So Alec McLeish, has been described as "the only candidate/man for the job" by the SFA and is set to be the new Scotland manager within the next 48hrs. Too soon for him? If no him who? Better or worse than Walter?

Personally I think he'll take us to Euro 2008, and if he's given enough time, he'll make the best of what we've got, he's done it at both Hibs & Rangers. I can't really think of anyone who'd have been more capable, or could get better out of the players we've got (with the exception of Walter Smith).

(But on another level, I'd love to have seen the all out attacking style that Jimmy Calderwood might have had the team playing: one of his 1-2-7 formations). :)

Smith pulled off a miracle with his results for Scotland.

If we qualify for the 2008 championships I'd be the happiest person alive. I just can't see it with McLeish in charge and the players we have, even if Smith was still in charge I don't think we would have made it.

2010 World Cup looks a better prospect, if we can keep up the decent results we will be seeded higher and avoid the chances of drawing THREE teams from the Top 10 in the world!!!
