Ah well , fair play to Chelsea. They deserve to be there after the previous semi defeats to Liverpool.A Man U Liverpool final would have been far more exciting than Man U Chelsea.I'm just wary now it will be boring as fuck like the 2007 FA Cup Final
![]()
oh come now...it would be fantastic to see Roman's team win the thing in Mother Russia...no???
I'm disappointed about the result, but fair play to Chelski, they won and both teams were gracious and well behaved in general.
I'd like Man Utd. to win the final though, as effectively, they'd be the 'away' team ![]()
I have to say that Chelsea aren't anything like as cool under Grant.
Him and Drogba were like a couple of giggling kids in the post-match interview last night.
I'm afraid I couldn't see either of them goosing chicks from the back of a little moped.
I'm afraid that since Al came up with this concept it has become my yardstick for judging what is good and bad in football.
This explains why I am not at all bothered about whether SGE leaves City and why, on balance, I probably want those cheeky United boys to lift that cup in Russia.
If anyone fancies a proper drink for the final, I've been invited to a party in a posh restaurant on the 21st.
From Today's paper
Surprisingly, given Roman Abramovich's ownership of Chelsea, Manchester United appear more popular in Russia. "We like Wayne Rooney a lot in Russia. He's very popular. He looks like Shrek," said Ruslan Matveev, 26. "Manchester United are going to win 3-0," he predicted.
I sent this to a couple of people today:
"Reports have been coming in that all the sperm banks in England will have to close on Wednesday, as all the wankers have buggered off to Moscow."

Why did they leave it till the last minute to change the pitch from artificial to turf? Did they have to wait til Torpedo and Spartak's season ended?

Erm...the season is nowhere near over for Torpedo and Spartak...they aren't even half way through their season...

Well that makes it even stranger then that they left it so late.It would be understandable if they had waited til the Russian season was over but as it's only half way through why couldn;t they have layed it earlier and allowed it to bed in/settle whatever
Not that i care that much.Just curious![]()
Well, Cashley might be out of the final. Makelele went in on him hard during training tonight.
Serves the little fucker right.
Watched a bit of the previews tonight on ITV and Sky. Jamie Redknapp is a terrible pundit but he's a god compared to Andy Townsend.
I'll be watching on Sky Tomorrow. With the commentary on Mute and Five Live in the background. ![]()
Why the fuck is there a mother fucking John Denver song playing in Moscow?
I nearly tossed the fucking telly out the fucking window...
then I remembered, there is a mute button on the remote....
Terry cries on Grant's boobs. Classic TV.
Well played Chelsea (apart from that habitual cheat, Drogba) shame, but someone had to win.
Proved that football can be entertaining and also about two teams really wanting to win but not simply relying on desperate amateurs 'hoofing' the ball from end to end in the hope that someone would pick it up. Shows the difference in skill between (money and) the leagues.
Well done Utd ![]()
Surreal but wonderful but of telly when they played footage the young Giggs coming onto the pitch.
Just about the best result, I think.
Fancy Anelka being the weakest link. What a career that boy is having.
Aye , everyone was rushing to console Anelka at the end.Not.![]()
Shocking that ITV news had the game as their main headline afterwards![]()
Haha... just heard on radio reports of violence near Stamford Bridge. Too scared to do it over there then.

Dissapeared.......l he scored the opening goal ffs.
You Americans should stick to Ice Hockey and Baseball.
John Terry deserves it, he is a cheat and a dirty player, sums Chelsea up really too.

I don't, I thought it was hilarious.
Good to see Didier Drogba finally getting getting what he deserved too.
As a ref famously once said...... "you lot need to be taught a lesson"
haha

Would have been a dream result!!
Didier Drogba is the stupidest player ever.
Proper final. Nothing fancy, just two evenly matched teams doing everything to win. This match was much much better than any of the finals the scousers were involved in.
I would like to know how on Earth Michael Ballack, Joe Cole, Claude Makalele and Florent Malouda werent all sent off for dissent. I'm surprised that the apparent gest refereee in Europe had such a poor game and lost control at the end.
So is Nicolas Anelka the worst signing aince Jonathan Woodgate signed for Real Madrid? £15 Million, two goals and misses the decisive penalty. Oh Dear.

