NEWORDERONLINE IS ONE YEAR OLD!
On December 1st 2000 was officially launched a crazy project of making the ultimate New Order website. One year after, we don't have the pretention of saying "mission accomplished", but we are still very proud of the results of our hard work.
A year ago NewOrderOnline only had a few visitors -- now we have more than 3000 site members, and among them, more than a thousand have Fan Club profiles to let the world know about who they are, where they're from, and about their appreciation for New Order and their music. Building such a community is, in itself, quite an achievement. You can thank you for it, because each of you have been contributing one way or another.

In only a year, the website had about 400 000 hits, which is fantastic for this kind of website. Building such a community is, in itself, quite an achievement. You can thank you for it, because each of you have been contributing one way or another.
Let's recapitulate about the origins of this website. Originally, the website arose from the ashes of the Temptation website, which existed since 1996. Until September 2000, NewOrderOnline had been an idea in our minds for several months, but it's not until December 1st that we decided to transfer the Temptation website onto a brand new domain name, www.neworderonline.com, to underscore the dawn of a new concept.
The concept is a three phase project. The first phase was a transition one. We had to establish the structures of the new website, without totally destroying what had been the Temptation website. Therefore, at first, the website was known as "Temptation, a NewOrder Website at www.neworderonline.com".
The second phase was far more ambitious, and it took from the month of February until July 23rd 2001 to put everything in place. This is the version you have online today. The website is based on an extensive database system where each element is linked with the others. It will eventually offer possibilities without boundaries, websitewise. At the moment we speak, that version, "NewOrderOnline v2.0", was never completed. The discography has not yet even half of the elements that were gathered over the months and that we have hidden somewhere in a vault. The "song/lyrics/discography/multimedia/ interactive system is not even close to be completed. The FAQ section or Biographies section were never really worked on. Elements that had been imaginated two years ago took place only recently. The poll system is a good example of that.
As for the third phase, it might never see the light of day. Too much work. But then again, who knows? After all, NewOrderOnline is a "work in progress".
NewOrderOnline, nonetheless, can still improve, and your contributions are a very important part in this constant improvement. Therefore, we are always accepting your pictures of the band or venues they played, the scans of your old concert tickets (if we don't already have one online!), scans of promotional items, and basically anything else we haven't got yet. This is the original goal of NOO: putting in one place everything on New Order for everyone to access and enjoy.
We want to thank you for your continuous support, and even if we have less and less time as months go by, we assure you that we will not let you down in the forseeable future.
