New Order At Glasto
The electro rock legends proved themselves worthy of a headline slot at this years Glastonbury festival, whether they were approached to fill in for Kylie on Sunday or not I don't know. The boys delivered a superb set, despite evidently being beset by technical difficulties and a late start, gliding effortlessly between their dark past Joy Division classics 'Transmission' and 'Love will tear us apart, early electro-pop favourites such as 'True Faith' and 'Bizzare Love Triangle', to 90's era survivor the addictive 'Regret'and modern classics such as 'Crystal' and 'Jetstream.' Just as quickly as the legends had got the crowd going with a boistrous rendition of 'World In Motion' featuring Keith Allan and a pantomime horse(!) , the show was over, leaving the crowd gagging for more. The bands exit did seem rather abrupt and personally for me its a shame that 'Blue Monday' wasn't on the cards but all the same a great performance by one of the greateset acts still producing the goods these days.
