  1. The overall catchiness and singalong feel to it.
  2. Simplistic and dull lyrics.
  3. Like I said, the catchiness is great. I have to hear it on CD-quality for me to meaningfully affix a love or hate to it. So far though, I like. :)

  1. Hooky's bass, Barney's singing, the instrumental middle section

  2. Lyrics I suppose, I'm the sort who doesn't pay attention to most of 'em.

  3. Like it a lot, and while it maybe a bit too derivative of some past sounds, still blows away most everything else I've heard yet this year.

  4. Give it 80%

  5. Search engine as well.

  1. Best bit - it's quite catchy in its own way
  2. Worst bit - typically banal lyrics
  3. Why do you love/hate it? - I don't, yet
  4. % Rating - solid 50%, I'm a hard taskmaster
  5. What you you like to see enhanced on NewOrderOnline? - The live section is not conducive to being used, each gig on its own page is very resource-intensive and wasteful, and it is not all that easy to navigate. Plus the database seems to have problems with certain tracks still. I can understand the wish to have ticket/setlist scans, but the repeating of images common to a particular tour doesn't offer very much. I'd prefer the live index to be more along the lines of Sam's site, where you can see the sets of a range of dates easily, and can follow hyperlinks to relevant additional information where appropriate. Without wishing to be critical of all the work Nick has put into this site (and like all of us I do appreciate just what has gone into making this the most popular New Order site out there), certain aspects just don't sit right, like the "rating" facility for the records (this ain't Amazon) or the "my collection" (what's that all about?). That said, this place is still the best there is, and is the only website that I don't own that has held my interest for four years.

1 It's Neworder. 2 The electro noises near the end. Give us the frogs Steve! 3 The overall sound and sing along chorus makes it well worth the money everyone will pay for the single. 4 Bit early, but 8/10 is about fair. 5 Enhanced on NOOL? Rocket's breasts (to match his belly)

1-Best Bit is the opening. 2-Worst Bit: too catchy and poppy. 3- Overall 80% 4- I have much neglected visiting NOOL of late but it seems more or less as usual. Nearly perfect. Bring back Huntsy and Patrick, though.

Overall is a grower, first time I heard it I was disappointed.
Now I've heard it six or seven times I am happier. Crystal it ain't though. Superb intro and nice, catchy chorus. Lyrically impaired as usual. I'm itching to listen to stronger flavoured mixes.

Now, how can I take the blooming thing with me!!! I do not have Internet at home and can't wait till tomorrow to listen to it again. I guess I could stay at the office but...:confused2:

  1. Best bit: It's a classy comeback song
  2. Worst bit: The vocals are a little too low in the mix

Best bit - Hooky's bass in the middle Worst bit - None really although the chiming bit at end of instrumental break is VERY reminiscent of Such A Good Thing (possibly, not such a good thing) Love it because - I think it gets better with every listen - a real grower and it's just what i was hoping for(my housemate's just wandered in and proclaimed "my god, that's sooooo New Order) Rating - 90% Enhance? - Nothing, your perfect as you are.

  1. Best bit - Are they kidding me? Synth noises in a NO track? Haven't seen this in a while.
  2. Worst bit - I have the feeling that in the long run, I won't mind this song, which is not typical of NO material.
  3. Why do you love/hate it? It's catchy... I love it because it's a very good musical track. I don't mind the lyrics, lyrics have never been the best side of New Order, I still wonder why so many people still care about that.. they can't talk about drugs all the time you know!!

  1. Best bit - When Hooky's bass kicks in
  2. Worst bit - Barney's voice too 'sweet' and lyrics too 'ordinary'
  3. Why do you love/hate it? It's definitely a grower and if you just think of the lyrics as Barney taking the piss (right, er, mountains, lakes and... f*** it, 'the human race'? - that 'ill do)they're bearable
  4. Rating - 7/10
  5. What you you like to see enhanced on NewOrderOnline? More audio downloads (80's gigs, Barney's crowd banter), 80s TV appearances and 80s magazine interviews - I think there's a theme here...

  2. lyrics as usual,but I don't mind and I'm happy about it.
  3. reminds me of the old NO songs and that's why I love and hate this song. Very hard to explain.
  4. I say 75% for thier comeback song, but NO didn't surprise me as they did the last time in 1993.

  1. Best bit : Defenitely the production and Hooky's bass. And of course the lyrics.:D
  2. Worst bit : The chorus is catchy but not classic; I like the verses better.
  3. Why do you love/hate it? It's 2005 and New Order is still making music. Plus it sounds more like the 'old' New Order then most that's on Get Ready. Really looking forward to the album.

