trying to be forum appropriate: technical question, in another forum everyone's referring to easter eggs as if it some sort of hidden digital file on a dvd? i'm not familiar with that term and would like to know more.

Some DVD discs contain hidden features that are more or less easy to find. Some are rather obvious and others are quite tricky to find. These hidden features are called "easter eggs".
Search the web for "dvd easter egg" and see if any of your DVDs have them. Then try to find them.
