Weekly Song Review: Here To Stay

ok the video didn't mean anything but style of it is great. its all i could do to stop myself buying a 16mm film camera and a bucket load of monchrome film :)

1. Best bit - bass sequencer kicks ass !
2. Worst bit - crap video and not played live
3. Love/hate - a statement of intent from the boys, great track
4. Percentage - 85%
5. Community ? - a great idea, and one in which I have enjoyed participating.

One of my favourite new tracks, highly underrated I think

3. why you LOVE it - superb dance track! Nearly 20 years after perfect kiss, blue monday and bizarre love triangle they've still got it and are still at the top of their game!

5. Opinion on the Community project: A cool way for the more musically-inclined fans out there to show their appreciation for Manchester's finest. Still think Digital Republic would've been a better name, though.

1. Best bit - the last bit with the combination of the "Here to stay" vocal, the guitar and bass all together - combination of melodies
2. Worst bit - lags a bit in the middle
3. I liked it straight away and now I absolutely love it -it has the classic NO sound, it just sounds effortless and compared to all the other songs released around the same time it kicks arse.

5. Community - some awesome versions mixed in with some very average ones - to be expected I suppose. Just hope all my favourites get voted into the final 15. :)

1. Well, the lyrics, the opening, the video.
2. The scum frog dub version of the song and the fact that they didn't "play" it on TOTP.
3. The opening just grabs me and the first verse of the lyrics are haunting. The images in the video went well with the song, although half of the images were just scenes from 24HrPP.
4. 95% - it's one of my top songs.
5. Well, on the songs I've voted on, most sound good, although no one's covered HTS yet.

1. the best bit - Single not off the album. Upbeat and dancy with hidden pain. Near to a classic single.
2. the worst bit - The mimed performance on TOTP, and it was the first time I was able to see them on TOTP on our telly !
3. why you love/hate it - It's among the best work they've done of late. Not on par with the all time classics, but good.
4. a percentage rating - 80 %
5. What is your opinion on the Community project? - Wonderful to see so many people colaborating in such a troubled world. Again, lookin forward for the CD/ T-shirt.

3. Loved it when I first heard it; didn't need to let it grow on me like a lot of the other songs off Get Ready. The chorus at the end, "We're here to stay" gives me hope that New Order are here to stay with more songs to do and release before they officially call it quits.

thought I'd give it a listen again as it hasn't been played since I got my 6-track australian cd just because it had player in the league on it! It got too much play at the time and I got bored with it. Out of the 5 mixes on this one I prefer the original edit.

1. I like the lyrics, simple but without embarassing lines (like some songs I could mention)

5. Great idea, well organised, just a shame that your efforts should be marred by some disputes, one of which I unwittingly started myself and I profoundly apologise for that. I have enjoyed listening to all the tracks submitted and it'll be a gem when it finally sees the light of day.

1. Best bit: It's the first real dance track New Order has done since Republic (not counting re-releases of other singles).
2. Worst bit: I really don't see anything wrong with this track.
3. Why I love/hate it: I love it because the drums remind me of their earliest stuff, the approach reminds me of their 80's dance style, and the rest remind me of their newest stuff. A perfect song (almost) getting the best parts of their entire career in 5 minutes.

5. Community is the best thing to happen to me. Not only did it finally get me to spill out my covers, it has inspired me to make more music as well, when before I never had a deadline, so I was never as enthused.

Funny thing actually, before any rules were set and we were just suggesting the tribute idea, I was going to cover Here To Stay. I probably still will. Anyways, thank you to our awesome webmasters for bringing this to a reality and allowing me to participate. :)

1. the lyrics, made eerie by the video, for one. it's a darn glorious song.

2. perhaps that I saw all the elements combine beautifully within this song, but I wanted to hear real drums to complete the sound.

3. I love it because the moment I heard it, I began getting chills and bumps all over and actually was asked by my friend if I was alright. I was struck by a NO trance.

1. the synthesizer and bass sequencer. Nice video, but...(see # 2)
2. John Simm does an obvious lipsync in the video. Plus, New Order must play this live. It will be appropriate it this would be the first song on their reunion gig.

2. Hooky's bass is mixed too low during the choruses, and you can tell it's a great, complex part too.
3. I feel that, much like Crystal, it's like a wonderful hybrid of the dark, foreboding feeling of Joy Division combined with the electro/dance aesthetic of New Order.
4. 95%. Great song.
5. I haven't heard the community stuff yet, but I think it was a great idea and it shows what a cool fanbase this band has.

I couldn't agree with you more. I really like both of those songs & Krafty as well but I couldn't figure out or articulate why.

I didnt even know this song existed until recently & when I heard it, I was floored.

I just like the driving beat of it. The lyrics seem to go well with the music as well. It's great to listen to in the car as you're driving along.

The only drawback is the repititiveness of the chorus at the end.

What I love about it? It doesn't sound like any other New Order song!

Community? I like that people are that inspired by New Order's music. Cool.

Lovely track, combined elements of previous hits whilst doing something new. For what it was, it seemed a fitting tribute to the film with lyrics that hint at Ian.

Several years late on my response, but... One of my fave tracks from the "later" period. Take the (radio edit) intro and slap it on the (full length vocal) and it is a monster of a track. My daughter asked me who the band was, we had a long chat=) Oh to be 16 again and enjoying my new copy of Brotherhood...
