I heard AMD's floating point performance is suited to audio processing.

But, Cubase tailor their software to suit the host processor, you can see it happening when it fires up.

I went Intel.. baah!!!

I went with AMd cos they exagerate their performance less....an Athlon2400 is about 150% The speed of a 2.4GHz Intel (and AMD don't have the barefaced cheek to put the fake speed in GHz)

Ya know some smartass will turn up and just say to use a Mac.:D

Anyway, I choose Intel as I've never had any issues building systems with them. Early on, AMD with Via chipsets were a nightmare for some audio hardware companies and really scared me away from AMD for a long time. While I'm pretty sure those issues are long gone, I still like to build with Intel. When it came time to build my current machine last year, I went with dual Xeon 3.2's and have had no complaints at all. It's been able to handle ridiculous amounts of plug-ins and virtual instruments wihtout much strain and is more than adequate for the projects I work on.
