to see some variation, shows they weren't just robots [excuse the pun] the day they were signing.
My vinyl player is back in storage, because well, it was a piece of crap basically, but from the CD, my favourites are Swing Robot and Swing Inside.
Interesting how some say it as "Gillian and Stephen", Gracenote seem to have "The Other Two" as the artist [which I think is correct]
PS.. I will be playing a track from SWING on the next edition of my ZONE show on www.lachefm.org.uk at 6pm GMT 11 August... [sorry
]
And YES!! to Bernard getting involved, the three of them making music again would be amazing.
I'd rather this happen actually, than say, Gillian joining Bad Lieutenant... ![]()
Well i must admit that i enjoyed getting something NEW.Very interesting and lovely item.Good effort STEVEN and GILLIAN.![]()

Well it doesn't say The Other Two anywhere on the vinyl/cd sleeve. I reckon they are trying to differentiate between this soundtrack-y stuff and regular O2 stuff with the different name.

Better hope they weren't keeping their stock here:
