TLU is a million times better than Lonesone Tonight, never understood the appeal of this song at all, and I'm already annoyed it knocked out Hurt! So byebye LT!

TLU has the best intro to any NO song, 2 (ish) minutes of sheer bliss.

A really tough choice - no New Order song soars quite like Thieves Like Us but Lonesome Tonight is simply the most beautiful work they have ever done.

The best single (ie combined A and B side) the band ever made.

LT - but another really tough one, I suppose I tend to just about prefer their guitar-based stuff...

The a-side here. It reminds me of '70s funk, while Lonesome Tonight reminds me a bit of The Smiths.

i can't understand why lonesome tonight knocked out hurt either, but it'll be a cold day in hell before i vote for thieves like us (boring!). unless it comes up against the ranks of chemical, that is.

Thieves Like Us for me, always loved it.

Both are great. It might be the best NO single ever (A & B sides).

LT no contest. TLU too long, too dull. LT is classic NO. Bittersweet lyrics, big heavenly ending, small dicks.

Lonesome Tonight, definitely. While I do love TLU, I still can't get over how dated it sounds.

Tlu for me. Has subtle beauty, and barney's child like charm.

Lonesome tonight.... although I would have voted for Hurt over LT if I'd seen the poll.

Once again, arriving home from the shop, I stuck the record on the turntable without looking at the label, and heard LT first. I replayed that side 10 times in a row before I flipped it over.

Lonesome Tonight is one of my favourites songs of NEW order, but TLU has a emotive barney´s vocal!!

hearing Thieves for the very first time was one of my favourite ever New Order moments .That long intro was bliss.But, alas, Lonesome Tonight has aged better so voted for that
