Which Joy Division compilation album do you think is better, Substance or Permanent? The breakdown:

For me, it’s Substance. I bought the two albums almost simultaneously (JD Substance was released here in the Philippines in 1994 – not mentioned in the discography, but I can help Spotnick with the amendment if he wishes), both on cassette tapes. I probably played Substance twice as much as Permanent in my car stereo, and I played Side One of Substance, especially the first 3 to 5 tracks over and over again. My favorite JD track is Digital (track 3), probably followed by Warsaw, both of which are not on Permanent.
For Permanent, the only track not on Substance that I really really like is Isolation. So I definitely prefer Substance over Permanent anytime of the day.
