REVIEW OF NEW ORDER BY A MOBY FAN
Here's an excerpt of an interesting review of the Area:One Los Angeles concert from a fan of Moby that was written on Moby Online's message boards. It's interesting to have an outside view on New Order.

New Order was FANTASTIC. I didn’t know too much about their music aside from their radio hits but I thoroughly enjoyed everything they played. Especially the first song they played, “Atmosphere”, it was stunningly beautiful. The songs they played that I knew, “True Faith” in particular, were so great to hear. You would think that a sort of early-techno-type band would be airy-fairy or something but they totally rocked. Part of what made this act such a great experience was that they seemed geniunely enthusiastic about it. The bassist was kind of a funny guy, at one point he wandered off the stage onto one of the side ramps and had to be retrieved by a security guard. Generally the band looked like they were having a fun performing. The mood was so infectious that I even caught Billy Corgan smiling and looking like he was having a good time. At other points in the show, however, he returned to his usual introverted self. The lead singer of New Order at one point called him a “sex god” and “the star of the show” and Billy pulled the hat he was wearing so far below his eyes you could hardly see anything but his chin. The sun was setting as they were playing and the light on the mountains and the clouds was lovely.

And then, speaking of Moby:
As you will also notice he threw in a cover of a Joy Division song in there. For this he brough out the members of New Order and a few others (presumably from Joy Division although I’m not sure) and said that if it wasn’t for Joy Division and New Order he wouldn’t be here. He sang whilst the other guys played, including Mr. Corgan. It was very cool. Afterwards, the New Order guys hugged Moby, the bassist hugged him twice and kissed him. There was a lotta love. Moby said afterwards that he spent most of his time when he was 15 sitting in his room listening to Joy Division and New Order and if you had told him then that he would one day be playing with them the chances that he would have believed you would’ve been “is there anything less than nil?” It was all very sweet.
