White Lies - Two Exclusive Shows For Fans
Redeveloped, recrafted and entirely redesigned for the start of a new decade, Factory Records infamous central Manchester offices took charge of its second weekend to host two highly anticipated and exclusive shows by White Lies, playing for an audience of their fans and The Factory’s newly formed crowd in the club’s intimate performance area.
The first show took place last night (Saturday) after thousands of people had applied for tickets from factorymanchester.com while the band took time out of their current European tour to play these two shows - the only White Lies UK headline shows scheduled for 2010.

The first show took place last night (Saturday) after thousands of people had applied for tickets from factorymanchester.com while the band took time out of their current European tour to play these two shows - the only White Lies UK headline shows scheduled for 2010.
As expectation swelled through the packed venue, White Lies took to the stage at 9.15pm to deliver a tight hit-laden set in front of an adoring 450-strong capacity crowd.
Having spent the majority of last year on tour, Whites Lies easily punched their weight across the Funktion One soundsystem and wasted no time in displaying their hardened live smarts as they confidently took control of the gig - only the third ever band to headline The Factory.
Opening with an arrestingly intense run through of 'Farewell To The Fairground' the four-piece powered through a resplendent 12-song set, which saw the live outing of fan favorites ‘Taxidermy' and “You Still Love Him” alongside a complete performance of their 2009 UK number one debut album “To Lose My Life”.
Lead singer Harry McVeigh appeared to be in fine form as he led his band mates through their repertoire; his deep vocals appearing to channel the spirits and style of many legendary rocks stars past as he and the band took apart the solidly packed room with “Unfinished Business” towards the final section of the performance.
After a supercharged set that clocked in at just over an hour, White Lies closed with a hair-raising rendition of their breakthrough song “Death”, which saw the fervent crowd engage in a passionate full-bodied sing-along.
Following what had been a crowd pleasing, spectacular concert for many White Lies devotees and fans, the band left the stage to rapturous applause from them and the Factory faithful who had enjoyed another special, exclusive and intimate show, delivered direct to the Factory floor.
Prior to White Lies appearance, local band “1913” made a big impact on the waiting crowd. As debut single 'Atlantis' (Modern English) shows, the band reflect a tradition that stretches back to Joy Division and The Chameleons but apply a modern twist to that rainy day heart of darkness and euphoric sense of escape that is at the heart of all great Northern music.
