Live in Texas
I worked for the band who opened for NO at this show. My friends Jeff Campbell and Gary Guthrie formed a side project called 'Almost Anyone' which was an inside joke. "Who could open for New Order? Almost Anyone" so that became their name.
We hung out @ the club - Nightlife (formerly Club Foot) all day w/the members of NO and I recall having a hard time understanding them as their accents were so thick. I ran home during the day to get my copy of "Movement" which they were kind enough to autograph. I still have it along with my unused ticket for the concert as well as my backstage pass (a simple plastic orange bracelet).
I don't remember much about the show itself, other than it was packed and there was some kind of technical glitch with one of the sequencers - a Sequential Circuits model. I was a synth geek at the time so I was very keen on scoping out their equipment. Stephen played an Emulator keyboard during the super synth laden songs and I remember him playing the 'choir' sounds for one song. Gillian played a Voyetra and if I'm not mistaken, an ARP Quadra in addition to some guitar parts. Hooky had a custom percussion trigger that he played during parts of Blue Monday.
I still have the concert poster which can be seen behind Stephen in the "NO 1985' picture that shows as a banner on this site.