It sounds like Monaco, also it reminds me of something off side A of Brotherhood. I like it, just not better than the old stuff, e.g. Brotherhood. As for the site, I've no complaints, I really love everything it boasts, Nic! :thumb:

  1. Best bit - When Bernard sings "I've gotta let you know" in his "smooth, musical" voice and when the music stops briefly - cool.
  2. Worst bit - The wobbly instrumental bit in the middle.
  3. Why do you love/hate it? - Love it cos it is New Order although I think it's a bit ordinary, as in not stand-out wow! like Regret or the energy of some on Get Ready.

  5. What you you like to see enhanced on NewOrderOnline? Nothing much - it's quiet and classy!

But that wobbly bit (which sounds fabulous loud!) is the little distinctive bit that separates this song (apart from the vastly superior production) from its Brotherhood compatriots!

Re: But that wobbly bit (which sounds fabulous loud!) is the little distinctive bit that separates this song (apart from the vastly superior production) from its Brotherhood compatriots!

You are right I guess...I just picked my "least favourite" bit. When I first started getting into New Order music I felt that many songs sounded the same but as I listened over & over I grew to love the different little features which made each song become individual. I think this song for me will be like many others have been - at first it sounds kinda average and just "New Ordery" but as I listen more it will establish a place in my heart!! Just not at the top of the list, that's all. But who knows?! When I first heard "Regret" I wasn't that impressed but now I wonder what in sam hell was I thinking? I love that tune and every remix and think it's one of their best.

  1. Best bit - The chorus makes me happy to be alive. It reminds me of 'Pet Sounds' believe it or not.

  2. The music itself is too conventional. The teen sex video looks like it was directed by Larry Clark. I'd be very surprised if it gets shown on MTV.

  3. Love it. It's a zesty upbeat tune that isn't insincere or stupid. I really don't understand why some people think it's shit. If you don't like this you don't like New Order.

  4. 90% But I'll probably get sick of it soon because the chorus is so catchy it's already permanently etched in my brain.

  1. Best bit - The instrumental bridge between the first chorus and the second verse. It's lovely and completely unrelated to the rest of the song. Classic New Order touch.

  2. Worst bit - My mother taught me that if you can't say anything nice about New Order's universally dreadful lyrics, then don't say anything at all. So I won't.

  3. Why do I love it? - Well, while it's true that "Krafty" breaks absolutely no new ground, it's still pretty damn delicious. All the expected sonic hallmarks are there - the mammoth doodling bass, the criscrossing swaths of synth majesties, a rhythmic steadiness that'd do Charlie Watts proud, and Barney's crispy naïve guitarring. They can do this stuff in their sleep (and probably do), but since it's their signature sound, and no one does it better, I'm giving it more slack than is probably necessary. Still, it's easily their best single since "Regret."

  4. Rating - I'd give it an 85 for the time being.

  5. Enhancements? - Well, I'm new here. I've barely seen the entire site! It all looks pretty good to me.

Patrick wrote: Am I wrong in thinking it sounds very much like AIIWIW?

It reminds me more of "All the way," actually. The first few times I heard it, I kept wanting to break into "Who do you think you're talking to?" on the choruses.

Oh, and for what it's worth, it's getting a shitload of airplay out here.

Best Bit - The heartbreaking chorus

Worst bit - The string break

Why do I love it - Because it sums up everything New Order mean to me. I don't understand why people moan about the lyrics. They're classic Sumner lyrics. I love them because they're simple, naive, almost childlike, but at the same time optimistic and heartfelt. They're the type of lyrics anyone could write (but never will). They completely lack any pretention and do the business of giving us an honest account of why life is both brilliant and rubbish and frustrating and beautiful. Honesty. That's what New Order have always been about, and these lyrics are honest. That's what makes them brilliant.

best bit is the bass and the synth part halfway through and the drumming at the end

barneys lyrics are always made up on the spot but someone has made a decent video out of them so its not all bad

sounds like crystal and regret

better than the rest of the re-hashed crap in the charts

ill give it 7 out of ten

hope the rest of the album is as good as waiting for the the sirens call track

Hang on all you lyric slammers, aren't Barney's cute rhyming couplets a big part of why you love New order?! It's like being 15 forever!

I like Krafty; it's just poppy newordery nice. Not very special but just nice like favourite old tshirt.

Not every piece of work has to be your best work.

  1. Best bit - Everything about the song. From the lyrics to the music, something quite wonderful. But especially the lyrics... especially the second verse. That's my favorite verse. 'Nuff said.

  2. Worst bit - When it actually ENDS. :nonono:

  3. Why do I love it? - First of all, it was proof to me that not only were New Order still alive but that they were also STILL making music! That song led me enough to buy the album, which is hands down one of the greatest albums of all time... well, at least in my humble opinion anyway.
