Best Bit: When the drums kick in at the start

Worst Bit: It takes too long to get to the best bit!

Why I love/hate it: I love it 'cos it sounds like barney could fall apart at any point. His voice is on the edge all the way through.

Haven't listened to Low - Life for some time so it wouldn'e be fair to comment on a hazy memory i'll have a little refresher tonight and let you know.....

Best bit : The keyboard at the start, that signals 6 mins of mayhem down the front ! Worst bit : It's pretty shit really apart from the tempo Why I like/hate : Great live, a bit boring on record Percentage : 80%

Best: the way the instrumental parts kick in between Barneys singing parts Worst: Barneys vocals Why I like/hate it: I like it because it's got a great intro, it's noisy. And it's got some fantastic drumming as well. Rating: 90%

1. Droning synth intro - very foreboding that one! And the thrash-out climax - punk rock!!
2. Bernard's vocals let the thing down
3. This is one of New Order's most powerful songs - and sadly this kind of aggression is all too rare in them these days. Blame middle age.

3. Like it because when the guitars kick in it makes you glad you stuck it out (so the very start does serve a purpose)

No intention to bring up the ol' debate but to me this song is the most Cure-ish song they have ever recorded. I don't know wether to apologise for this, but when I hear the singing of Sunrise I can't help thinking of The Cure. Forgive me for not sticking to the 1,2,3 thing...cheers

i'd agree that it does sound rather Cure-ish...that was actually the first thing i thought the very first time i heard it. but that doesn't mean i don't like it...contrarily, i like it quite a lot.

1. best bit: the guitar bits are fabulous, the forboding synth at the beginning...and the drums are quite good too. and although Barney sounds like he's going to fly apart, it sounds so drenched in emotion that it's really, really great to listen to, even if it's not technically perfect.

2. worst bit: that there aren't tons of more wrenching songs like this that they've done. not that i don't like other things they've done, but that's what sets this apart, in my mind.

3. love it: the sheer urgency and desperation. which i suppose can be said (in varying degrees) about many other of their songs, but those would be the reasons. ^.

rating: 85%

1.Hooky's bass throughout the song, all the music together.

2. Barney's strained singing at times

3. This is one of their better efforts. The music seems to mesh (no pun) together on this song, more so than many others. All the instruments are prominent, yet blend together so well.

There's a version of Sunrise that came out a bit before Low-life on a British zine/LP called Debut, but it's the same mix as on the album. There was a nice interview inside with the band that featured some of Rob G.'s sardonic comments. Unfortunately, there was a Tears For Fears song on the disc as well, but I had to buy the album to hear some new NO.

best bit.. Hooky&Steve in fine form. Barney and that whispering bit he does at the end at the end, summin like "as we spend our days together nothing can go wrong..etc..!"

3. Why I like it: As well as being one of the angriest tracks NO have made, itt's scary and cool at the same time

1. Hooky's opening solo bass line, Barney's guitar, Stephen's drums, Gillian's synth. Also, the great part on PFD where Barney yells at Stephen(?) near the end. "DOWN!"
2. Barney's vocals sound very strained, as with most of Low Life.
3. Proof to those "80s synth pop" naysayers that New Order fucking rocks out better than most bands today.
