I guess this poll has been done before, but, hey, we all change our minds from time to time.
My top three studio albums would have to be, in ever-changing order, "Power, Corruption & Lies", "Technique" and "Get Ready", but my single favourite New Order album is and probably will always remain "Substance".

I think, overall, Technique is probably their most consistent offering, which'll probably be reflected in this poll. There's seven quality tracks there (never liked ATW and GP myself), but I don't think anything there quite touches the highs on PC&L or Low-Life. And I personally think Low-Life has more highs to offer than PC&L.
Actually, having said that, I think BLT from Brotherhood is better than anything Technique can offer, and the same goes for Regret and Crystal. But the rest of those three albums obviously falls away markedly when compared with Technique. Oh, and Dreams Never End too!
I judge a song by what it sounds like when they play it live away from the comfort of a studio (even though so much of New Order's work is sequenced). Every song on Low Life worked superbly well live, and for this reason it gets my vote. Technique was poor live, Brotherhood was a real mixed bag, PC&L only ever got 7/8 of a live airing (though they were excellent) and Get Ready not even half of it. Movement was better live than on record.
I don´t know why New Order complained so much about Movement's production.Did they complain because they think they sounded like Joy Division or what? Barney should also have complained about his lyrics cause they are sub-Curtis lyrics.

I think Technique's popularity, compared to Low-Life, is attributable not just to consistency, but also to the nature of the music. Technique is more upbeat or cheerful.

Technique; it's my summer album. If Substance had been on the list, though, I'd have voted for that.

Movement, but Technique is number 2, not so far behind ! Maybe one day the latter will become my favourite... but I'm a Joy Division fan above all !
personally i am quite surprised to see that movement has more votes than get ready - would have thought that a lot of newer fans would not have heard some of these albums limiting their choices somewhat.
big up for low life here too - technique best all round album, low life better individual songs

i think that Technique does a better job of maintaining a consistent atmosphere and sound than Low-Life - hence my liking it more.
but i agree in many ways - Low-Life has some AMAZING cuts on it, such as Love Vigilantes, TPK (although the edit is obviously lacking), This Time of Night, Face Up, Sub-culture, etc. but the atmosphere and sound isn't as consistent. basically, i prefer the production of Technique.
Why do people keep ignoring Brotherhood? it has some of Hookys' best bass lines ever and some of their best programing as well, the album is almost like a rock album but with imense beauty.

a lot of people love Brotherhood (like me), just not as much as some of their other albums (e.g. Technique, Low-Life).

Same here, with Movement just ahead of Technique. I don't buy the usual criticism of Movement that it sounds like 2nd hand JD - it has enough NO in there to make it their own, but for obvious reasons it is heavily JD influenced. It's true that Technique is a great summer album - it just has to be played at top volume while driving with the windows down on a scorching day.
Has to be PCL, it's so perfectly moody, warm, intense and heartfelt. Got some nice electronic musical things goin' on too...

i am going to own up to being the poor bastard that voted for 'republic.' and here's my reasoning why.
when it came out:
if it wasn't for this, i would have to say 'low-life' kicks everyone's ass.
i guess i vote for 'technique' as well. it is very consistent. it's prolly so damned upbeat because it was recorded in ibiza.
next in line are 'brotherhood' and 'movement', although each album has so many shining moments.

V.hard to pin it down to one choice..internally it's PCL,LL,Technique as a top 3, GR as a great comeback album, Movement,B'hood and Republic were partly knobbled by poor production and/or songwriting.
Brotherhood, by a slim margin over Low-life and Technique. Just love the songs, find myself humming them, and I really adore Angel Dust and As It Is When It Was. Sure the production is a bit thick, but then I hardly ever listen to it on headphones.
Proper vinyl version too, don't own the CD with the SOTN tracks.
For me "Power,corruption and Lies" I like the Aggressive Electro Sounds.
But "Technique" is the Best Album. 
For me it has to go to Technique. It still sounds gorgeous today as it did then in that Madchester Era. Beautiful melodies and the best vocals Barney has ever delivered (clear and not a dud note).They were at their peak of musical prowess at this time.
Movement was depressing and 2nd rate JD, PCL is pretty good (Leave Me Alone the stand out track), Low-Life is v. good and has an edge to it, Brotherhood should have been so much better as it seems rushed, Republic was ok, Get Ready was good.

Hey, I'm the other weirdo who voted for it. All of their albums (except Get Ready) are mega-masterpieces, but Republic is the only one where I love every single song for its catchy melodies and thick synth-lines. I can see why the average Hooky-loving NO fan would hate Republic, though. This thing drips of Stephen Hague, but I was a Pet Shop Boys fan a decade before I was a New Order fan, and still love that sleeker sound. Low-life's a close second.

definately definately definately definately TECHNIQUE awesome awesome awesome album, great dance tracks, pop songs, rock songs, just incredible. I love all their albums but this one's definately tops for me.

I like Movement because it has a Joy Division-esque feel to it.
Movement was the last album I bough, but upon first listen, I enjoyed it most. Every song on there is great, except Senses. Though I'm starting to warm up to it.
Its gotta be Low-Life. Contains 3 of the best songs New Order have written (Love Vigilantes / TPK / Subculture) and a gorgeous tracing paper sleeve. A Classic.

Technique seems to be a favorite here. Why don't they play anything from it at their concerts anymore?
I'm fairly new here, so I was just lookng through the old threads to see of there was a "favourite album" thread and of course, there was! I'm very glad to see Technique is winning, as it is without a doubt my favorite. I'm surprised it's not closer, though. Too bad this poll came out before WFTSC, not that that would change the results!!

Personally, Technique. 18 years old, summer hols in Ibiza, Hacienda, Blackburn Raves, post gig parties at the empress ballroom with the roses. Them wert days.
It was low life,with that being the first NO album i bought,but having recently been giving a technique quite a bit of playing recently,this has taken over as my fav,(low lifes not far behind though)
Technique is (for me) the best album ever recorded.
So no, adding Sirens wouldn't make much difference to me.
