United v Barca

got this one well wrong, realy expected united to do barca, who in fairness played extremly well up to the 18 yard line....that penalty miss though![]()
raise the pressure
Only watched this till the Apprentice came on but enjoyed the first 60mins - decent enough footie for the neutral. Nice football to watch, but fcuk all end product.
The lad Ronaldo does go down a bit easy for a big lad though. Stonewall penalty, mind, but compare that with Eto'o when Brown went through him. Least he stayed on his feet.
Think Barca have blown their chance now.
Absolutely.
I was listening to it on the Radio and it sounded like United midfield was overran, and they couldnt keep possession. Thewy should sort that out if Vidic is fit and move Hargreaves back into centre midfield.
For some reason a lot of United fans I know are down on this. And i'm trying to explain to them that at the start of the season, you'd have taken a "win at home in the semi and you're in the final".
And by fuck did Barcelona ever run out of steam at the end...
Barca have struggled for most of this season, they are just not the same without the buck toothed Brazilian, plus Messi and Eto'o havnae looked the same since coming back from injury.
I thought it was a shite game except for that one move of brilliance which included Iniesta, Messi, Xavi and Eto'o firing into the side netting.
Could well be a Man U Liverpool final.

I think the reasons barca have struggled this season were clear to see last night. They're trying to play like Arsenal and United do, but dont have the abilty to nail the final ball or the finish, and they're not fit enough. Alan Green said on commentary that he was expecting Barcelona to batter United in the final fifteen minutes, but it never happened. United were comfortable at the end, apart from when Van Der Sar decided to make a show of himself.

Maaaaayyybe...
Actually, yeah I can see a 1-1 draw at the bridge and going into extra time having the extra half hour of the away goal counting, Liverpool trying their tried and true tactic of "play like headless chickens just get it to Gerro and Torres they'll save us". I guess it's better than the tactic of the past two years when it just involved getting it to Gerrard.
Could you imagine of Grant got Chelsea further in the Champions League than fucking Mourinho ?

For Barca see Arsenal, sometimes you'd just wish they'd let rip from 25 yards, whilst I applaud trying to break defences down with skill, sometimes you just have to hammer it ![]()
well, it depends on what United do to replace Vidic. I would definitley have Hargreaves in midfield, even if it means risking Pique or O'Shea in defence.
And the reason I say that is that their finishing isnt great, we saw (or heard, in my case) last week. Hargreaves can contain anyone in midfield.

Vidic split his lip, no?
Even with genuine concussion thrown into the mix would he still not be alright by Wednesday?

going with my dad!
you should call him and give the ultimatum that either he gives you a ticket or they find a new drummer!! ![]()
I went in Manchester after work, there were hundreds of foreign fans wandering about in their shirts, looking lost, trying to converse with the locals "where is the pub", "where is the ground"
There were plenty Barcelona fans knocking about as well

we must be forty minutes into the game and it has just been drawn to my attention by the great Alan Green that Ronaldo is playing.

Both Fergie and Rio have just said the fans got them through tonight? Eh? I nearly phoned up Old Trafford after 10mins to ask them to tell the fans there was a game on! ![]()
Were Barcelona bribed or summat? They didn't seem too keen on decent finishing to their great moves. All very odd![]()

Nope, they've been like that all season.
It was pretty much exactly the same game as the first, apart from the goal. Barca had most of the play, and couldnt do anything with it. Its all very well and good doing all these fancy tricks and what not, and knocking it around fancy, but its seems a lot of the clubs dont realise that it aint worth shit if you dont win the game.
best match i've been to at old trafford, the atmosphere was just immense. we deserved it over the two legs. immense defending and to be honest we should have got a couple more tonight... i'm looking at you nani and tevez..!
come on the double

Watched the final ten minutes in a south Manchester pub. This was one of the most depressing experiences of my entire life.
Man Utd 'fans'. The worst kind of scum. As if we didn't know already. Wankers.
