Just got a real buzz from the music in my schooldays - remember the death of Ian C - Loads of memories of School Discos - pumping out Blue Monday, Confusion, Everythings Gone Green....

During School Games (sports) lessons - on cross country we used to take a short cut to one of the lads houses, get out the guitars & synth and cover New Order / Joy Division songs, which would be played in the school changing rooms after we returned pretending to be out of breath from a long run!!!

From this was formed "The Heritage", my first real band, who played live at a number of youth clubs etc... - I played lead guitar, and just loved the Joy Division Stuff - in later years, I played with Andi (Electrodiesel) with whom we did a cover of Confusion.

New Order were also the first band I ever went to see live at King Georges Hall in Blackburn around 1982 - I remember distinctly Hooky telling us to "Fucking Shut Up", 'cos in our teenage excitement we thought it was great to shout for "Transmission".

Things have changed now and I play tenor banjo & mandolin (trad irish music) - but I still remember the days of New Order and often play some of Hooky / Barneys riffs on the mandolin - which somehow sound pretty damn good.