I was hoping that they would all get sent off during that fight towards the end - that would have been a dream result! :p

The thing is, they should have been. You should not be allowed to speak to the referee like that. And Chelsea did it all game. And they had no need to.
Didier Drogba got sent off because of a disoute over a Throw in. A penalty i could maybe understand. But a Throw in? Chelsea are best off without him.
What did Drogba do that was so wrong? Tap Vidic for a tap on the cheek. Jes, you only get a yellow card these days for life threatening tackles. Its the final for gods sake and emotions and tiredness ride high.
The linesman made the most errors Ive ever seen. Three times Joe Cole got tackled by Evra and three times it was a goal kick. I can understand his frustration. hes a good player and good for him for not protesting like some would.
Almost feel sorry for John Terry but I just cant. He gets paid enough to compensate for any sense of loss.
I thought the pens were pretty good quality considering the prize at strike. Id have Hargreaves, Lampard and Ashley Cole up for any England ones (world cup 2010).
Pretty good final that petered out towards the end. I couldnt help but flick to Apprentice finale. Man U won the first half and Chelsea the second. They were very unlucky hitting the woodwork.
Theres 3 John Terry funny emails doing the rounds already. Anyone seen them?
I will say this, Chelsea should have had a penalty when Rio had his foot high. Dangerous play in anyones book. Linesman had his flag up for a second and then curiously took it down.
Right at the start of the game Ronaldo gave Drogba one of his trademark irritating smiles and I remarked to my mate that Drogba would get sent off. You could see the frustration rip out of him in response to Ronaldo’s little grin. He looked like he couldn't remember how to stand up straight, like he was aware that everyone was looking at him.
Throughout the game the ref was stamping on any suggestion of violent or unsafe conduct, while turning a bit of a blind eye to the dissent of J Cole and a few other Chelsea players, and also to some quite blatant diving. All United had to do was keep their own powder dry and put the emotional pressure on Drogba; he was always going to snap.
When it came, it might have just been a little push of the face but anyone who'd been watching the game, let alone playing in it, should have known that the Ref wouldn't stand for it.
For me, it was United's uncharacteristic discipline and the superior playing of the psychological game that won it for them.

Liverpool fans are still going on about Istanbul now, 3 years later Jem!
Can I still go on about the fact 19 years again Forest won the biggest European prize back to back years?:p

please! my cripple grandmother could have scored that goal. where are the dizzying runs and fantastic finishes he pulls off against the wigans of the world?
you United fans should get your heads out of C. Ronaldo's shorts
That was some height for a crippled granny mate.
That header was fucking perfection. The cross was one of the best you'll see, but it was no easy task to convert it like that.

FFS, Col!! What's all this methodical, reasoned analysis shite? Anyone would think you're a grown adult!!
You bring shame upon the good name of Manchester City Football club.

I thought it was cos they scored more penalties!
If Drogba hadn't been sent off, he would have been the fifth man up.
He'd have been far more likely to score than Terry, which would have won them the game.
I almost felt sorry for Ronaldo when his dummy run didn't work. It was comical to see the pair of them standing awkwardly on the pitch, both realising the remarkable situation. THE GOALIE WAS SUPPOSED TO MOVE DURING THE DUMMY RUN. He didn't. Fucking genius.
Ronaldo was about to take the one of the most important kicks of his career and it was about to be saved by Cech. Everyone in the stadium knew that, everyone in the world knew that. There is no way anyone can play a dead ball from that distance and beat a goalkeeper of Cech's stature without a run up.
Was he allowed to take another run-up? Ronaldo didn't seem sure. So he went for it. And Cech saved it.
That was my favourite bit of the game.
I was thinking. Why is Terry getting all the grief? It was Anelka who ultimately handed the cup over to United.
Apparently Anelka hasnt spoken to anyone since. But no ones noticed as he hasnt spoken for past 2 years.
